he art of manifestation is a concept dating back thousands of years to the philosophical and spiritual teachings of the Vedas. Variations on this empowering practice have stood the test of time and are present in the world’s major religious traditions. It is certainly no surprise that people today seek the transformative promise that manifestation holds.

As a student and author in the area of yoga, I am endlessly fascinated by the power of the mind. Yoga teaches that when the mind quiets, the infinite is accessible. This mysterious connection between our mind and manifesting what we desire is the subject Tsikki Thau so beautifully illuminates and expands upon in her book Attract It All. Tsikki offers much wisdom and inspiration, starting with the fundamental premise that pursuing our dreams, or what we desire, is worth it. We can so easily get caught up in all xv

that life demands and give up on our innermost hopes and dreams, deeming them unrealistic. Life is challenging, and while it’s true that tremendous hurdles often block our path, Attract It All provides the impetus and motivation to believe in ourselves enough to seek the life that we long for and deserve.

veryone has a unique path for their personal manifestation journey. There isn’t a right or wrong way to get started.

It’s entirely possible to embark on your manifestation journey purely by following your own inner guiding force, without consciously thinking about it, or you can be intentional and deliberate, following the guidance of an experienced practitioner (such as myself ). You are never too young or too old. You might be a job seeker, someone who is new xix

to the workforce, a longtime employee, a senior executive, a business owner, an artist (i.e., writer, painter, musician, etc.), or someone who dreams of making a career change.

You may be poor, wealthy, or anywhere in the middle. You might long for worldwide fame or just seek recognition in your specific area of interest.

What does this all mean? Manifestation—and this book—is for anyone and everyone at any stage in their lives. In other words, this book is for you—no matter where you might be on your path.

It happens that, in my case, I began my journey when I was a mere preschooler. As far back as I can remember, I have always had a connection to what I describe as the energy that binds us all together and a natural attunement to breath control, although at the time I did not yet understand that my practice was a form of meditation.

My earliest specific memory experiencing this energy was when I was four years old. I remember feeling as if I was being embraced by an inexplicable surge of unconditional love.

With that emotion came a bright—almost blinding—light.

I discovered that I had the ability to tap into this energy at will. It was always there for me, whenever I wanted or needed it. This light was my dearest friend, and I would often find myself saying, “I love you too,” for I felt safe and embraced by love. I thought everyone could see and feel what I did.

It wasn’t until much later in life that I realized my greatest

desire and lifelong mission would be to show others the path to finding unconditional love that would grant them their heart’s deepest desires.

About one year passed after I first felt that powerful energy. Something extraordinary happened while I was running through the fields of towering yellow flowers surrounding my home in Israel. Somehow I instinctively knew how to position and prepare myself for meditation. I sat down in a random spot, cradled amidst a sea of yellow, with my back perfectly upright. I stared at the sky, closed my eyes, and took several deep breaths. I became so engrossed in the spontaneous ritual that my mind disappeared for hours, and my grandmother had to come search for me in the fields.

The remarkable sensations stuck with me, and I repeated the activity as often as possible. Inevitably, my grandmother would have to track me down, which I made difficult for her because, frankly, I didn’t want to go home. My self-taught meditation became an addiction, a way for me to detach from the pain that wreaked havoc upon my family.

You see, when my younger brother, Offir, was only seven months old, he was diagnosed with a rare, life-threatening disease: Hand-Schüller-Christian. A description of the illness would sound incomprehensible to a nonmedical professional, but trust me when I say that it is horrific, and the survival rate is not good. At the time, proper medical treatment wasn’t available in our native country, Israel, which meant my

father had to raise money to travel to America and find the right specialists.

I was only four years older than my brother, but I felt his suffering on a deep level. It made me feel empty inside. I was tormented and in a perpetual state of fear, stress, and hopelessness.

Not only did I experience both my brother’s pain and my own, but I also felt the intense grief of those around me.

My grandmother’s agonizing screams made me tremble. My mother’s tears haunted me. She tried so hard to be strong for the family, and I felt an immense amount of compassion for her. I did whatever I could to ease my family’s stress. I danced, put on shows, and constantly reminded them that everything was going to be all right.

