Demonstrating a desire to understand and engage with each others’ differing backgrounds, outlooks and perspectives. We encourage staff and students to be informed about the latest trends and industry news, to stay one step ahead. Curiosity al us all to think outside the box, be creative, and “ things happen that otherwise would not”.

EGOLESS

GIVING YOUR BEST SELF

Commit 100% and give your best self to others and not just for your own benefit.

HUMILITY

We accept that one individual can’t have all the answers and that asking for input from others around you is not a weakness.

STRIVE TO IMPROVE

You acknowledge that you won’t always be on top of your game, admit when you’ve made a mistake and welcome constructive feedback.

COURAGEOUS

Creating an environment where we are honest with each other will lead to the right, not convenient, outcome. We encourage our students and staff to be the best versions of themselves, staying in our comfort zones is not good enough.

Be honest with yourself first and foremost. Where are you strong and where are you weaker? We’re all here to support your development so this honesty simply helps us to help you. Being courageous enough to be vulnerable with each other removes barriers, creates trust and enables teams to come together in a supportive and inclusive way that lets everyone grow.

We always encourage students and staff to speak up if something just isn’t right. Having this voice to be courageous is something that underpins the entire LMA Way.

MONEY MATTERS

STUDENT FINANCE

You can apply for Student Finance for your tuition fees loan and also apply for a maintenance loan which will help with living expenses whilst you are studying.

When applying for Student Finance you can apply for a tuition fee loan and if eligible, a maintenance loan which can help with living costs whilst studying. Use the student finance calculator to see your entitlement at: www.gov.uk/student-finance-calculator/y

Student finance is available to full-time and part-time UK students who meet the eligibility rules for student finance. Your maintenance loan will be paid directly into your bank account by the Student Loans Company once you have enrolled and started attending your course, the loan is paid in three termly instalments. To find out how to apply for Student Finance, follow this link: www.gov.uk/student-finance-register-login

MANAGING YOUR MONEY

It’s important to know how to manage your money as a student, otherwise it won’t last through term time and holidays. Many choose to stay in the family home to save on living costs, but for others it’s usually the first experience of living away from home. We understand the temptations when your student loans arrive but this exciting time comes with a number of new

responsibilities, including the need to take control of your finances. Try and look for work as soon as possible – there’s likely to be lots of competition! Once you’ve worked out your budget, you’ll see if taking on part-time work is a good idea.

LMA students will have access to the local jobs vacancy section of the LMA app where local businesses update us directly of any vacancies available. These opportunities could be during the holidays or term time.

But don’t neglect your studies – research shows that more than 20 hours of work a week can have a negative impact on academic performance. So if you’re aiming for a job during term time, try and find a good work and study balance.

For advice on money matters, please visit our website and complete the ‘Contact us’ form.

DON’T JUST TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT...

LMA offers a creative environment in a family atmosphere, where tutors are experienced industry professionals, facilities are second to none, and hard work promises to bring great rewards.

Here is what five of our recent graduates have to say about their time at LMA – and why you should follow in their footsteps.

“My time at LMA helped me grow so much as a musician, I wrote my first song when I joined and have continued to write songs ever since. I also learned the basics of piano and guitar which enhanced my writing and performance skills. From my last year I was also lucky enough to have two of my songs produced by my tutor and played on BBC Introducing! I have since continued to write and record with my band and had radio plays from BBC Introducing, Radio X and I have been lucky enough to support artists like Jamie Webster and The Zutons plus performing at festivals such as Isle of Wight and Y Not! Festival, which I couldn’t have even imagined doing before joining LMA.”

Fiona Lennon

Music Performance & Industry Graduate

“My time at LMA was amazing. The training and the facilities were incredible and I made so many friends. The place has a real family feel and is really diverse and welcoming. Since graduating, I got an agent and now work on Carnival Cruises performing and doing what I love whilst travelling the world.”

Evan Harrison

Musical Theatre Graduate

“My time at LMA has given me so much joy and knowledge and helped me find who I am as an actor. I’ve only just graduated and I’ve been working non stop, for Channel 4, Channel Dave and now I’m opening up my own acting association, ‘Acting with Claudia’.”

Claudia Greer Acting & Performance Graduate

“What sets LMA apart from other creative universities are the people you will meet during your studies and how much of an impact they will have on you. Every member of staff truly has your best interest at heart and will do everything to help you on your journey.

LMA gave me the opportunity to genuinely live my dream of a career in Football videography at West Ham Utd FC. With a strong mindset and a brilliant work ethic, it just shows that dreams do come true.”

Danny Strange

Digital Film & TV Production Graduate

“LMA is a great place to go and study under some great talent and really nice welcoming people who look out for their students and strive to get the best out of them. I am now a Senior Character Artist at Expression Games and have worked on several AAA titles such as Fifa, Gotham Knights, WWE to name a few.”

Jake Lamb

Digital Games Art Graduate

Exciting opportunities have included students working on the feature film ‘The Batman’, which was shot in Liverpool and five Film & TV graduates starting full time contracts on a major production with Netflix.

LMA actors have been cast in the award-winning Jimmy McGovern TV series ‘Time’, starring Sean Bean and Stephen Graham too.

We’re also really proud to announce that a number of our students have been chosen to perform at the star-studded Brits Awards Ceremony and LMA have formed two great partnerships for 2024 – one of the biggest Edinburgh Fringe venues, TheSpaceUK, plus the world famous Glastonbury Festival, providing opportunities in the Theatre and Circus fields.

IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU! CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF TALENT AND CONNECTING THEM WITH INDUSTRY.

YOU Festival is an exciting two day event that features unmissable conferences, panels and workshops from the creative industry’s most recognised individuals and prestigious companies. Its aim is to inspire the next generation of young creatives.

This year’s YOU Festival was held in January at the prestigious M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, with tickets exclusively available to LMA students. We welcomed over 110 industry specialists to host workshops and Q&As across LMA’s key degree subjects of Music, Film and TV, Dance, Acting, Gaming, Musical Theatre and Business.

Two incredible days were packed with a wealth of prestigious talent from the BBC, ITV, TikTok, SoundCloud, Glastonbury, Edinburgh Fringe, Banijay Productions, Little Dot Studios, Ripstone and Imaginarium Studios.

We were also honoured to host West End royalty, Kerry Ellis, global choreographers, including Duwane Taylor and Boy Blue, plus Grammy Award-winning music producer, Jason Perry, to name but a few.

There was also an array of evening activities, including amazing performances from LMA Level 6 students, a silent disco, indoor fun fair and DJ sets.

Here is to You Festival 2026...
