loma linda university children's hospital highlights

Tonight, we celebrate you and the vital role you play in ensuring Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital provides exceptional care to children and families across our region.

Our community.

Together, we are creating a brighter future for children and families. In 2024, we celebrated the groundbreaking of a new Specialty Clinics building — a five-story, 105,000-square-foot facility that will open in 2026. This centralized space will bring nearly 30 pediatric specialties under one roof, transforming how we deliver care to the youngest members of our community.

Our mission.

Together, we are continuing the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ by advancing innovations in pediatric oncology, and delivering leading-edge treatments that offer renewed hope to children and their families. Your generosity fuels the research, technology, and expertise that make these life-saving treatments possible.

Our next steps.

Together, we are expanding access to care for the 1.2 million children across San Bernardino, Riverside, Inyo and Mono counties. Each year, more than 90,000 children rely on our hospitals and clinics, benefiting from specialized treatments, including more than 200 pediatric heart surgeries and care for dozens of conditions.

We are shaping a healthier, happier tomorrow for all of the children in our communities, and we are proving that we are, indeed, Stronger Together.

Letter From Foundation Chair

Welcome to the 32nd Annual Foundation Gala, Fly with Us, benefiting Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital.

This evening, we gather in celebration and with a shared purpose — to uplift and support the children in our care who face extraordinary challenges every day. Your presence here tonight speaks to the compassion and commitment that fuels the heart of our hospital and the miracles made possible by our collective efforts.

Through your generosity, Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital continues to stand as a beacon of hope and healing, offering innovative treatments, cutting-edge technology, and unparalleled care to the children and families who need it most. Your support ensures that every child, regardless of their circumstance, has the opportunity to heal and grow.

Tonight, we come together not just to raise funds but to celebrate the resilience of our young patients and to honor the medical teams, volunteers, and donors who help our children fly above the clouds every day. Let’s enjoy this evening, united by the belief that, with hope and community, we can soar to new heights.

Sincerely,

Letter From Administrator

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the 32nd Annual Foundation Gala, benefiting Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. Tonight, we gather to celebrate the spirit of our community and the hope and healing that your generosity makes possible.

As we reflect on over three decades of caring for the youngest and most vulnerable among us, we also turn our gaze to the future. I am thrilled to share exciting developments that will further expand our ability to serve children and families. Our focus now shifts to enhancing pediatric outpatient services, with plans for a dedicated medical office building that will bring vital care under one roof. This step forward represents our continued commitment to creating a seamless, nurturing environment for healing and growth.

Additionally, we are advancing innovations in pediatric oncology, embracing cutting-edge treatments that hold the promise of transforming lives. Through our Stronger Together campaign, we reaffirm our dedication to providing world-class care, driven by compassion and a shared vision of healthier tomorrows.

Your support plays a critical role in these efforts. It is because of you — our donors, partners, and friends — that Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital continues to be recognized as a leader in pediatric care. We are proud to have earned accolades such as recognition as a best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report. These honors reflect not only the quality of care we provide but the collective impact of a community united in its commitment to children’s health.

Thank you for standing with us and for being part of this extraordinary journey. Together, we are shaping a brighter, healthier future for our children.

With gratitude,

Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital

Strongman Jameson: Journey with Leukemia

In the final days of 2020, Jeff and Noelle Creiglow noticed a change in their four-year-old son, Jameson, during a family trip to Arizona. Usually bursting with energy, he became unusually lethargic and clung to his parents. When they returned home to California on New Year's Day, intermittent fevers prompted Noelle to take him to the hospital, where alarming blood test results led to an urgent transfer to Loma Linda University Children's Hospital (LLUCH).

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only one parent could stay with Jameson. Noelle remained by his side while Jeff waited in his car, sleeping there for a week as he anxiously awaited updates. When doctors called them in together, they received devastating news — Jameson had Pre-B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a type of blood cancer requiring immediate treatment.

"You don't fully grasp what the treatment means, and everything feels suffocating like the air has been sucked out of the room," Jeff said.

On January 6, 2021, Jameson underwent surgery to have a port placed for chemotherapy. Jeff and Noelle took shifts at the hospital, ensuring Jameson was never alone.

After two years of difficult treatments, Jameson got to ring the celebratory cancer-free bell, marking the end of chemotherapy, but his family kept the celebration private, still wary of germs and unsure if it was truly over. Monthly clinic visits continued, with frequent blood draws to monitor his health.

On his seventh birthday, Jameson went to the beach to celebrate with his family. During their visit, Jeff and Noelle sensed something was wrong. That night, they were back at LLUCH, where tests initially came back normal, but they still felt uneasy. Dr. Albert Kheradpour, Jameson's oncologist, was at a conference but returned early to check on Jameson and ordered a biopsy. The results confirmed a rare type of relapse. Jeff and Noelle's intuition had been right, and Dr. Kheradpour trusted their concerns despite normal test results.

Jameson's battle with cancer intensified when he relapsed. This time, the symptoms were far worse, requiring intensive chemotherapy, 10 days of proton radiation therapy, and multiple inpatient stays. He experienced numerous side effects, including severe neuropathy in his legs and jaw. Noelle recalled bathing him when his hair began falling out in clumps at an alarming rate, a heartbreaking moment for the family.

Despite the hardships, Jameson's spirit remained unshaken. He found comfort and companionship in the friendships he formed with fellow patients during his long hospital stays. But the reality of their battle was harsh, and not all of Jameson's friends made it through. With love and tenderness, his parents guided him through the pain of loss, helping him understand why some of his friends were no longer with us while honoring the memories they had shared.

Jameson's resilience and wisdom beyond his years left a deep impact. Despite not fully understanding life, he had the ability to comfort and inspire those around him, including adults.

"We've always told Jameson and his older brother Jaxton, 'We can do hard things," said Noelle. "But when he turned to me on a particularly difficult night and said it back, we knew it had become a guiding truth for our family. One of the nurses was in the room with us, and in that moment, we were both in tears."

"Jameson kept telling us that 'It's ok, I've got this,' he just put his arms up, and he made the biggest muscles, and that's how he became known as 'Strongman Jameson,'" said Jeff.

Jameson is set to finish treatment in July 2025, followed by monthly checkups and lab draws. His port is expected to be removed in April 2026, and by July 2030, doctors expect he will be considered cancer-free. Jeff and Noelle are eager to make up for lost time and excited to create lasting memories with their family.
