Analyse Jester and LK Cox, both passionate about fashion, embarked on a mission to bring a touch of glamour to the people of Norman. Being Journalism students, they recognized a golden opportunity to not only inspire their fellow residents with fashion marvels but also foster a hub for artistic innovation. And so, The Campus Edit was born—Norman community's foremost fashion and editorial magazine. Driven by the desire to educate and entertain, this publication strives to offer a plethora of captivating and enlightening content to its loyal readers.

CHERRY! BOMB! POP! Cheers to the 2023 Holiday Season. Red is the color of the season this fall-winter. Get ready to see Red in all articles of clothing this season.

Whether it's leather, shoes, bags or just a bold lip, red is the right way to go. Seen across many different designers during fashion week, this color made a bold statement on the runway.

The trend for the past few months has shifted towards a more neutral, sleek look. However, what better way to add a fun pop of color to an otherwise dull outfit, than a cherry red accessory.

Throughout history this color has always made a bold and powerful statement. In many cultures this color represents royalty. Cities, such as Venice, created fortunes by dyeing garments with such a precious and valuable color.

(Butler Greenfield 32) Powerful families across the world sought after the perfect red color for their clothing and furniture.

However the color eventually gained a naughty reputation. Shifting from a reputation of power and fame, to sinful and dangerous.

This bright, captivating color is taking over and right in time for Holidays too. Red can be intimidating, understandably. Navigating such a daunting color can be difficult. Red shows confidence. It is bold, bright, and brilliant. Paired with a more neutral outfit, a small pop of red can change your whole look.

This color has had many reputations since its lifetime.

Some generations view the color as giving off the “wrong idea.” However as society continues to grow If you wish to stay more neutral with your we understand that what we wear does not correlate to everyday style, try adding a small pop of red in our morals. Now, red is having the ultimate accessories such as a belt or bag. comeback.

One of my favorite accessories is a pair of bright ballet flats. The delicacy of the ballet flat balanced out by the eccentric red color is just enough juxtaposition for an elegant yet daring look. And of course, you can never go wrong with a simple red lip to fully transform any outfit.

Or you can try a red leather jacket, killing two birds with one stone. Keeping yourself warm with a sleek leather jacket, especially in such a fun color. An all black outfit with a red jacket is such a simple yet bold look for this fall. It’s an easy to throw on outfit that still looks put together and thoughtful.

Here at the OU, the color red has always been a staple in any Sooners wardrobe. Red cowgirl boots, a red lip, red pants even. Every gameday, it is the color crimson’s time to shine. This holiday season take your gameday clothes and transform them into your everyday outfits.

This Holiday Season, experiment with the classic cherry red color and see your confidence transform.

Go for the bright red rather than the dull burgundy we have seen in the past. During Spring Fashion Week, red was still seen in many looks on the runway, sneaking its way into the warmer seasons as well.

COLLEGE GAME DAYS ARE THE NEW SOUTHERN FASHION WEEK

College football games are becoming runways. Girls are spending more time and money on their outfits than ever. Planning out what they will wear months in advance has become the popular course of action. Girls are surfing the web looking for the perfect game-day attire.

The fall football season is incredibly important to the student bodies of southern football schools. Most notably schools from the SEC and Big 12 conferences have students that go all out for every game day. The University of Oklahoma is no different. Girls from OU spend hundreds of dollars to look their best on game days. Buying new outfits for every football season and always saving that extra special outfit for the Red River Rivalry.

“To me it's a huge part of my self-expression, I get to show off who I am in all of my outfits,” says Avery Bennett a University of Oklahoma senior.

SOUTHERN FASHION WEEK

Bennett is extremely fashion-forward, always looking her best and put together. She creates power points for outfits months in advance utilizing what she already owns and adding pieces to make her wardrobe look new.

“Especially now that we are older I feel like you don’t want your closet just to be a sea of red going into our lives after this, so I feel like I’ve tried to pick out pieces for these past two years that I could see myself wearing in the future,” says Bennett While social media makes it seem that veryone is always buying new outfits every year, that is not always the reality. Students here at OU LK Cox at Dayton Flesner game day outfits will often use items from previous years and add accessories like pins and stickers to make their outfits seem brand new.

“I wanted to make some (stickers) that were non-Greek so everyone can wear them,” says Mollie Kate McClendon a University of Oklahoma senior.

McClendon started an online business selling Game Day stickers to students at OU to fill a gap she saw in the world of game day fashion. Most buttons and stickers are run by Greek organizations and she created a space for those who aren’t a part of Greek life to dress up and enjoy the game.

Game day shopping affects the boutiques in the Norman area. These stores cater to the wants of college girls and offer a wide range of game-day attire.

SOUTHERN FASHION WEEK

“On a night game day, we can make upwards of 4,000 dollars,” says Alyssa McPhetridge a University of Oklahoma junior who works at the Clothing Bar. The desire to look the best on game days positively affects the Norman economy and helps support Norman locals.