It was then that my grandmother taught me how to pray deeply and believe in miracles. My most trusted tools became prayer and my breath. I pleaded with God to take me instead of Offir.

In time, I discovered through my private sessions that I could regulate my emotions and state of being. I created moments of great peace for myself, even when I was surrounded by turmoil. Realizing that a significant portion of emotional struggle was mental, I played games with my pain. Whenever it showed up, I would greet it and say, “Hello, pain, welcome to my body. I see that you are there.

I know that you will stay as long as you need to, but I ask that you leave when you are ready.”

This simple internal conversation enabled me to carry on because it convinced me that the pain would eventually dissipate. The process also granted me the freedom to let go and attend to other things. I learned how to befriend strife and hoped to someday be able teach others how to do the same.

I never stopped believing in miracles—even as my brother lay immobilized in a body cast in a foreign hospital.

Four excruciating years went by until Offir miraculously opened his eyes and asked for a glass of milk. The doctors were in shock as he gradually gained mobility and began his road to recovery.

Offir eventually became a healthy boy and robust man, unexpectedly developing immense physical and internal strength. He never took a single moment for granted. I believe that his understanding of what he had endured as a child propelled him to constantly strive to improve himself and the lives of others.

My brother was my everything: my heart, my best friend, my protector, my mentor, my rescue remedy, my twin flame, and the familial love of my life. He was kind, sweet, loving, nonjudgmental, protective, and disciplined. We shared the most perfect divine love and profound friendship. Unlike

most siblings, we never had a single argument. Our relationship was imbued with ultimate respect. We praised each other as if he were my king and I his queen. We raised each other up whenever we faced a setback or were down about something.

Offir became a fitness coach and martial arts instructor as well as a poker player and dealer. We opened an exercise studio together in Las Vegas, where he taught martial arts and I taught yoga, dance, and meditation. Offir built a significant following. His essence was contagious. He saw only the best in people and served as a role model to many. Men looked up to him for his strength and brilliant martial arts techniques. Women fell head over heels for him because he was beautiful—inside and out.

He had that special something, a pure light that moved people. Offir was there for people whenever they needed him. He was a rare combination of being an excellent selfmotivator and a tremendous inspiration to others.

One day, thirty-year-old Offir limped over to me while in immense pain. “My leg, my leg,” he repeated. I had a terrible feeling about this—Offir had a high threshold for pain and wasn’t one to complain—and told him to head straight to the hospital.

A while later, he called me from the hospital and said, “Tsikki, are you sitting down? I have stage 4 brain cancer. I have a giant tumor in my brain, and I don’t have long to live.”

My own brain felt like it was splitting in two. I ran outside and screamed at the top of my lungs, “Take me instead of him!”

Offir was my other half, my life. I had never felt so helpless. The worst thing about it was that I couldn’t fix it, not even through prayer. I could deal with anything, but not this.

Cancer treatment began immediately, and Offir fought hard. We tried everything to save him, but no one was prepared for such a rapid deterioration. Watching my brother lose his prodigious physical and mental abilities caused indescribable anguish to my family and me.

Finally, having reached the end of his rope, Offir asked me to lie outside with him under the stars. “I am ready,” he said. “I am ready for this transition. It doesn’t feel like it’s my time. I have so many dreams, so much I want to do, and it’s not fair, yet I surrender. I forgive everything and everyone. I forgive myself. I forgive and it is so blissful.”

He held my hand as we gazed up at the stars. “Just know that this is my most peaceful moment,” he murmured.

My brother was surrounded by love during his final days. Even in his dying moments he thought of others and wished to establish Offir’s Dream Foundation for brain cancer research. His dream was to provide a loving support system for anyone suffering from brain cancer. As someone who was loved by so many, he recognized that love is the secret to making everything okay.

Offir passed away at thirty years of age—six months after his diagnosis—on October 21, 2008. Despite having suffered from a near-fatal childhood illness, he grew up just fine and accomplished so much in his brief life. He emigrated to the United States, received his green card, and had several successful careers.

