The incidence of pancreatic cancer is more prevalent in people between the ages of 40 to 80. The cancer can form in any part of the pancreas.
If the cancer is present in the head portion of the pancreas, it might block the bile ducts and pancreatic ducts. The patients will present with malaria. Treatment involves removing the tumour with the head portion of the pancreas. This surgery is called Whipple surgery and this open surgery involves removing the head portion of the pancreas along with the duodenum and a portion of the bile ducts.
