The T403 utilises a set back front axle with an optimal bumper to back of cab dimension. Developed as a purpose built aerodynamic solution for intrastate and
interstate distribution it is ideal for single trailer, some vocational 19m B-Double and rigid applications.

The T403 can be optioned with a range of Kenworth’s traditional sleeper boxes. Configurations range from the IT flat roof 28” sleeper to an aerodyne 36”, offering cupboards with hanging space, full head room and ample storage.

The T403 is available with the Eaton “Ultrashift Plus� automated transmission. This two-pedal transmission delivers significant improvements in performance, superior acceleration and low speed manoeuvrability with its revolutionary Electronic Clutch Actuation (ECA).

The T403 offers the choice of a Cummins ISX or ISMe5 engine and a spacious and comfortable cab with wrap around dash. An optimised bumper-to-backof-cab dimension and set back front axle also offer additional payload advantages in an aerodynamic package.
All Kenworth suspensions are of the highest quality with proven performance and reliability. Unique to Kenworth is the eight air bag AIRGLIDE suspension system. Renowned for its excellent ride and handling it is popular across a wide range of applications from general freight to fuel haul.
To get power to the ground, we offer a selection of proven drivetrain components for the T403 from the best suppliers including transmissions from Eaton, coupled with drive axles from Meritor and Dana.
EMISSIONS
To meet strict ADR80/03 regulations Kenworth offers the T403 with the choice of either (1) SCR (Cummins ISMe5) or (2) EGR and DPF (Cummins ISX). SCR employs DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) which is added to the exhaust gas to significantly reduce particulate matter. EGR recirculates the exhaust gas back through the engine before a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) also significantly reduces the particulate matter.

At Kenworth trucks we design our own fuel and oil tanks. Engineering fuel tanks specifically for an application can deliver cost savings by setting up a truck so you can refuel where you want to. Aluminium tanks are standard for weight saving. Just another example of Kenworth’s unmatched attention to design, function and quality.
This is why the class leading cooling package minimises engine fan cycling even in the harshest conditions.
We optimise the strength and weight distribution of each frame by locating the various parts so that loads are evenly spread and fuel tank capacity can be maximised.

DEFINING SAFETY ABS ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM Prevents wheel lock-up when the vehicle is over braked, often reducing stopping distances. Vehicles can retain directional stability and steerability, even under emergency braking on slippery road surfaces. ABS also reduces the danger of jackknifing in the case of vehicle combinations.
DTC DRAG TORQUE CONTROL Prevents the driven wheels from compression locking on a slippery surface by raising engine revs to assist with vehicle stability.
ATC AUTOMATIC TRACTION CONTROL Prevents wheel spin under acceleration as the drive torque exceeds the drive tyres to road surface adhesion. The ATC system communicates with the engine ECU to reduce engine power or will apply the brakes to the drive wheels depending on the low traction event.
ESP ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM Helps to restore vehicle stability through the use of ABS, ATC, steering direction and vehicle directional stability information. Steering angle, yaw, suspension pressure and brake application pressure sensors monitor the intended vehicle directional control versus actual vehicle movement. ESP intervenes by applying individual wheel brakes, or reduced engine torque when required to enhance vehicle stability. The system is compatible with multi trailer combinations.
TRM TRAILER RESPONSE MANAGEMENT Electronic trailer brake actuation (for EBS compatible trailers only) for improved trailer braking response to assist with reduced stopping distances.
ACB ACTIVE CRUISE WITH BRAKES Helps assist with accident avoidance, by using on board computers and radar to engage the engine and wheel braking systems if other vehicles on the road enter unsafe distances from the truck.