When my beloved brother passed away, I dropped to the lowest point in my life. I didn’t want to live anymore. I desperately wanted to be with Offir.

Melissa, my wife, was my tower of strength, providing massive love—affectionate, supportive, and tough—as I wallowed in a prolonged mourning period. She once slammed a door so hard that it awakened something inside me. “We need you and we cannot go on without you,” she reminded me. “We have two sons to raise.”

Her words moved me. I knew at that moment that I needed to live.

I continue to see Offir everywhere, especially in my boys’ faces and strength. He is with me wherever I go. He motivates me all the time, and for that reason I know nothing can stop me from achieving any goal I seek to pursue.

If you have ever lost someone near and dear to you, like Offir was to me, or are currently experiencing a dire circumstance, recognize that emotional pain doesn’t have to be a long-term condition. Not only can it be compartmentalized, but it may also be used as a powerful force to manifest

what you truly seek. While pain has been a common thread throughout my life, I do not permit it to consume me. In fact, it’s the opposite: I channel the energy and use it to my advantage. It brings me closer to the light and allows me to have empathy for others. I constantly tell my clients the following: Pain is a reminder that we are alive.

The above may sound counterintuitive, but be aware that struggle is an inevitable part of life and occurs for a variety of reasons that may be unknown to us at the time. For now, trust that the universe is mysterious and always has your back. Pain exists to help us surrender and bring us back to our source. With darkness comes light and understanding.

Through forty-five years of dedicated practice, I have been able to expand on my learning and develop tools and manifestation techniques that have helped my thousands of clients worldwide heal from pain, regulate their breath, and connect to the strength that resides in every one of them.

Through strict observance of my breath, I have been able to remove negative patterns and positively reprogram my way of thinking and being. I see the mind as a musical instrument that can be tuned to the frequency you desire.

Helping others manifest their purpose is my purpose. I coach people to discover how great and capable they are, and that all the possibilities they need and want are right there in front of them—beyond perceived fears and limitations. I awaken my clients so they can see the multitude of

lease take a moment to think about what you hunger for in your life. Let go and dream big, as if no limitations were present. Allow yourself to become free and childlike and let your imagination run wild. Do you …

• dream of becoming abundantly rich, with enough time on your hands to enjoy all that wealth?

• seek fame, recognition, and glory for your talents and accomplishments?

• strive to climb to the top rung of your company’s ladder?

• wish to someday become your own boss and own your own business?

• crave a mutually fulfilling romantic relationship that lasts?

• long to own a big house in a good neighborhood to raise a family or a vacation home where you can enjoy several weeks of rest and relaxation each year?

• covet the idea of having a healthy, fit, and athletic body?

• wish to have enough freedom to travel and explore the world?

• desire what money cannot buy: emotional and mental health and stability?

• want something else entirely?

I would wager that you conjured more than one item from the above list, if not as many as four or five. If you were to go back in time to your childhood, you probably would have checked half of those desirable outcomes.

The wonderful thing is that no matter how old you are or what setbacks you may have faced in your life, it’s never too late to make your deepest, wildest dreams come true.

This isn’t some woo-woo fad, sleight of hand, or magical hocus-pocus. The power resides within you—your mind,

heart, and soul—to turn your dreams into reality. Neither I nor anyone else can do it for you.

“How is this possible?” you ask. “What is this secret I’ve been keeping from myself ?”

Manifestation We’ll explore what manifestation is—and what it isn’t—in detail in chapter 1. For now, all you need to know is that it is the process of turning a theoretical idea into reality through deep thoughts, emotions, and feelings. Manifestation empowers you to generate desired outcomes through the sheer force of your focused, concentrated mind. In a sense, you are willing things to happen.

These concepts may seem intangible, as they can’t be seen, but they are quite real. In chapter 1 of his classic book Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill wrote: “Truly, ‘thoughts are things,’ and powerful things at that, when they are mixed with definiteness of purpose, persistence, and a burning desire for their translation into riches, or other material objects.”

