Diana Dean
Diana Dean's art is epic in subject matter, composition, scale and historical parallels. Dean's work is largely figurative and self-referential, reflecting relationships during the passage of time: birth, marriage, children and death. The struggles and issues of life expressed by the artist are transformed to the universal. Paintings characterized by spiritual themes, home life and family, all set within a timeless period, comprise her powerful body of work.
Diana Dean was born in Rhodesia (present day Zimbabwe) in 1942. She received her training at the prestigious Bath Academy of Art from 1961 to 1964, where she was awarded a Diploma in Art and Education with distinction in sculpture. Dean has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Canada since 1975.
