THAN K YOU TO POP L AR MEAD OWS AN G US Canadian Junior Angus Association Donation Heifer Thank you to Poplar Meadows Angus – Tanya, Monty & Taylor Belsham of Houston, BC for their generous donation of “PM Elsiemere 18’14”. The proceeds from the heifer will go directly to the Canadian Junior Angus scholarship program, from which $4,500 in scholarships is awarded annually to members of the CJAA. Again this year, the heifer will be sold by a Dutch auction, just before the Masterpiece Sale commences. Dutch Auction procedure: •

• • •

The final bid in each round will denote the amount of that bidder’s donation. Ex: Round 1 – Final Bid is $300 to John Doe. John’s donation is $300. Round 2 – Final Bid is $250 to Tom Jones. Tom’s donation is $250. Round 3 – the heifer is re-auctioned on a downward scale until no further bids are received. Each $10 purchased (donated) represents one chance in the draw. Ex: John Doe has 30 chances, Tom Jones has 25 chances and so on down the scale. One ticket for every $10, bearing the contributors name, will be entered in the draw. At the end of the sale, one ticket will be drawn with that person winning PM Elsiemere 18/14.

POPLAR MEADOWS on

elsiemere an d gi v i ng b a ck After attending the CAA convention this past summer in Moosejaw and having the opportunity to witness our Canadian Angus juniors in action, I was compelled to do my part in helping fund this great organization. We have an amazing group of young people and I believe our breed is in very good hands. This heifer is sired by our outcross, power bull, BVC Jack Daniels. She ranked 9/53 in her contemporary group. Elisiemere 18/14 is out of a perfect-footed and uddered HF Tiger daughter. This heifer will be a great breeding tool. Now it’s your turn to do your part; help our juniors as they are our future.

WELC OME FROM CASTL EROCK The 41st Masterpiece Sale is here and at Castlerock we are more than excited to be managing this prestigious sale for the first time! This 2014 edition carries a lot of first-time situations: for the first time since 2002, the commercial cattle market is on fire, and for the first time producers are seeing their calf averages at $1,400-$1,600. These are exciting times! In the sale offering there are many first-time and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. Make sure you attend this awesome Angus event. We have a great cross section of breeders who are consigning to the sale; some have taken part many times and for others it’s their first kick at the cat here at Canadian Western Agribition! Think back to your first time consigning or even attending an event of this calibre and the excitement that made you tingle. Nobody will forget that and nor should they! With the direction the cattle market is heading we are all in unchartered waters bringing smiles, profit and enthusiasm for the industry. You can’t help but be excited. We have thoroughly enjoyed touring the herds this summer and digging deep with the top end out of every program. Take hold and check out the consignments - we are proud of them all for their efforts putting their best foot forward. If you have any questions, consider this your invitation to contact any of the consignors, sales staff or any of us at Castlerock Marketing to visit about the offering. We would be happy to help make your next purchase be the right purchase!

Merit Socialite 3159 “Casey” is from the absolute top of our program. She has that soft maternal look, tremendous length and depth of body and super sound structure. The Socialite cow family sets the benchmark for excellence at Merit. Their progeny always rise to the top. Please check out our entire Agribition string as they are ALL Socialites. Her sire Iron Will was purchased from Bar E-L for $31,000, his first set of sons to sell at Merit averaged $6,500 with Merit Big Dawg being the high seller at $30,000 for 2/3 interest to Double F Cattle Co and Lock Farms. Iron Will has rocketed to the top 1% of the breed for WW, YW and scrotal. Her dam’s sire, GDAR Insight, has left his mark in our herd, siring sound structured high performing progeny. His daughters are capacious with beautiful udders and his sons are highly fertile. Insight himself is in the top 1% of the breed for WW, milk and scrotal. Casey’s mating to R B Tour of Duty is exciting, his numbers are off the charts! We truly believe in this female’s productive future and feel she has what it takes to be a cornerstone cow in anyone’s herd. AI’d RB Tour of Duty 177 April 30. Preg check safe June 23, due February 6th, no exposure. Merit retains the right to a successful flush at new owner’s convenience and Merit’s expense.

Betsey 31A is a complete package that combines size, shape, and femininity. Her sire First Line Kodiak 8X has been leaving a very prominent stamp in our herd with offspring just like Betsey. His daughters came into production this past calving season and they are of the best udders in our herd. 31A’s dam is a big, stout daughter of SAV Heritage, and these Heritage daughters are weaning off the heaviest calves. After Shane Castle toured our herd and selected Betsey, we thought we best start getting her ready for the fall fairs, and she has come along nicely as a show heifer, bringing home some ribbons. Bred to SAV Pioneer 7301, due to calve Feb 15/15, and we feel this mating is going to be a good one!