Not only are thoughts things, but they also carry significant energy along with them. That charge of power can’t be seen, heard, touched, or smelled, but it exists all the same. Some noted celebrities have attributed their success to manifestation. For example, while struggling as a young performer, comedian, and actor, Jim Carrey famously wrote

a check to himself for $10 million, predated it by ten years, and tucked it into his wallet. Right on the button a decade later, he struck paydirt, landing a prized role in the film Dumb and Dumber. The amount of his paycheck? $10 million! Apparently, Mr. Carrey was much smarter than his onscreen character in that film and successfully manifested his dream to the exact penny.1 Are you ready to accept my manifestation challenge?

What do you have to lose? It won’t cost you anything—the price of this book aside—and will take up only a few minutes of your day. Trust me, this will be time well spent, and it’s as easy as 1-2-3.

Break On Through The universe is inundated with a googolplex of requests daily. (Little-known fact: A googolplex, or ten to the power of a google—which itself is 10 to the power of 100—is the largest number a human being can conceive.) Just a teenytiny fraction of these manage to break through all this noise.

QUESTION: How are certain people able to tune into the wisdom of the universe when the odds seem to be stacked against them?

ANSWER: They have dialed into the right frequency.

While the odds might seem insurmountable, it is possible to propel yourself ahead of the multitudes of competitive wishes from others and connect to what we shall refer to as the universal hotline. To achieve rapid results, you need the correct signal, intention, and programming. Throughout this book, I will provide you with practical instruction and hands-on exercises for how to turn your thoughts into signals that get ahead of the pack, connect with the universal hotline, and help you achieve tangible results.

In advance of working on the exercises, I suggest you select a beautiful notebook or journal to devote specifically to chronicling your manifestation journey. The design, binding, and paper of the notebook or journal should call out to you as something special and meaningful. You will be using this tool a great deal throughout the process, as it will also contain your innermost thoughts, feelings, and desires that you will then magnify out to the universe. If you devote enough time, respect, and love as I prescribe in this book, the signals you memorialize within the pages of your journal will wield exceptional power.

Conquering Negative Thought Patterns Our minds are constantly filled with negative thoughts.

Sometimes it seems we can’t control them, and they overtake us. Scientific research has found that, on average, 80 percent

of our thoughts are negative. At the same time, 95 percent of our thoughts are repetitive.2 We’ve already established two things: (1) thoughts are things, and (2) our thoughts become signals that zoom out into the universe. Since our minds are often filled with so much negativity, our positive thoughts end up lost in the morass.

For this reason, we can’t blame other people, stumbling blocks, or bad luck when our dreams remain unfulfilled.

ing her back from accomplishing her heart’s desires. Both of her parents had struggled from gambling addiction, which put a financial strain on the household and triggered her father to be violent and abusive. When she was twelve, Alice relocated to Guam with her father, who left her mother and sister behind in the United States so he could raise fighting roosters. As if this bizarre circumstance wasn’t enough, Agnes’s father began to molest her. Although Child Services became involved, her family considered the sexual abuse to be a fabrication. She returned to the United States but found her family’s issues too much to handle and ran away from home, never to return.

I first encountered Agnes when she was in her twenties and working in a health food store in Las Vegas. While it was positive that she was employed, her life was at low ebb due to her nightmarish past. She suffered from crystal meth drug addiction and couldn’t sustain relationships. I developed a connection with Agnes and, although her situation was mired in severe challenges, offered to help her turn her life around under the one condition that she stop taking drugs.

Her reply to my offer was full of skepticism. “How do I know you’re not the devil?” she asked.

I laughed off her response and committed myself to helping her reverse her anger and underlying resentment. Over the next twenty-four hours—during which she ditched the

drugs—I earned her trust, and we embarked on a journey together that involved intuitive counseling, energy movement, and healing remedies. I introduced my manifestation program to her, which included exercises such as the Doors and the Love Arrows, to achieve self-love, success, and happiness.

Gradually I could see a massive transformation taking place. Agnes discovered self-love by letting go of her guilt over having been a victim of abuse. She released years of anger and resentment through meditation. She embarked on a wonderful career in government—with numerous promotions over the years—fell in love, started a family, and became a compassionate mother. She never again touched an illegal drug.

