Oldham Theater in Sparta TN 38583 The Oldham Theater in Sparta TN is an important local theater that was created in the 1930s. The theater got renovated in 2001 by the city with a grant they obtained from the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Now listed in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, the Oldham Theater operated as a local movie theater until the 1970s.
The renovation in 2001 consisted of two phases. The first phase included a renovation of the front entrance and the addition of a welcome center. A replica of the original marquee was incorporated into the new design to preserve historical accuracy. The second phase of the remodel included new audio and visual technology that allowed the building to resume its original entertainment purpose.
