Yelling Man
Do you know someone like this?
You’re at a sporting event, and you are sitting next to the yelling man.
I’m sure he means well. The yelling man is very passionate because his child is participating in the sport. But he’s not cheering for his child. Instead … The yelling man believes that the referees need his assistance as they do their jobs. I’m sure he means well. He wants everything to be fair. Does he know that his yelling is not helping the refs? It would be better if he were yelling for his child, and not against the refs.

that happened, the atmosphere improved dramatically for everyone in the gym.
May God bless you as you attend sporting events this winter!

Lakeside has won a few “sportsmanship awards” recently because we’ve managed to be loud for our team, and yet respectful to refs and opposing teams at the same time! That’s not an easy balance. Yelling in a positive way for your team and your player is good. Yelling at refs and against opposing players is “out of bounds.”
People watch the fans from Christian schools—they want to know how the Christians will respond when a call doesn’t go their way. Remember: “Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone” (Romans 12:17).
The yelling man doesn’t realize that he’s the opposite of what we read about in 1 Corinthians 13: “Love is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, love keeps no record of wrongs.” The yelling man that I was sitting next to the other day finally settled down. I think he noticed the cold stares of others as they put their hands over their ears. His wife’s command to be quiet also helped him to regain his composure.
And then he began yelling in a good way, cheering for his child and forgetting about the refs. When

If you have a “yelling man” (or woman) in your life—give them this article. Tell them that I wrote this just for them. Your elbow in their ribs as you sit next to them during the next game might also help them to settle down. Yell loudly, in a positive way, for the players you are supporting. Leave everyone else alone.
We want to do “what is right in the eyes of everyone” because God may use our witness, even our cheering, as a testimony to someone pondering the beliefs of Christianity. Each one of us is a witness of Jesus Christ to the world, even at sporting events. May God bless your voice as you cheer on your athletes these next few months. And may God bless the refs too! (Pray for them, rather than yell at them—that will help more!) ❧DS

Just shy of $14,000 was donated toward Project: EQUIP
Our Giving Tuesday-specific financial goal of $15,000 may not have been met December 3, but God provides! Yes, we will be able to purchase the whole cafeteria & reception equipment list because of blessings received since. We know you are asked by many on this well-known giving day, but many of you chose us. Thank you.
Fun generosity fact: Students contributed $400+ after being challenged to give $350. A thoughtful and generous teacher offered to match the student goal. WOW!

With the Phase 2 building project so close to completion, on Sun., Dec. 15, we were blessed to host a ceremony that gave it all back to our gracious God from whom it all came! Several pastors on the Board of Regents— Kevin Hundley (St. John, Newville), Tim Redfield (St. Luke, Watertown) and Tim Nass (St. Paul, Lake Mills)—joined Principal Don Schultz in leading attendees through thoughts from Scripture passages, a capella hymns “God’s Word is Our Great Heritage” and the Doxology—and a dedication rite— before throwing open the doors to the new cafeteria for tours and fellowship. We are thrilled to share we are also blessed to have the project fully funded, meaning the entire $3.5 million project will be accomplished debt-free.
By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ 1 Corinthians 3:10-11
