Everyone is welcome to come celebrate the holidays at the Annual Christmas in the Square event. Come visit Santa and his workshop.

Santa will have a special gift for each child. Children’s crafts, special treats and entertainment will be available too! Be sure to stop by the Gladys Fox Museum to see the Festival of Trees. Visit the Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Saturday. The tree lighting ceremony will be at 4:30pm on the front lawn of Central Square. This event is sponsored by the Lockport Township Park District, City of Lockport and Lockport Township Government as well as a variety of local businesses. Supervisor: Sarah Hamilton

Festival of Trees

The Lockport Township Park District is seeking organizations to participate in our Annual Festival of Trees contest. Only 15 organization’s applications will be accepted to participate in this event. The organizations that are selected to participate will be assigned a 6 ft. pre-lit artificial Christmas tree to decorate in the theme of their choice. Decorating will take place on Wednesday, November 24 from noon to 5pm at the Gladys Fox Museum. All the decorated Christmas Trees will be on display at the Gladys Fox Museum for the community to judge during the Christmas in the Square event, on Nov. 27 from 1:00pm-4:30pm. The winning organization will receive a monetary donation. The Christmas trees will be donated to local families. Application fee is $45. Applications are available on-line at www.lockportpark.org. Trees are limited so be sure to apply early.

Senior Clubs Come together for a program and food for less than a meal at a restaurant. All clubs are co-sponsored and very affordable! There are no membership fees nor annual fees as everyone 50 and older is welcome to join us.

Learn strategies to integrate into your everyday life to avoid becoming a victim of crime. Seminars teach common weaknesses that criminals may take advantage of along with a variety of corrective measures and techniques that are practical, inexpensive and easy to follow. The seminar includes classroom instruction on criminal psychology, automobile crimes, cyber safety, home security, and a variety of crime prevention strategies. Fee includes all course materials and a certificate of completion. Seminar is open for all ages. *Questions and participation can prolong the seminar’s ending time.

National Walking Day Take steps towards a healthier you! Celebrate The American Heart Association’s National Walking Day with a walk in Dellwood Park.

King and I–Drury Lane, Oakbrook

British tutor Anna Leonowens and the King of Siam struggle with cultural differences after Anna arrives at the royal palace in Bangkok. Inspired by true events, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King and I is a tale of the human experience, exploring the historical intricacies of class, race, and politics in 1862.

Featuring beloved songs like “Shall We Dance?” and “Getting to Know You,” this Rodgers and Hammerstein classic won 13 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Revival of a Musical. The 1957 movie adaptation was nominated for nine Academy Awards, winning five, including Best Score.

Galena Getaway–(Featuring Dubuque and Dyersville, IA)

Experience historic Galena on this 3 day/2 night motor coach bus trip. You will be staying in the heart of downtown Galena at the DeSoto House with breakfast each morning and luggage handling included. We will be greeted upon arrival with lunch downtown followed by a step-on guided tour of Galena. After, we’ll head out to Galena’s countryside to visit Galena Cellar Winery for a wine tasting and time to explore the vineyard on your own. You’ll then be able to enjoy an evening at your leisure to explore the downtown shops and restaurants that are within walking distance from our hotel. Heading into Iowa the second day, you will be able to tour the Field of Dreams Movie Set in Dyersville with a ghost baseball player as your tour guide.

You will also be able to tour the farmhouse that has been converted back to what it looked like in the movie and hear about the filming process! Heading back to Galena from Dyersville we will make a stop in Dubuque to ride the Fenelon Place elevator which is described to be the world’s shortest, steepest scenic railway. You will then be shown around the city by a local step-on guide that will take us through a historic progressive dinner tour while learning about the city of Dubuque. On this tour, we will also make a stop at Eagle Point Park - a gorgeous view on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River. On our final day in Galena, you will have free time in the morning to get any last-minute shopping or touring done before making our way into Dubuque to board the American Lady for a lunch cruise on the Mississippi River. $75 deposit due at registration with final payment due 3/16. Polonia Chicago–Chicago Food Tours

You don’t have to travel overseas to visit the Old Country. Chicago boasts a thriving Polish community and we will celebrate all things Polish. Our day will begin with a tour of St. Hyacinth Basilica, the heart of Chicago’s Polish Village. Next, we’ll visit The Polish Museum of America for a docent-led tour. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a sit-down lunch at Staropolska’s, the top Polish restaurant in Chicago, and have some time to shop along Milwaukee Avenue.

Polish meal is served family style complete with cucumber salad, pierogi, mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, Polish sausage and red cabbage.

Mules, Marigolds, Mimosas

Step back to 1848 and take a ride on the I&M Canal on The Volunteer, a mule-pulled Canal Boat. Meet our guides and hear their stories of life along the canal in 1848, when the I&M Canal first opened and Illinois was the western frontier. After your boat tour, come into the Lock 16 Café to receive a delicious mimosa & brunch. Then visit the Weber House & Gardens sitting on 2 acres in Streator, Illinois. The home immerses visitors in storybook/Tudor architecture and English-style gardens, and provides an intimate look at American history through the eyes of Ted Weber—a Chicago-area radio and TV personality for over 50 years. SIX, The Musical & Lunch at Francesca’s–CIBC Theatre, Chicago

Mackinaw Island Escape–Mackinaw, MI

Set out to forget your stresses and relax in the beautiful Mackinaw region of northern Michigan!

This four day motor coach trip features three nights of lodging in Mackinaw City at the Best Western Dockside Waterfront Hotel with breakfast each morning. The night we arrive we will have dinner at The Hook lakeside Grill with views of Lake Huron. The next morning will begin with a full day on Mackinaw Island with a horse and carriage ride, followed by a visit to the Grand Hotel for their popular Grand Luncheon Buffet!

Jesus Christ Superstar is an iconic musical phenomenon with a world-wide fan base. In celebration of its 50th Anniversary, a new mesmerizing production comes to North America.

Jesus Christ Superstar is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary series of events during the final weeks in the life of Jesus Christ as seen through the eyes of Judas. Reflecting the rock roots that defined a generation, the legendary score includes ‘I Don’t Know How to Love Him’, ‘Gethsemane’ and ‘Superstar’. Show is at 2:00pm with seating in the lower balcony, rows D-H. Lunch at The Berghoff restaurant includes salad, brownie and choice of: Turkey Rueben, Chicken Caesar Salad or Grilled Portobello Panini. Proof of vaccination may be required.
