3.0 Style Guide Wish Upon A Hero is a peer-to-peer social helping network. It gives people the opportunity to help others by granting wishes. Anyone is able to go on the site and randomly become someone’s hero. Wish Upon A Hero works under the mantra, “No wish is too big, no hero is too small.” The basic idea behind Wish Upon A Hero is called crowdsourcing. Crowdsourcing is the process of solving problems by calling on contributions from a large group of people. Companies like Kickstarter, Indie Go Go, and crowdSPRING use crowdsourcing as their backbone and have benefitted tremendously. Wish Upon A Hero is the only social helping site of it’s kind. The narrative theme for Wish Upon A Hero’s campaign is inspiration.

3.1 Logo Elements Wish Upon A Hero inspires people to make a difference in someone’s life. People can directly help others without going through a 3rd party source. A family can get their wishes answered for a bed to sleep on and new jackets for the winter. The hand to star to hand combo was designed to demonstrate the exchange and granting of wishes.

3.3 Typography One of Wish Upon A Hero’s best features is showing how easy it is to help others. With one click, people can make an immediate impact in someone’s life. Sinderman (2011) explains the significance of Wish Upon A Hero and how simple it is, “When’s the last time you got something just because you asked for it? That’s the premise behind Wish Upon a Hero, an online platform that allows anyone to post — or grant — a wish. It’s an interesting experiment in crowdsourced social good. After registering, anybody can post a wish for anything, whether it’s for a positive goal like sending a terminally ill child to camp or simply asking for help with rent. It is then up to the community at large to decide if and who it should help.” I wanted to demonstrate the simple things in life through my dynamic mood board. Everyone craves big things, but it’s the small things that make the world go round. Each picture marks a simple activity. Wilson (2010) states, “Serif fonts are classic, timeless and make your business look established. Sans serif fonts are streamlined, modern and contemporary and make your business look cutting-edge and modern. They’re good for instructions, or any time clarity is important. The sens serif typeface is meant to make the new Wish Upon A Hero logo timeless and easy to read.

3.4 Color Guide The narrative choice behind the Wish Upon A Hero campaign is inspiration. Wish Upon A Hero brings happiness when people have no hope. The social helping network inspires people to make a difference in someone’s life and for others not to give up. Blue, yellow, and white for contrast accurately portrays what Wish Upon A Hero stands for. Chapman (2010) states, “Yellow is often considered the brightest and most energizing of the warm colors. It’s associated with happiness and sunshine.” Chapman also states, “Blue is also used extensively to represent calmness and responsibility. Light blues can be refreshing and friendly. Dark blues are more strong and reliable. In design, the exact shade of blue you select will have a huge impact on how your designs are perceived. Light blues are often relaxed and calming. Bright blues can be energizing and refreshing.”
