Tyson Grumm's paintings invite us into a nostalgic world of imaginative subject matter, where a world between the past and the future can be derived from characters located within fantastic surroundings. Grumm fuses historical references, quirky animals and misty landscapes to develop a folkloric approach to the figurative tradition. Grumm reveals a story that is only partially told, enabling each viewer to contribute his or her own imagined view towards the interpretation of each work. In his art, Grumm creates whimsical and surrealistic stages by using text within multifarious scenes.

Tyson Grumm was born in Newcastle, Wyoming in 1972. Grumm studied at Southern Oregon University and received his BFA in 1996. The artist exhibits regularly in the USA, London and Canada and his works can be found in many private and public collections in Canada, Europe and the USA.
