Dreaming of the Dead

A Glimpse of Heaven

May We Talk? Way back when I had my first interaction with the dead, I couldn’t help but notice that they communicated quite differently than we do on Earth. Whether they came in form or dreams they usually spoke to me with what I called “mindtalk,” or a sort of mental telepathy from their mind to mine. It is like listening to someone’s voice that has bypassed your hearing and gone straight into your head. Communicating with the dead when I was a young child was relatively easy. In fact, it was both easy and fun, although I do remember that I initially covered my mouth with my hand so that I wouldn’t speak to them in words but with mind-talk. But I caught on quickly, and after a few visits with the dead who came to me in form, I found that this way of communication felt quite natural.

Getting the Sensation If I were to attempt to describe what it is like to visit with the dead in my dreams, I would liken it to having one foot firmly planted in the earthly realm and the other in their world. As long as the balance is maintained I am able for a short time to become a very privileged inhabitant of both places. Consequently, when I visit with the dead in my dreams, the sensation of actually being there totally unencumbered by any preconceived notions of the afterlife is incredible. The dreams are always random for me, and the dead always choose the landscape we will meet in as well as the duration of the dream visit—I am no medium who can summon spirits—and this goes for both departed humans and pets.
