welcome new faculty member mr. glen pufahl! Mr. Glen Pufahl, from Lakeside’s own class of 2000, is enthusiastic for the upcoming school year. On June 17, he accepted the divine call to head the Lakeside band program and teach sophomore English. “I was very excited to receive the call,” says Glen. “I am looking forward to the challenge.” Mr. Pufahl and wife Kaitlyn live in Waterloo, as he most recently served St. John School as teacher and music coordinator. Katie is a nurse practitioner in Beaver Dam. When he isn’t singing first tenor or playing brass instruments, Glen likes to golf, and the Pufahls enjoy camping and biking. Glen grew up in Lake Mills and attended St. Paul School, where his parents continue to work. His three brothers and one sister also attended Lakeside Lutheran, so he is already very familiar with the school. Mr. Pufahl is ready to “return” to Lakeside and take on the duties that comes with older students, being a 2005 graduate of the Secondary Teachers Education Program (STEP) at MLC with a double major in elementary and secondary education (music). “The Lord is good,” he says. “I know he will continue His ministry in wonderful ways.” Be sure to say hi to him when you see him!

Classroom review is the model for spiritual learning. We hear, read and learn the truths of God’s Word. But we are forgetful. We fail to remember or
just sinfully overlook what God says. The devil, the world, and our own sinful flesh lead us to disregard what we have learned. We constantly need to review Scripture. Many assume that spiritual education ends with Confirmation and there is no need to grow in spiritual knowledge or review God’s Word after that. However, Confirmation is only a benchmark; it provides a basis for young adults who join the fellowship of believers to know with confidence what they profess to believe. There is room for growth. The Apostle Peter underscores this when he writes, “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation” (1 Peter 2:2). Peter does not discount the blessings of Christian education. Our children learn the truths of God’s Word in home and in school. However, once those basics are learned, our children are ready to “grow up in [their] salvation.” They read,
