Denton police responded to a report of gunfire early Saturday morning in the 1300 block of Dallas Drive, where a bullet entered an apartment dining room sometime during the night, according to a police report. A 23-year-old woman claimed that someone “had fired a bullet through her dining room wall,” police reported. No one was injured, according to the report. The case is pending.

parts of the state to patrol the border as part of a security mission started last year. Officials in counties across the state say they’re seeing fewer troopers to assist them. Denis Simons, the county judge in Jackson County, southwest of Houston, said the number of troopers sometimes falls from three or four to just one for his county and others nearby. “It puts a little more burden on our local law enforcement,” he said. DPS said in a statement it has already acknowledged some of the troopers now on the border were to come from other parts of the state, “and that we would work to minimize the impact to other areas or services.”

Avenue D has road closures between Maple Street and Eagle Drive. Bonnie Brae Street has street repair between Windsor Drive and U.S. Highway 380 (University Drive). Carroll Boulevard has curb repair between Mimosa Drive and Magnolia Street. For more information about street construction projects in Denton, visit www.cityofdenton.com.
