Oh Baby Kart is the first release from the imaginative game studio Oh Baby! Games. The kart racer has emerged as a competitor to more-established games like Mario Kart and Crash Team Racing. Though Oh Baby! Games has demonstrated their interest in Web3, this game currently doesn't have any assets on-chain. We're following the studio closely to see how they grow in this area.
Founded in 2021, Oh Baby! Games creates fun social games with real-world utility that empower players to contribute to and own their experiences.
Meet the Oh Baby! Team
Founded by Pasteur (Pas) Tran, Oh Baby! Games has an impressive team at the helm.
You may know Pas from his endearingly unhinged community interactions or his past role as the Founder/CEO of Mana Wings, creator of the hit game Crazy Fishing VR. In addition to being the Founder and CEO of Oh Baby! Games, Pas is the Lead Designer.
Pas is joined by CTO/Lead Developer Athos Kelesidis, founder of the game development tutorial platform, Sharp Accent.
` COO Jorge (Landir) Ageitos rounds out the team. His previous creative experience at Addicting Games and Forgotten Empires (the studio behind all of the Age of Empires games!) was undoubtedly a
In early 2023, Oh Baby! Games raised $6 million during an initial seed round led by Synergis Capital and eGirl Capital.
GET BEHIND THE WHEEL!
Oh Baby Kart is a breath of fresh air for thirsty Web3 gamers. The racer came out of the gate looking polished with few bugs. It is a robust game with many features, including an adventure mode, several online game modes, and a fully functional in-game marketplace. There are a wide range of characters, karts and cosmetics to choose from, with personalities and skins that appeal to both casual users and degens.
Oh Baby Kart partnered with Paramount Global and Nickelodeon in late 2023 to offer iconic characters from SpongeBob SquarePants as playable racers and a special Bikini Bottom map. A limited-edition Invader Zim bundle was released in Spring 2024. These collaborations open the door for more branding opportunities within the game.
SCALY SENTIMENT INDEX (SSI)
Our reptilian review of this Web3 racer!
Oh Baby Kart features fun gameplay and a full list of features. Their team has shown they can secure funding and deliver a high-quality product. However, we're looking for more Web3 integration to take this game to the next level.

RACE TO EARN BATTLE POINTS
Oh Baby Kart players can buy or sell various items using an in-game currency called Battle Points (BP). We can imagine this currency going on-chain in the future and the game-related assets becoming NFTs. However, there's currently no way to purchase on-chain assets for the game. Users earn BP by playing and then spend the currency in the in-game marketplace. Many people are speculating about play-to-airdrop, whether this takes the form of early access through whitelists, receiving in-game assets, or earning BP tokens.
OPEN BETA: MARKETPLACE OBSERVATIONS
Oh Baby Kart Marketplace transaction fees are 5%, and totaled 700K BP as of May 2nd.
The Distribution Rate of Battle Points (BP) was 6% lower than the Spending Rate. This reveals that users are happy to spend their BP, the game economy is under control, and there is some scarcity in the in-game market.
As of May 31st, the global supply of items dropped 18% due to crafting, which allows players to burn 5 items in exchange for 1 new, hopefully rarer, item. This shows that the developers are controlling the supply of items in a way that preserves the value of even the most basic assets. Players will keep buying cheap assets to burn them in crafting.

We monitored the prices and supply of the most sought after assets to get an idea of how this market behaves. The supply has only decreased slightly, indicating speculation that price will continue rising.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR OH BABY! GAMES?
Shogun Curse, a roguelike card battler, just wrapped up alpha testing and is now available in Early Access. There aren’t many competitors in this unique genre, but Slay the Spire is a close comparison. Early Access players of Shogun’s Curse can work their way through five acts that represent the entire game.
They’ve also hinted at Oh Baby! Party. You guessed it! They’re taking on the whole Super Mario IP! In fact, founder Pas Tran has mentioned the possibility of “cross game collectibles,” which means users would be able to play characters across the Oh Baby! world.