One vital factor of OU game day culture is the importance of the OUTX game. The outfits worn for this game are considered to be the most important of the season. Girls will buy all new outfits just for this one game.

OU-Texas is like the biggest fashion show because you also have to impress the UT Fansecause they spend probably a lot more money on their game day outfits than we do,” says Lexi Conley, a University of Oklahoma senior. While OU students commit significant financial investment to their game day attire, it

still does not compare to the intensity of larger SEC schools. Girls who attend schools like UT, Ole Miss, LSU, and Alabama spend thousands of dollars a year on their game-day attire.

With OU joining the SEC next fall not only willl the stadium become more of a runway but the game day atmosphere itself will be intensified to match the culture of future rivals.

THE CANADIAN TUXEDO, and everything you need to know about it.

Denim on Denim. A bold yet casual fashion statement coming back to life, especially here in the South.

Not only are we seeing 70’s fashion trends recycle, but we are watching them become reconstructed in new ways. The Canadian Tuxedo, aka a full denim outfit, is a great example of a reconfigured trend from the past.

The classic Canadian-Tuxedo is considered to be a pair of blue jeans and a jean-jacket. However nowadays people are modernizing this classic look.

“This double-take of denim comes as no surprise given the recent rise of casual yet cool dressing where solid, everyday wardrobe essentials shine,” Vogue said, in an issue last-fall.

The once controversial outfit has recycled through the decades. Debuted in the 1950s by Bing Crosby, a famous American actor and singer, who was allegedly denied entrance from a Canadian hotel due to his full-denim outfit. The outfit was considered too casual, according to sources online (MonteCristo Magazine). After the controversy, Levi Strauss designed a full denim tuxedo, thus giving life to the name “Canadian Tuxedo.”

Soon after the media stunt pulled by Levi Strauss, the Canadian Tuxedo started appearing more often. The style of denim-on-denim started creeping its way into the fashion world, with a rise in popularity during the late 70s and early 80s.

During the 90s these blue jean ensembles couldn’t be further from stylish. But as trends recycle, the Canadian Tuxedo came back with a bang.

The classic denim jacket with a pair of blue jeans was a go-to outfit for many during that time. Back in the 70s the look of a full denim outfit defined a stylish yet laid back look.

However as time went on, these denim looks were quickly considered unfashionable.

The early 2000s were full of denim. Celebrities were wearing jeans under their skirts and dresses, and it didn’t take long before head to toe denim was considered stylish again. As more celebrities continued to wear these jean tuxedos, Y2K fashion incorporated denim in creative and new ways.

Sweeping the South by storm and are redefining the all-denim look. One popular redesign that has been popular this year is the denim jumpsuit. Jeans with a denim vest have also become a go-to look this year.

Here in the south, the Canadian Tuxedo has become a go-to gameday staple. During the last Red River Rivalry, these denim outfits were seen all over the Cotton Bowl. Typically styled with a pair of cowgirl boots or platform sneakers, the denim looks are easy to match.

Is the Canadian Tuxedo here to stay or will this trend fizzle out like it did in the past? I think finding new ways of styling denim have helped the fashion industry stay creative while keeping elements of classic looks. With the rise of matching sweat sets, and monochrome outfits I think Canadian Tuxedos might be here to stay, at least for a few more years.

The Fall Season The days get shorter as temperatures drop, and the holiday season is just around the corner. It's time to pack away all the short skirts and breezy sheer tops and instead embrace the warmth and coziness of the latest fall fashion trends. Bring out those chunky knit sweaters, jackets, and warm scarves. Turn up the heat, and turn on those comfy movies. Fall is here. Just because it's cold doesn't mean you can’t look your best. Fall trends are about highlighting your best features, keeping warm, and staying functional. Don’t compromise warmth for fashion. Wear those layers, put a pair of tights under that skirt, and bring out those boots. Here are the five latest trends to keep you warm and stylish.

My personal favorite trend. Whether it's a sweater or cotton blouse, off-theshoulder tops compliment everyone.

They highlight bone structure, lengthening the neckline. Want to appear taller; wear off-the-shoulder tops. Add them to a capsule wardrobe with neutral colors to match the season.

Black is my favorite, paired with denim; this casual look is classy, trendy, and warm.

TALL BOOTS Tall boots are back for another fall season. Tall and Riding boots are a closet staple that everyone should add to their closet. They can be as simple and timeless or as trendy as you want. Black is a great color, but you can't go wrong with a deep brown for the fall season. Boots are a great way to stay warm white and still look put together—no need to input your winter boots on just yet.

MAXI SKIRTS Great news to all of you who purchased a jean maxi skirt this season: this trend is here to stay for the next season. Don’t limit yourself to jean fabric; explore warmer fabrics and different designs. Invest in something you love. Stick to neutral colors for more wear from every item, but if you find the perfect holiday skirt, don’t hesitate.
