In our school libraries, we support students in achieving these goals and teachers in constructing meaningful lessons to meet their curricular needs. Ultimately, we hope to create lifelong learners of all ages via our LMTSD School Library Media Centers.

The library misses all of its readers! We hope you have been able to find some good online reads and discover new authors. Miss Vanessa at the Huntingdon Valley Library has been busy organizing a fabulous summer reading program for our students! There are many events to look forward to in the months of June, July, and August. The Tails and Tales Summer Reading program will run from June 21-August 1. There is a program called Beanstack where students can log their reading, earn raffle tickets, and submit their tickets for awesome prizes - like books!!

Reminders! You can check your library account online at any time! Go to: http://library.lmtsd.org, click on your school and enter your network username (lunch #) and network password (lm5d…).

Lower Moreland High School We will all remember this one. It will be a long time until we forget about the past school year. We all learned and did so much over the last year, and we are grateful for most of the growth we have had this year. The library has adjusted through all of our instructional changes and challenges and has provided excellent service to all of our students and school community. Some of what drove change in the library were projects that we normally wouldn't have been able to accomplish with a full building. Mrs. Succi took on the job of inventorying our entire collection of thousands of books and other materials which is the first step in preparing our library for our move to the new high school. After the inventory was complete, we were able to order a few hundred new books for the library to update and diversify our collection. The next step is currently in process. We are weeding our collection in an effort to make the library more current, rigorous, and relatable for our students and staff. This process will continue through the next school year as we prepare for the big move. Our library used our technology capabilities to keep in touch with our classes and community. We hosted many hybrid and in person events in our wonderful library space. We love seeing folks here in person, and we were thrilled to welcome classes and study hall students back to the space for a chunk of the year. The library space changed a bit this year as we moved the makerspace from the main library floor into the former media lab. The movement to 1:1 computing for our students eliminated the need for computers in that space, so now we have a space that will constrain the dust and noise of a well functioning maker space. We were able to keep the ball rolling on a long term project that had partial funding from the LMPTA. Manav Singh (‘21) is leading students through a project that will scan and upload the Lary Leong Memorial yearbook and LMHS newspaper collection. This collection has its own website and it will be searchable by the public.

Congratulations to the class of 2021!
