The Global Reef Expedition Final Report: French Polynesia is the result of extensive scientific surveys undertaken to assess the health and resilience of the coral reefs in the Overseas Lands of French Polynesia. The surveys were conducted by the Khaled bin Sultan Living Ocean Foundation and local partners during a seven-month period from September 2012 through April 2013.
This scientific report contains assessments of the health of coral reefs, surveys of the coral and fish communities, and detailed maps of shallow-water marine habitats in four of the five major archipelagoes of French Polynesia: Society, Tuamotu, Gambier, and Austral Archipelagoes. The research summarized in this report is part of the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation's Global Reef Expedition, a large-scale scientific research mission that circumnavigated the globe studying some of the most remote and least studied coral reefs on Earth.