If Agnes was able to return from such a deep abyss, you also have the power within to conquer whatever demons you may be facing and experience a rebirth that brings you joy and fulfillment. All you need to do is put your faith in a little devil like me to show you the way. The concept of manifestation is not a new thing, although the term has come into vogue in recent years. As far back as ancient Greece, storyteller Aesop (yes, of Aesop’s Fables fame) wrote something along the lines of, “The level of our success is limited only by our imagination.”

In chapter 4, I’ll present the case that it’s not enough to just have broad desires. You must drill down to create specific goals that support your innermost wishes. Once these goals have been memorialized in writing, they must align with your values and beliefs. I’ll offer positive affirmations that will reinforce those intentions and ensure they remain at the forefront of your mind.

Although manifestation comes from within, it is not intended to be a one-sided process. The universe responds more favorably to your requests when authentic gratitude has been expressed. Being thankful enhances the process, enabling your mindset to shift from a place of scarcity to one of abundance. In chapter 5, I will provide simple tools and exercises to help cultivate a daily practice that will turn gratitude into a giving attitude throughout your lifetime.

Visualization and projection—the subjects of chapter 6—are the core skills involved in manifestation, and anyone can do them. The trick is to use your innate power and truly believe that what you desire is already here. It must be seen clearly within your mind as something real and in existence. The powerful visualization and projection exercises presented in this chapter will help you tune into the right frequency and turn your thoughts and images into reality.

A violinist doesn’t make it to playing Carnegie Hall without years of intensive practice. A soccer (football) player doesn’t get selected for a World Cup team without hav-

ing done the same grueling drills thousands of times over and over. Any skill or art form worth doing and perfecting requires intense concentration while repeating the same actions. When it comes to manifestation, conjuring certain thoughts and images in the mind and convincing yourself that they are real creates new habits and belief systems. In chapter 7, you’ll learn the art of willpower and how to cultivate the inner strength that already resides within you. I’ll provide practical tools to stay motivated and inspired and take consistent action toward achieving your goals.

Any amount of skepticism or doubt will detract from the effectiveness of manifestation sessions. In chapter 8, “Trusting the Universe,” I will guide you on how to build unbridled confidence in yourself and the process. You must believe that the universe always has your back. Sometimes attachments to unwanted outcomes are so strong—or have previously flooded the universe to such an extent—that an even greater faith is required to annihilate them. When the desire conflicts with what the universe wants to provide, you must hone the skill of detachment.

Chapter 9 offers the first of three secret and unique manifestation exercises I created myself. “The Doors” explores the unknown, enabling you to speed up the process and instantly develop a healthy mindset that heals the body.

The key is certainty—in yourself and in the unknown. The power of the Doors resides in its ability to shift a person

away from the old self and toward the true self. You will learn how to sync with the earth’s rotation and send a laserbeam signal that will be heard by the universe—which, in turn, will grant your deepest desires.

The universe has its own mysterious plans for when we are destined to enter and exit this world. I believe that death isn’t the issue, but rather how it devastates the people who are left behind. In chapter 10, I will show you exercises, tips, and tricks to get through this agonizing period of mourning as quickly as possible while celebrating the people (and pets) who have moved on to the next stage of existence.

There is nothing more precious than our physical and mental health. No matter how much we take care of our bodies and minds, there is always a chance something could go awry beyond our control. In chapter 11, I will provide a secret manifestation exercise that can reverse disease, speed up recovery from injury, ease chronic pain, and safeguard your future health.

cent of Americans admit they don’t have enough money.3 There is nothing ethically or morally wrong with asking the universe for abundance that will help improve the quality of life for you and your loved ones. In chapter 12, I’ll introduce you to another powerful manifestation exercise: “The Money Arrows.” This simple projection tool helps cultivate gratitude—a language that dials into the universe to grant abundance. The phrase “I love money and money loves me” may sound strange at first, but this mantra initiates a positive exchange of energy that becomes a magnet for financial abundance.

The Dalai Lama reportedly once said, “Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.”

