Born and raised in Bogota, 2018 to pursue a career in Vancouver, now LaSalle College. the creativity and passion that

Colombia, I moved to Vancouver in Interior design at The Art Institute of It was my opportunity to put into action all has been with me since I can remember.

My interest in interior spaces started unconsciously at a very young age.

I did not realize it then, but now I understand that I was and still am amazed by the power and influence interior spaces have in people’s life.

Coming to Vancouver has helped me to expand my vision of interior design. Being able to evoke certain feelings through the right choice of colors, materials, textures, and layouts is still fascinating to me, and is my pleasure to help others experience it.

INSTITUTIONAL

01 LINGUATHEQUE NEW FOUNDLAND LANGUAGE & CULTURAL CENTER

Newfoundland and Labrador is the easternmost province of Canada. It has been a linguistically heterogeneous province that has welcomed people a n d l a n g u ages from cu l tu res of different places over time. Because of that, Newfoundland’s heritage is unique as it possesses English, Irish, German, Fre n c h , a n d In digen ou s h erita ge.

However, today all except French and Scots Gaelic have disappeared completely.

The proposed intervention respects history, reflects on the present and aims for the future. Inspiration was taken from the existing architectural style of the city which makes it feel and look like a part of it.

A census made in 2016 showed that by that time, 97% of residents of this province reported English as their mother tongue, making Newfoundland Canada’s most linguistically homogeneous province.

One of the things that makes Newfoundland so iconic is its nature; rich, endless and imponent. No wonder why that is the main source of inspiration for the concepts, materials, and overall design of this project since it not only celebrates Newfoundland’s beauty but tries to contribute to it.

To conserve this hub of Languages, a Cultural and Language Centre is proposed.

It will preserve and propagate the varied languages that existed historically and are now extinct or on the verge of getting extinct.

For the center to become an important place for tourists, the design takes advantage of the beautiful location trying to capture magnificent views of St John’s and its harbor.

Being this area the first interaction with the inside installations and the overall experience. This design wants to surround visitors with Newfoundland´s essence from the very beginning.

To witness the essence of the province, and inspired by its natural beauty and history. This design will showcase two of their most known features; their rocks and their fishing practices.

The above, aiming to generate a sense of community since the very first impression by welcoming local people as well as tourists.

THE LOFT YALETOWN BOUTIQUE HOTEL

Vancouver is a constantly growing major city in western Canada, located in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia. With its breathtaking natural attractions, business, active nightlife, and cultural activities, Vancouver is on the list of places to go for many travelers, whereby, it lodges many different types of tourists.

After a site and cultural study, a boutique hotel is to be designed.

Located on the edge of Yaletown, a historical commercial and industrial neighborhood in downtown Vancouver.

Yaletown was zoned in 1920 for commercial and light industrial use. It was until the late 1970s and 1980s when young urban professionals discovered that Yaletown’s o l d wa re h o u s e s we re co nve n i e n t , inexpensive, and attractive transforming and adapting Yaletown into a trendy social, and livable area.

Most of the hotels in the area are big chain hotels leaned into a more high-end luxury lifestyle. The Loft boutique hotel is designed and planned to attract and serve a specific group of visitors which necessities are not currently fulfilled by the hotels in the area.

The Loft is a trendy and reinvented option for young adventurers and on-the-move travelers. Potential guests are mostly looking for a casual trip without losing the commodities and facilities a business or family hotel may offer. The hotel would be ideal for people on a weekend getaway as well as for people traveling around BC. The design goal of this project is to make the hotel experience one more reason for young travelers to come into the city.

To accomplish that, the hotel offers a wide range of activities, from an international cuisine restaurant with live music to a private karaoke and game room.

This 1910 building location is very strategic. Is right in the heart of downtown Vancouver, and just a couple of blocks away from Yaletown, spot of offices, restaurants, trendy night places, and loft-style residential developments making this zone of the city perfect to live, work, and do business.

Besides that, the building is a few blocks away from Granville St, well known for having restaurants, coffee shops, retail stores, Shopping centers, offices, schools, theaters, clubs.

Roger Arena, BC Place, and the library are also less than a block away. Public transportation is available, many bus stops are around the area as well as Skytrain and Canada Line stations, making this building very accessible.

