MY STORY

Once Upon A Time,

A girl lived in a seemingly ordinary world, with self-doubt and a scarcity of the knowledge that an untold and powerful destiny lie ahead of her. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Art and found a love for concept development. Still, she couldnt find the missing piece of her sleeping soul that would send her on the path towards her greatest happiness.

Then she became a Cast Member with the Walt Disney Company. This moment in time was what allowed her to witness absolute magic for the first time. She was transfigured into her truest and bravest self, and suddenly all of the impossible things she never believed in all started to seem more and more real.

From this point forward, she has worked tirelessly to find and make that magic for others, earning a second degree in Graphic Communications and Design, and setting her sights on becoming a concept designer for the Themed Entertainment Industry.

Disneyland has become the home of my heart and soul, so it makes sense that I would discover a fondness for any visual representation of the place I love most. Attractions posters that respresent the many offerings throughout the Parks have existed since Disneyland’s earlier years. I wanted to represent one of the opening-day attractions that has no representation, in order to pay respect to the original Mickey Mouse shorts that can be found within. My hope is to give these a permanent home either at Disneyland, or within the halls of Walt Disney Imagineering.

Continuing with my Parks Attraction Poster series, I wanted to include work that highlights one of the many newer attractions being created throughout the Disney Parks around the world, with the newest and most impressive ride technologies to enhance the guests’ overall experience.

I appreciate this attraction for its ability to envelop the guest in the story, allowing them to experience all five senses through the perspective of Remy himself.

I’ve been formulating this idea for a possible Disney Parks and Resorts expansion, in the form of a new land with a direct focus on the realm of imagination and thought, allowing for further representation of many characters and storylines from Disney’s intellectual properties. One of these would be the recent film, Pixar’s Soul©.

In the movie we find 22 as a soul who finally experiences her love for Pizza, during a trip to earth. This inspired me to design a logo to represent a dining location that will be featured in this new land expansion. The location will be themed throughout, in reference to 22 and her favorite food.

Another concept I’ve had for a location, in this new land of imagination, will be focused on a beloved purple dragon named Figment©, a famous character made popular from Walt Disney World’s Epcot. I’ve observed that this famous friend could use more representation throughout the rest of the Parks around the world, as has become well-known throughout all of Disney’s fandom.

I propose a marchandise location, themed after Figment© and his many curiosities, including items themed after other intellectual properties being referenced throughout this new land. Guests will have the chance to see inside his imagination in a whole new way than ever before.

My final concept for this new land of imagination aims to give further representation to another favorite, the imaginary friend, Bing Bong© from Pixar’s Inside Out©.

Anyone who knows the story is aware that Bing Bong© is famous for flying a rocket that runs on song power. This provides the perfect opportunity to develop a roller-coaster-type attraction, similar in style to Slinky Dog Dash©, found over at Walt Disney World. Guests can take a ride on Bing Bong©’s Rockets of Imagination, and be able to see inside a world of limitless possibilities.

At the beginning of my “creative awakening”, I remember being immensly inspired by the concepts and work done for Disney’s Fantasia© and Fantasia 2000©. I remember the relationship between the music and the artwork moving my soul in a way that I’d never experienced before.

I wish to become a part of the creative team for a new Fantasia that explores both new and old pieces of music. I enjoy the works of George Gershwin. His work inspired me to develop a visual concept for his piece “Summertime”, as it reminds me of the time I’ve lived in Southern California, and my love for all the beauty and creative potential it contains.

Having been a member of the Topps® Digital Trading Card community for a few years, I’ve seen my share of designs that have been produced for the app. I have yet to see any Disney Parks-specific characters, and none in this kind of sophisticated, art-nuveau style.

This sparked my idea for a new and never-before-seen set that I would eventually present as a possible trading pack for the app. My first character in the deck is Disney’s Figment©, a favorite of mine and many other Disney fans alike.

ILLUSTRATIVE DESIGN

Words have power. I can say from personal experience that the comfort and wisdom I’ve gleaned from many an inspirational quote have been the driving force that helped me to carry on past some of my darkest moments.

Therefore, I propose this as the first design of a wide series of artwork to represent the wisdom of powerful quotes, from a variety of sources. These words can guide many a lost soul through the hardest of times, and having a physical representation of this is often vital.

The words are presented in a silhouette-like manner, relating to the theme of the design, and allowing the abstract background to reflect the mood of the piece, as well as the source of the quote.

I’ve found a love for the earlier, live-action films the Walt Disney Company has produced, including Pollyanna©, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea©, and The Absent-minded Professor©. Many of these have the same heartfelt sentimentalism that can be found throughout the Disney Parks. This influenced me to draw connections between these nostalgic films and certain themed attractions in the Parks.

I wish to create a collaborative series of t-shirt designs to encourage the viewing of these films, thus promoting Disney+ and the Disney Parks.

T-SHIRT DESIGN

During my trips to the Disney Parks, I’ve spent time enjoying many of the sometimes lessappreciated entertainment offerings, such as the theatrical performances, daytime and nighttime parades and fireworks. While several of these have much more of a cult-following than is realized, it is not often one will see much merchandise to directly respresent these offerings.

I propose the beginning of a much needed change of pace. That is, more merchandise that pays homage to the many daytime and nighttime spectaculars that lend their magic to the guest experience that comes from Disney Parks.
