Your Memorable Advantage ...focus on impressed children
A message from Steve Lauber, Admissions DirectorAs a child growing up, I learned many things from my grandparents and parents that are still with me today.
Grandma Lauber impressed upon me the beauty of cooking with love. Grandpa Lauber loved bringing our large family together as often as he could. By her actions, Grandma Brown showed me that hard work and fun can go hand in hand.
Lauber impressed some impressive creation facts on 2nd graders during their 2023 field trips to campus. See more pics of 12 visiting schools: llhs.smugmug.com/LES-at-Lakeside
My mom taught me to always think about the many blessings I have without dwelling on negative things that may come up in life. My dad inspired me to remember that when there is a big task in front of me, I shouldn’t look at the huge job, but rather, just take one step at a time, and eventually I’d get it done.
Even though I learned many useful life lessons from all of these great people, what really left a lasting impression on me is they all had a solid love for God. Sunday morning was always church. At bedtime, prayers were said. Before meals we would thank God. They impressed upon me that even though things like old age, cancer, dementia, liver disease, and other obstacles may sneak into our lives, we will be OK. I learned by their words and actions that first and foremost I am a child of God. Heaven is my real home.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up..
(Deueronomy 6:5-7)
Even though I am 53 years old, I can still vividly remember those lessons I learned as a kid. We are the next generation to leave our impression. We live in a world that seems to be turning further and farther away from God. It is now our turn to impress upon our children not just useful life lessons, but more importantly, the treasure that we have in our faith in God.

Spring Break "Dream Vacation"
Last issue's contest asked you to submit 100 words or less about your dream vacation. Those who shared dreams with us won prizes!

Winners
Cameron Slocum 8th grade, Peace Sun Prairie
I would fly away to an unfamiliar country to most Americans, because I desire a change from what I’m accustomed to. I would choose my friends Ella and Sophia to travel with me to Tokyo, Japan. I long to go to new places to find new commodities, because I treasure shopping, and try Michelinstarred Japanese cuisine. I adore the exquisite food I acquire back home, but now I can try it in its correct atmosphere. I would love to walk around Tokyo Tower, since I crave to view the gorgeous architecture and pop culture of the astounding place of Tokyo.
Charlotte Schmoller 3rd grade, Westside Christian, Middleton
For my spring break I would go to the Amazon rain forest. I would bring my mom, dad, and BFF Paisley. I would be able to see so many animals. I would want to see snakes, sloths, monkeys, parrots, and dart frogs. I would want to sleep and live in a tree house. I would eat fruit, berries, and plants. I would go fishing, hiking, swimming, paddle boarding, and canopy bridge walking. I would have a backpack with a pencil, notebook, water bottle, lunchbox, and a sleeping bag. It would be really fun and I would see so much cool stuff.

Impress us with your creativity!
Lakeside begins a new two-year school theme in August — Impressed!
נפשך ובכל מאודך. חָמֵשׁ
It’s based on Deuteronomy 6:5-7 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
והדברים האלה אשר אנכי מצווה
There are many impressive things going on at Lakeside right now, from academic and cocurricular successes to campus updates and additions, but the one lasting impression we want for students is Jesus. We want his love, his forgiveness, and his peace to be impressed on each and every head and heart.

Track Your Advantage
...focus on striving for the finish line
The first Saturday each May, your LLHS hosts a popular middle school track meet. We love seeing so many athletes from so many schools run, jump, and throw to the best of their ability! Thanks to several schools for offering photos from this year's event.

Maybe in a few years, some of this year's grade school athletes will join Warrior Track & Field. Did you hear? Our boys team took the WIAA Division 2 Championship at the State Meet in LaCrosse June 3, 2023! Throughout the season, this year's Warriors broke SEVEN school records—one of those records had been standing for over 30 years. Lakeside & LES = Mathletes
Warrior musicians and athletes and theatre performers and journalists are also our math whizzes! With an enrollment of just over 500, we had 99 Warriors compete in at least one math meet this school year. (That’s about 20% of our students!) Of those, 14 mathletes competed in 5 or 6 math meets. As a bonus, our JV & V teams are Capitol Conference champs—again!
Meanwhile, our April grade school meet is also packed with young mathematicians. Congratulations to the individuals and teams who won this year's event!

Electronic Service Requested
This spring saw two winners of our annual Passport competition, where grade schoolers get their “passports” stamped at regular season home events (usually sports). They needed at least 8 stamps (27 filled their passports!) and then names were randomly drawn to determine winners.

Each received a $500 tuition voucher for their first semester at LL, along with a variety of Warrior gear. Congrats, girls!
