The youths are the majority of Old Peak Sneng and to make the place self dependable, they should have versatile skills, just like the cassava.
This centre aims to develop the youths by integrating soft skills into the hard skills they learn in school. They can apply what they learn in school to this centre.

Nature as Design Inspiration
Using nature as a mentor and inspiration, I chose the lionfish as the guru for my architecture design.

Experimenting with Models

Building models allow me to visualise the spatial opportunities and construction techniques.

The VILLAGER and the DWELLING
OF MAGIC

Way of Life and Architecture

I obeserved a villager from Little India and observe his way of life. I captured the magic of his dwelling, the narrow valley of bangles, which facilitates his way of life.

Climate Analysis

Architecture and Nature
As a designer, I believe in responding to the surrounding environment, hence I analyse the sunpath to make better design response.

I built a model with a human scale person to visualise the spatial experience.

The ZIGZAG Bridge
Growing up, I have always loved the bridges around my HDB neighbourhood and wanted to design innovative bridges inspired by HDB Bridges and used rhinoceros 3D and photoshop to bring it to life .
I explored and designed a tensile structure and a curved building Tensile Structure

Cabin by the Beach
I designed a small cabin that is intended to be situated near Changi beach with different facades to allow for different views. Building a model allows me to visualise the space better.

Copper Roof

Mercedes Painting
I wanted to express the rich, affluent lifestyle. I was careful with proportions and experimented with acrylic and watercolour.

I enjoy drawing, sketching, painting and trying different mediums.

Lady in Fancy Outfit Simple Pleasures
I wanted to try an illustration and comic art style inspired by artist Ana Luiza Koehler.

I used colour pencil to express a boy who is delighted and indulging in playing with bubbles.

Big Ben
I experimented with pigment liners to draw an iconic gothic style building, Big Ben.

I studied a real life award winning building, Kampung Admiralty’s Green and Sustainable features and learnt about the details of the green roof and green wall to explore the possiblities of integrating such features in my design.

Kampung Admiralty
Green Roof

I did a model in revit to showcase the layers of the green wall.

Kampung Admiralty
Green Wall

Drawing this, I understand the speciÿcs of the Green Roof and its irrigation system. Green roofs contain layers of soils, waterprooÿng membrane, and drainage or water storage systems.

The breakdown of the green wall helps me better understand crucial parts of the green wall such as waterprooÿng membrane and drainages.

1st Storey

Using BIM, I constructed a simple house with di˛erent windows and furnitures. Experimenting with Windows and Furnitures

Cuban Influence
I chose Cuba as a country of inspiration because of mix of Spanish and European influence.
I especially love the shophouses in Cuba and hence decided to model them.

RONCHAMP REIMAGINED

Brainstorming the Translation to Bamboo and Construction Methods

Exploring Bamboo’s Potential
Bamboo is a sustainable material with a many great properties such as high shear stress and a great compressive strength that makes it an attractive material for me .
Ronchamp
I chose the ronchamp to be redesigned because of its curves, which can be replicated by the bamboo.

Using Bamboo Trusses to build the roof