Well-known genetics with a different twist. EnView Blackbird 34A is a deep, easy fleshing young lady, with great neck extension and tons of potential. She is out of a EnView Camouflauge/ Belvin Rebel combination which is pretty neat. However, the dam of Camouflauge is the kicker in the deal – picture-perfect Angus female. Exposed to Remitall Victory 109Z (Remitall Odyssey son). Preg checked to calve in February 2015.

LOT 5, service sire Musgrave Aviator We are pleased to offer this exciting young heifer from the top of our bred heifer pen. She is a low birth weight daughter of the Genex roster sire, TC Aberdeen. Her dam is a stellar HF Tiger daughter. This heifer has great eye appeal in a fault-free package. Her EPDs put her in the top percentiles in the breed. One of her greatest features is the coupon she is carrying; the Aviator calves have exceeded my expectations and I’m excited to show them off this fall. They are born small and have explosive growth. Stop by our stall and see for yourself. AI’d April 27 to Musgrave Aviator. Favorable to AI. Exposed May 5-June 10 to Musgrave Stimulus 1052.

LOT 7, sire Red Six Mile Ripped 206X There is a load of capacity and rib in this broody female. The Belle cow family is known on our place for their easy calving, low maintenance, and consistency. Her dam is one of those hard working, nevermiss cows who in her first three years of production has weaned off three outstanding heifer calves for us. In 2011, her granddam, Belle 458R, sold to Glengary Ranch for $11,000 as a mature cow and is now back working in the Six Mile herd. The first crop of Ripped 206X daughters were calved out this past spring and they are proving to be rock-solid producing cows with tidy udders and good foot and leg structure. She is carrying the service to our exciting young herd bull Game Zone 9Z, who is a Game Plan x Sakic-bred bull that came to us as an in-dam purchase. We have an identically bred heifer calf to this service off of Belle 11A’s full sister in our heifer calf pen who is looking quite promising. Exposed May 4- July 19 to Red Triple Play Game Zone 9Z.

LOT 8 401B has been on the radar all year long as she was always a standout with her flair, style and presence. But then again her dam is a Willie daughter we think a lot of, as he has really left us an excellent set of females, while his sons have been customer favorites for their power and performance. We purchased the granddam to 401B out of the Spaerman dispersal and are left thinking after we got them into production, why didn’t we buy more. They work hard and do their job year in and year out. We were a tour stop on the Southwest Sask Angus tour, and this sweet heifer calf would have been easily the people’s choice. Stop by the stall for a look – she will not disappoint.

A tremendous heifer calf that is going to be a powerhouse producer! The Miss Deal cow family has continually produced top calves and this heifer is no exception. She is feminine, soft made and stands on a perfect, black foot. Her sire Red DMM Glesbar Barndance 35X has done a great job in our A.I. program, throwing strong quality, consistent calves. Shane twisted some arms to get her, as she belongs to our kids Ava and Cade, and they have since done most of the footwork getting her ready. LOT 11 Here is a female from our proven Serebl cow family. This Serebl cow family has an excellent track record and they can really produce! Granddam Serebl 95N is the cornerstone of the cow family – we sold a very successful flush on 95N to Valnes Ranch Red Angus of South Dakota in this sale last year. Dam Serebl 760T made the CAA Premier Dam list after five grand calves in a row. We have retained Serebl 57W and Serebl 57X, the only two maternal sisters to 91B and they both put one at the top of the pen every year. Maternal brother Senator 79Y is a herdsire for the real good herd at Thompson’s. I would certainly like to keep Serebl 91B in the herd, especially since she is a Ghost Rider, but the kind to keep are also the kind to sell. The homework is all done here – buy with confidence!

He has left us a terrific set of calves, but unfortunately we lost him unexpectedly, way to soon. This heifer is deep bodied, wide topped, good quartered and strides out well. Her mother is a deep bodied, easy fleshing, good uddered cow that you want a herd of. 69B’s granddam and great granddam are still producing calves in the top of our herd and have both sold bulls to purebred producers so this heifer calf will surely not disappoint.