According to Gallup’s annual Mood of the Nation survey conducted in January of 2024, less than half of Americans were very satisfied with their lives, which was a shocking statistical drop from prior years.4 In chapter 13, I’ll explain the last of my manifestation gifts: “The Love Arrows.” This exercise teaches you how to fall in love with yourself while filling in the empty spaces with an outpouring of love. The Love Arrows paves the way to true love, which attracts more love in all aspects of life.

Chapter 14, “Creating Your Reality Dream Board,” is especially near and dear to my heart, as I’ve never shared this publicly, except with a few clients. You’ve probably heard of vision boards before, but this creative process is specific to manifestation and involves my unique method that brings your dreams into the present.

In the conclusion, “Your Future Is Now,” I will wave you off on your continuing journey with inspirational closing words and a reassuring hug. Lastly, in the appendix I offer “Your Personalized Manifestation Program,” which will help you curate your own schedule of manifestation exercises based on your needs, wants, and desires. You will be able to map out an entire year of routines in advance.

elcome to the world of manifestation! I bet you are bursting with curiosity to learn how this remarkable practice originated and what it’s all about. I promise I won’t overwhelm you with too many details. For this first chapter, we’ll dip our toes in the shallow end of the pool as I introduce you to a few basic, essential things you should know— the origins and history of manifestation, as well as what the practice is (and isn’t)—before we embark on our journey

together. I’ll start by telling a story about one of my clients so you’ll have an immediate idea of how my process works.

Guy’s Wild Ride Guy Dunlap was just a kid of about twenty-three when I met him in 2012. He was wide-eyed and filled with curiosity. Guy, who had first heard about my work through another poker player, aspired to find balance and become a top professional. He had won his share of matches, but despite his early successes as a young professional card player, the odds of a successful long-term career were naturally stacked against him. Many gifted players before him had been forced to count their losses and move on to what others might consider real careers, something he hoped to avoid.

As a longtime Las Vegas resident and professional who has worked with numerous poker players, I’ve found that they are often all over the place and on the edge as a result of their lifestyles. They venture from darkness to light and back again every day without having a clue where they are heading. They seek two things: balance and success. Their lives are constantly in flux and riddled with instability. A poker player might go on a winning streak for three days but then hit the skids and lose for the next couple of weeks, making it seem as if the whole world is crashing down.

rating highs and soul-crushing lows, is not for the faint of heart.

I was drawn to Guy as a manifestation client for several reasons. I identified infinite raw possibilities deep within him, and I was immediately struck by his intense curiosity and childlike eagerness to learn. He was different from most poker players, as he seemed so pure, honest, open-minded, and willing to admit to his own mistakes. There was something confident yet humble about him. He disliked being the center of attention, although he had a natural magnetism that drew in everyone, children and animals included.

Right away, I intuitively picked up on his essence and felt he had the power to change the world.

Guy became an apt pupil, prepped and ready to get started on his manifestation journey without even being aware that he already had the perfect beginner’s mindset.

Rather than approaching me with a typical client demand, such as “I need a quick fix,” “What’s the trick?,” or “How do I win big?,” he wanted to find balance and stay centered so that he could stabilize his emotions and, in turn, his career and life. He desired to be able to handle the ups and downs of a poker career with greater emotional intelligence and finesse. He sought to control his reactions, whether he won or lost. When he washed out—which is inevitable for every poker player at some point, no matter how skilled they might be—he didn’t want to feel an uncontrollable (albeit

human) urge to start screaming. He was curious about learning how to meditate and broaden his intuitive abilities. And, of course, he longed to become a poker champion with a gold bracelet on his wrist.

I didn’t hesitate to take Guy on as a private one-on-one client. At the time I recall saying to him, “You have already won just by seeking this.”

We met regularly, forming an immediate teacher-student bond. I taught Guy that consistent winning requires more than just a solid grasp of the game; it demands fortified mental and spiritual resilience, facets that I helped him explore and harness. I provided him with several powerful manifestation tools, including the creation of a vision board that I refer to as a Reality Dream Board, in which he created a visual image of his desired future as if it were real and occurring in the present. (You’ll learn more about how to create a Reality Dream Board in chapter 14.) We subsequently moved on to the Love Arrows manifestation exercise (covered in chapter 13), where he fully absorbed the concept of gratitude to help him dial into the universe.

