Letter from the President
Hello Team Loyalty,
Lots of progress for our Loyalty branding in September, YAY, Finally!!! 95% completed at Broadway just waiting for the slat wall to be delivered. Our exterior signs installed and look Great, just waiting on our electrician to connect the county required timer. Roseville’s Loyalty Luxury is close, I am working closely with the city to complete all of their requirements. So there has been a lot done and we should all be very proud. You all should swing by the Broadway location and check it out.
Not only is the work that is being done at locations a huge accomplishment, but also the huge honor of being recognized as one of Sacramento’s Best Places to Work for 2018 by the Sacramento Business Journal. I want to personally thank all of you for the recognition Loyalty Pawn has received it could not have been done without each and every person in our Loyalty Pawn Family.
Next up is the interior remodel at the El Camino location. Cody has begun working on his scheduling and is communicating with Wayne and I to make sure the remodel goes as smooth as possible. We will have all the supplies ordered and delivered to the El Camino location before work begins so there is no wasted time in running last minute errands. I am sure Cody will be reaching out to you asking for some help, if you can please offer Cody your help.
I would like to also take this time to give a huge shout out to John Mark. These remodels are not an easy task. John led the entire project from start to finish. He had a lot of help and a huge THANK YOU to all that volunteered and helped out. There were several all nighters, long shifts and lots of hard work the remodel could not have been done without all of the help from everyone that stepped up.
Loyalty Pawn is growing, we are growing our brand, we are growing financially, and we are growing within our own team with knowledge. We have several team members going through Gemological Institute of America (G.I.A.) which is a program Loyalty Pawn will be offering to our team members after meeting certain criteria. We also have two different training sessions coming up in October one will be an industry focus group to Canada where we will be observing all of Cash Canada’s operations. We will be bringing back some of Cash Canada’s best practices that will improve the operations of Loyalty Pawn. We will also be bringing a group of Loyalty Pawn team members to the annual California Pawnbrokers Associations (CAPA) industry conference. This is a weekend event that will have vendors and educational seminars from sales training, industry leaders' roundtables, luxury goods authentication and more.
I am so pleased with how Loyalty Pawn is progressing as a company with our culture and with our business growth in loan balance, sales, online presence, efficiency at every level and more. Thank You to all of you, we have accomplished so much in a short period of time. We will also be looking forward to new laser jet printers for pawn tickets, text messaging for a 10-day notices and digital communication with our customers for sales, events and notices. There is 3 months left in the year and the holidays and approaching fast, 2018 seems like it is over already let us continue with the momentum through 2018 and a few more remodels done, have a strong holiday season and get prepared to complete our re brand in the first months of 2019.
Gratefully,
Stan Lukowicz, III
A Letter from the General Manager
Greetings Team,
I would like to start off with many thanks to those who have devoted their time to the store(s) and living the Loyalty values through Loyalty, Dedication and Creativity. It’s very clear that we have a bunch of team members who exhibit these traits and have been very resourceful while helping refresh and remodel the Broadway location. We’re appreciative for the feedback and the help that has gone into this project. We’re currently 90% done and can’t wait for the finishing touches!! The new look will definitely redefine the pawn shop experience for our Loyal customers.
Some individual accomplishments this month were Dominic T. from the Roseville location was the top salesman for the month of September. Mark and Jason Wagner followed in second and third place. Keep it up everyone! We’re hitting milestones in business and sales growth!
Did you know? We have a strong team of thinkers and creators at the West Sacramento location! Justin involves his team in the creative artwork creations for our marketing signage and digital artwork. They’re savvy in creating artwork that best compliments the business. If you have promotional ideas, please reach out to Justin and his team. They would love to hear from you!
Lastly, as we start our 4th quarter, we are excited for the challenge of beating our last years sales. We are going to goal set for October through December to hit $850K in sales company wide. We have great teams and inventory to hit this goal. Soon, we will be seeing an influx in high-end purses and jewelry pieces. These items will be great additions for the holiday season! If you have a Facebook account, don’t hesitate to like and share Loyalty Pawns creations! Let’s keep the sales challenges fun and creative!

