...for learning more mission Lakeside Lutheran High School is committed to assisting parents and area WELS/ELS congregations in nurturing the faith of our students through a Christ-centered education that emphasizes the grace of God in Christ and lives of Christian service in the home, the church and society. Lakeside’s mission is dedicated to the glory of God on whom alone we are dependent for all blessings and is carried out in response to his love for us.
Say hi to our new Recruitment Director, Mr. Steve Lauber! Look for him to visit your school this coming school year, and ask him what it was like to be a judge for this year’s May Banquet “Mr. Lakeside” competition!
Judge Lauber (middle) giv es his comments on “Mr. Lakeside” contestan
about our federation The Lakeside Federation includes 31 congregations in southcentral Wisconsin extending north to south from Beaver Dam to Janesville and east to west from Oconomowoc to Madison.
eginning this fall, Mr. Steve Lauber will take over the Lakeside Recruitment Director position—sometimes the person in this position is considered “the Face of Lakeside.” Does that make him a teacher version of Mr. Lakeside? First teaching in Virginia, then Cudahy, WI, then Crete, IL, Mr. Lauber has been a teacher at your Lakeside Lutheran High School since 2007. He and wife Becca have two children, Trey and Ella, who keep Mom and Dad busy and firmly grounded in understanding what is truly important in life. Being born and raised on a “game farm” in Fond du Lac, Mr. Lauber has always enjoyed the outdoors and the wonders of God’s creation. He is an avid sports enthusiast, and enjoys fishing and hunting any chance he can get. Serving at Lakeside as head JV football coach and as head coach of the forensic team also helps keep him busy during his after-school hours. Mr. Lauber says this role will be an exciting new challenge. The high school years are some of the most complex and life-changing years in our young adults’ lives. Mr. Lauber plans to focus on encouraging both parents and students to recognize and invest in the outstanding secondary Christian education that Lakeside provides.

Lakeside students consistently score above average in every aspect of the ACT test, required for admission to virtually any U.S. university. 84% of Lakeside’s class of 2011 took the ACT, compared to 71% across the state. Even better news is that, compared to 32% statewide and 30 only 25% nationally, almost half of Lakeside students (48%) met the ACT College Readiness Benchmarks in ALL FOUR categories tested, a good indicator of the students’ likelihood of 25 scoring above or average in college coursework. At a time when some schools scale back arts opportunities, Lakeside is as strong as ever. How is this your advantage? For one, did you know research suggests that students who participate in arts programs are at least three times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, elected to class office within their schools, participate in a math and science fair, win an award for school attendance and win an award for writing an essay or poem?* Art: it does a student good! In addition to benefitting your mind, the arts are a monumental way to give glory to our God. As Christians who want to reflect the Savior’s love for us, the arts allow us to do that, whether it be with voice, instruments, dance, writing or visual media. At Lakeside, you’re not just allowed—you’re taught, you’re encouraged. That’s huge! Finally, art is just plain fun! Almost everyone wants to leave a mark—here’s how Lakeside is another advantage. We’re sizable enough to offer a wide variety of opportunity, and personal enough that students who want to be a part of the arts find that it’s not just possible—it’s certain—that there’s a spot where they can shine. With more than 60% of our student body electing to pursue one or more arts, Lakeside’s culture is certainly one of both spark and fuel for aspiring student artists. What will your “art mark” be here at Lakeside? Here are just a few possibilities:
