Summer is Sabbath Time

Right now students are taking a break from the routine of school. So are teachers! Maybe parents are too. Summer is a time we all like to get away, even if it’s just for a short while.

The Bible talks about taking a break. They called it the “Sabbath.” It was a time to stop the normal routines of life and rest. Break time!

But don’t expect an answer until August.

There was the physical rest. But God also intended people to find rest for the soul. And the only way to rest the soul was to spend time in his Word, the Bible.

“Remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy” (Exodus 20:8). In other words, stop your normal routine and rest your soul in God’s Word. And you will be blessed!

May God bless your summer. Take a break before the normal routines of school before it all starts up again! And spend some time in God’s Word. Your well-rested soul will thank you!
