First day at Lockers Park

Locky Bear is going to school. It’s his first day, and he’s feeling very excited.

He can’t wait to see his new classroom and to meet his teacher.

He has been to the uniform shop to get his uniform. He has chosen his favourite checked shirt to wear.

His shoes are polished and his games kit is in his nets.

Locky Bear eats his breakfast and quickly gets himself ready.

He picks up his bookbag and puts on his coat. He even has a friend to take along and keep him company.

The sun is shining as they get to Lockers Park. They go through the big gates and he sees all the other boys playing out on the grass.

They are all having fun as they run around.

Locky Bear goes into Little Lockers and everyone says “Hello Locky”.

His new teacher helps him hang up his coat and then takes him into the Reception classroom.

She introduces Locky Bear to the class and asks Henry to be his pater for the day.

The first lesson is phonics and all the boys sit at their tables to listen to the teacher.

Locky Bear writes his name on his book in pencil before they start the lesson. Today they are looking at words with ‘ing’. He likes learning his new spellings.

At break Charlie and Eddie show Locky Bear the play area. They get to choose a biscuit and a piece of fruit.

Then they have great fun on the swings and the climbing frame.

They then decide to go and look at the allotments to see what is growing in the garden.

Nearby the chickens are clucking loudly. They help the older boys search for eggs and put them in the basket.

After break they have a music lesson. The boyslearn about the different sounds they can make with the instruments.

At the end of the lesson the teacher lets everyone try out a new instrument. It gets very NOISEY!

At lunch the boys take Locky Bear into the dining room. He is feeling hungry now and his tummy starts to rumble.

It’s Tom’s birthday today so they all have a slice of birthday cake.

“This is delicious,” says Locky Bear.

Locky Bear puts on his new Games kit ready for the next lesson. During Sports they play football out on the field.

They are put into two teams and start to play a game of football.

Locky Bear even scores a goal!

Then it’s time for reading. Locky Bear sits in a circle with the other boys as the teacher reads to them. As it’s nice weather they sit outside.

They are reading one of Locky Bear’s favourite books and he listens carefully to the story.

As the school day ends Locky Bear sees his mummy here to pick him up.

The boys wave bye-bye and Locky Bear picks up his book bag, all ready to share his stories about his first day.