Loyalty Pawn Family
Greetings Loyalty family!
I can’t believe we are already in October, where has the year gone? I guess it’s true what they say time flies when you’re busy. As you all know the Broadway team has been working extremely hard to get that store up to date and retail friendly. If you haven’t visited that store in a while you’re definitely in for a treat. As you all know the managers are part of a book club, I must admit I was never really a reader growing up, but after reading a few of these books because of the book club I have gain some great information and tools to better myself. Currently we are reading How to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie, so far so good I recommend everyone pick up a copy. This month we are going to get to Know Jonathan Galupe, he is the assistant manager of the El Camino location. His areas of expertise are video gaming system, electronics, shoes, and watches. Jonathan was born September 11th, 1994 in Sacramento and is the oldest of two siblings. Jon has been in the pawn industry since he was 15 years old and now his brother Parker also works here. One of his favorite memories of working at the shop was his first day here. We were hosting a bikini bike wash for breast cancer awareness. Jon was asked what he liked about the industry and working for Loyalty Pawn he said, “I love the interaction between customers and employees, it’s nice to meet people and learn about their lives.” Being born and raised in Sacramento, CA Jon is a diehard Kings, 49ers, and Giants fan. Jon is currently going through his GIA essentials course Jon has many hobbies, if he’s not working on his cars he enjoys playing video games or sports, he loves to travel, and cooking as well. One of his biggest hobbies is traveling. Some of the places Jon has visited are Spain, France, England, Italy, Greece, Ireland, Switzerland, and many parts of the US. He recently returned from Hawaii I asked Jon what does he love about traveling so much? His response was simple “I love trying new foods and experiencing the culture of foreign countries.” Some of the famous places he has visited are the Colosseum, Mt Vesuvius, Leonard De Vinci’s House, Eifel tower, Blarney castle, the Picasso museum, the Mona Lisa, and the list goes on and on. Traveling to all these different places around the world has made Jon into a real aficionado of different cuisines. Jon hopes to open his own restaurant in the future where he can share his past experiences through food. So, if you’re planning your next trip and need some advice I recommend you contact Jon for some guidance chances are he’s been there before. Now that he’s visited Europe who knows where his next destination would be, but he knows it’s most likely going to be somewhere in Asia. Wherever it is I can’t wait to hear of his next adventure.
Javier Becerra, Operations Manager.

All Hallows Night is right around the corner!
Did you know that one quarter of all the candy sold annually in the U.S. is purchased for Halloween?
Ancient Origins of Halloween
Halloween’s origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in). The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1st. This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death. Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. In addition to causing trouble and damaging crops, Celts thought that the presence of the otherworldly spirits made it easier for the Druids, or Celtic priests, to make predictions about the future. For a people entirely dependent on the volatile natural world, these prophecies were an important source of comfort and direction during the long, dark winter.
Halloween Comes to America
Celebration of Halloween was extremely limited in colonial New England because of the rigid Protestant belief systems there. Halloween was much more common in Maryland and the southern colonies. As the beliefs and customs of different European ethnic groups as well as the American Indians meshed, a distinctly American version of Halloween began to emerge. The first celebrations included “play parties,” public events held to celebrate the harvest, where neighbors would share stories of the dead, tell each other’s fortunes, dance and sing.
Trick-or-Treat
Borrowing from Irish and English traditions, Americans began to dress up in costumes and go house to house asking for food or money, a practice that eventually became today’s “trick-or-treat” tradition. Young women believed that on Halloween they could divine the name or appearance of their future husband by doing tricks with yarn, apple parings or mirrors.
In the late 1800s, there was a move in America to mold Halloween into a holiday more about community and neighborly get-togethers than about ghosts, pranks and witchcraft. At the turn of the century, Halloween parties for both children and adults became the most common way to celebrate the day. Parties focused on games, foods of the season and festive costumes.
Parents were encouraged by newspapers and community leaders to take anything “frightening” or “grotesque” out of Halloween celebrations. Because of these efforts, Halloween lost most of its superstitious and religious overtones by the beginning of the twentieth century. So, now you know.