BRON ANIMATIONS BURNABY OFFICES

BRON Animations is an animation company focused on high-quality-length animated films with headquarters in Burnaby, British Columbia. Their work environment is casual and emphasizes teamwork. They define their team as skilled individuals in all aspects of animation from design, modeling, rigging, and lighting to visual effects.

The company really values and cares for their crew, they provide different types of social events since those keep the crew excited and active, helping them to develop different skills behaving under the motto of “work hard and play just as hard!”. As part of the BRON culture is very important to celebrate their team and thank them for their contributions and dedication so they do monthly activities to thank the crew.

The goal of this project is to design a headquarter office that expresses and communicate BRON values and lifestyle through colors, materials, finishes, and design while providing an efficient and adaptable plan that fulfills BRON’s space necessities.

The approach for this project is inspired by a futuristic concept, having as key points motion and movement.

The goal is to make the crew feel as if they were inside an animation itself, enhancing creativity and ideas.

BRON is not a usual type of office, whereby, the new facilities are not meant to be common either.

LADURÉE PASTRY HOUSE KITSILANO

Laduree is a unique luxury pastry house founded in Paris that first opened as a bakery in 1862. A fire in 1871 created the possibility to reinvent themselves, so they opened again as a pastry shop/tea toom.

The brand carries lots of social and cultural history with them since they are pioneers in their field.

The decoration of their first renovated pastry house was assigned to the famous turn-of-the-century painter and poster artist, Jules Cheret. Inspired by the painting techniques used on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and the Garnier Opera House, Jules Cheret added depth and relief to the ceilings, which notably influenced the brand’s “angelic” graphic identity.

This new store is located in Kitsilano, a very trendy neighborhood located on the West Side of Vancouver, along the southern shore of English Bay. Kitsilano attracts people of a wide rank of ages, from families, teenagers, and young adults to adults.

The goal of this project is to create a welcoming layout that allows clients and employees to enjoy the space. The above, by providing them with the necessary rooms and facilities to accomplish an efficient use of space.

This new location aims to bring a little bit of Paris to Vancouver by celebrating Laduree’s legacy and history. The interior design of the store is warm, delicate, and luxurious, serving, like the original store, as a safe place to gather and enjoy their varied list of macarons, cakes and pastries, tea, chocolates, and confectionery

RESIDENTIAL HOUSE

For this project, a house that fulfills the necessities of a young and artistic family has to be designed.

The family consist of a couple of designers, an architect, and a painter, and their 3 children. The older son is 16 years old and he is driven into music and sports. He is currently taking singing lessons and plays the drums. On the other hand, his 12-year-old twin sisters enjoy making art together and share similar interests like painting and writing.

Both parents work from home. The mother needs a studio inside the house where she can work on her projects and store all her materials, while her husband needs the basement to be the architecture office for his six employees and himself.

The purpose of this design is to create a comfortable and welcoming living space that showcases the family’s taste.

As mentioned before, considering the amount of time the family spends inside the house, comfort is key. All the materials ad furniture pieces fulfill the family’s needs in matters of space, style, and efficiency.

Located in the suburbs of Madrid, Spain, this new residence is the perfect mix between modern and cozy.

Designed for a family that works from home, an architect, and a painter, this layout takes advantage of the space turning it into a functional family home that provides areas for the family to share and enjoy, as well as private spaces for the parents to work in.

COZY CALM WARM FAMILIAR PEACEFUL WELCOMING COMFORTABLE

An accessible open plan was designed for the shared zones on the main level, this space extends from the kitchen to the living room with the dining table connecting them. Transmitting in that way harmony and unification allowing the family to freely interact and coexist.

MASTER BEDROOM SHELVES ELEVATION

The purpose behing this design was to create a comfortable, welcoming, and efficient living space that showcases the family’s taste through the finishes and materials. Comfort was a must for this project considering the amount of time the family will spend inside the house.

Master bathroom’s Deck View A spa at home was the main inspiration for the master bathroom.

A glass covered bathtub with rain shower system is installed in front of the window.

Two sinks were given for higher comfort as well as two big closets with sliding doors.

In addition shelves and a shoes closet was provided CLOSET AND SINK ELEVATION