I assured Guy that daily practice of these techniques would bring his desires to fruition. He set his sights on winning first place in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) tour-

nament—and slipping the trophy bracelet on his wrist— which loomed six months away.

For the following six months, Guy dedicated himself with unwavering diligence to my teachings and techniques.

As the days passed, the exercises began to feel more tangible for him, growing in clarity and ease.

Before we knew it, the World Series of Poker was upon him. One adrenaline-fueled day, after endless hands and strategic plays, Guy found himself basking in the glory of victory. He won the coveted WSOP and the prized gold bracelet. The image of being a WSOP bracelet-holder was no longer confined to the realm of his dreams but had transitioned into victorious reality. Years later, he continues to be a treasured client and an ongoing poker success story, with several tournament wins, including multiple bracelets.

Guy succeeded because he placed his trust in the universe. He understood not only that manifesting can be as easy as 1-2-3 to learn with the right coach and tools, but also that it would take time and patience for the universe to receive his messages and respond. Most of all, he grasped the full, rich meaning of manifestation as an art form and daily practice.

Now it’s your turn to be like Guy and turn up your curiosity level.

The Origins of Manifestation The word manifest can be traced back thousands of years to ancient Sanskrit, where it was defined as “to show.”5 Hindu Vedas on the Indian subcontinent (around the second century BCE) were firm believers in the laws of attraction (which we’ll cover throughout this book) and introduced visualization techniques in the Rig Veda (an assemblage of over a thousand hymns dedicated to the gods); the Sama Veda (melodies and chants used in rituals); the Yagur Veda (formulas and prayers); and the Atharva Veda (spells, charms, and magical incantations that were used to treat illness and injuries). The yoga nidra (“yogic sleep”) practice involves a shavasana (the “corpse pose”) in which a profound state of relaxation occurs, causing “a state of consciousness in which one’s awareness of multiple levels of existence is greatly improved.”6 Ancient Buddhism also developed many insightful theories and practices that contributed to the evolution of manifestation. While Gautama Buddha never claimed to have invented the concept of the law of attraction—if anything, he believed that all ideas already existed in some form—he

professed that good intentions behind good thoughts lead to desired outcomes, as he is believed to have said: All that we are is the result of what we have thought: it is founded on our thoughts and made up of our thoughts. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, suffering follows him as the wheel follows the hoof of the beast that draws the wagon. … If a man speaks or acts with a good thought, happiness follows him like a shadow that never leaves him.

Let’s not forget Taoism—the venerable Chinese religion and philosophy that instructs people on how to harmoniously exist with the universe—which is perhaps my personal favorite of all belief systems. Taoism took hold in the fourth and fifth centuries BCE with the seminal works the Tao Te Ching (attributed to Lao Tzu, also known as Laozi), which teaches integrity, simplicity, harmony, and balance, and the Zhuangzi (by Zhuang Zhou),7 a collection of parables promoting human spontaneity.8 Lao Tzu’s philosophy is filled with powerful wisdom that continues to resonate today and is embedded in manifestation as an art form: “A fulfilled, happy life may be derived by aligning with the natural flow of the Tao, the all-powerful force that binds the universe.”

MANIFESTATION DOESN’T CONTRADICT RELIGION

Perhaps the best part of manifestation is that you can practice it without doing anything that contradicts your current religious beliefs and/or affiliation. It doesn’t involve prayer and there isn’t a deity involved. You can be Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, Taoist, Buddhist, an atheist, or agnostic and still benefit greatly from the art of manifesting.

It should be no surprise that the practice of meditation plays a prominent role in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism. From my standpoint, all these different philosophies, beliefs, and practices bring something beneficial and wondrous to the table and aren’t at odds with one another; in a sense, they represent different perspectives of the same universe with different approaches on how to connect with it. There are many roads that will lead you to your desired destination. To me, it’s like looking through a kaleidoscope and determining which colorful images resonate the most for you and which route you’d like to take.