We are extremely excited about this great young female. A daughter of the great EnView Camouflage 11Y, who is a son of none other than HF Tiger 5T. Her dam, the great Barbara female we purchased last fall from the Davidsons, is a female that we see having a tremendous future in here in our herd. We feel this is an excellent opportunity to own a great show heifer prospect that is going to, in turn, become a producing machine. 441B speaks for herself – long bodied, big bellied, tremendously sound – a female that phenotypically is what we are striving to breed for with pedigree to match. HOLLINGER LAND & CATTLE

LOT 15, dam Northern View Princess 99Z Northern View Princess 82B is a heifer that is hard to match in terms of depth, length and a calving ease/power-packed pedigree. She is an even-tempered type of heifer. This is a unique and fresh pedigree for most folks; she comes from a gorgeous young Princess/Thunder cow in our herd. The Thunder deal is relatively new to our program. I will tell you that these Thunder daughters are proving to be structurally sound, excellent uddered, super tempered and highly productive. Each time a producer tours our herd, they inevitably select one or two Thunder females as their favorite cows at Northern View. We all want to make purchases that are going to benefit our herds and produce. It is our belief that Princess 82B is not just another cow – she has the fresh and exciting pedigree, backed by a strong cow family. It will be a rare find to secure a heifer as deep, powerful and feminine during the fall female sales.

HARVEST ANGUS The year was ‘09 when we attended this very Masterpiece sale and fell in love with a BC Raven 7022 heifer calf who was out of a powerful Rolling Rock cow originating from Express Ranches. She went on to be one of the high selling females. As a heifer, we campaigned her with great success and were very pleased with the fun we had showing her. When she became a cow, she turned into a greater asset. We bred her to our senior service sire, a Tiger son out of Prime Time Eileen 29 99 who was the CWA Supreme Champion Female in ‘04.That mating resulted in a female who is as sound of a cow as all the rest that came before, and who is the 2 year-old dam of the calf you see. Envious 2B calf is big boned, deep ribbed, walks on a great set of feet and legs, and has style to burn if you want a show heifer or a breeding piece that has the potential of moving your program to the next level. Sired by one of the hottest bulls today, VIN Mar O’Rielly Factor, you’re going to want to look this heifer up on sale day. A great man once said when they come from nothing they breed nothing. We believe this heifer has it all.

LOT 17, dam HF Miss Blackcap 27R Wow! Here is a fault free, favorite heifer throughout the summer that is the result of a never-miss cow family and a new, elite herd sire with predictability in his pedigree. Miss Blackcap 27R is a proven cow family that has been and continues to impress us with her ability to pump out the top-end type of progeny. To name a few, HF Swagger 75W, who was sold at the Masterpiece Sale 2009 for $37,500 to Steve Harvey, three Consensus sons selling to Trudy Schweb, U-2 Angus, and Brian Kriz, and three Tiger sons to Blair Barkley, Rossow Angus, SD, and Blair Macnab. And now we have the “Lute” progeny! Pleasant Valley Lute 1207 was purchased from the Stablers in Maryland through the NWSS Bull Sale 2013 with Wilbar Angus for $23,000. Lute’s full sister and dam have both had the honor of being crowned Grand Champion Female at Denver in 2014 and 2010 respectively, a feat second to none! If you have a passion for a fresh female with great hair that has not been over managed, with a great disposition and loads of opportunity, don’t sit back and say, “I should have!”

Here is a name that has “Echoed” through the show and sale barns for years. A very popular pedigree featuring Tiger 5T’s full sister on the bottom and WK Smooth, the high-selling bull out of Krebs Angus Ranch 2013 Sale. This is the first progeny to sell from this Hamilton Farms / J & S Cattle new herd sire with a total outcross pedigree. The Smooth bull and his calves are exactly that… very nicely blended together in a well balanced, “Smooth” package. Echo 212B is stout, deep bodied with a brood cow potential appearance about her, once her heifer calf career comes to an end. The Echo cows in the pedigree have udders that dairymen would die for – level and unbelievable teat placement. The sweet disposition in this heifer combined with short gestation makes this female an excellent opportunity for a young Angus enthusiast to jump on for a 4-H or junior project.

This is our first calf crop by the Lookout Zorro 80Z bull we purchased at side of his dam when he was just a calf. He has more than impressed us with himself and his progeny. His calves have come lighter at birth than we expected, but really pour it on with big performance. Selling a heifer of this quality comes easy, we know she will work – her pedigree has proven it again and again. LOT 20, sire Cudlobe Jackson 34Z We are proud to be selling the first heifer calf off our new herdsire, Cudlobe Jackson. We spotted him along side his dam and in the summer of 2012, and couldn’t be more impressed with our Jackson calves as they are much like him – stout and easy doing with a great disposition. Plug in the Forever Lady cow family and their accolades in our program, which have been incredible. Countless progeny coming from the Forever Lady tribe have proven its worth over time, not only in our herd, but in many others as well. Eastondale Breakaway, the Reserve Champion bull at the 2009 World Angus Forum, and his famous set of full brothers would be just the tip of the iceberg.

Being one of the first Musgrave Foundation calves to sell this year, here is a great opportunity to get a head start as they are impressive wherever you find one. Better yet, 9B comes from a productive cow family that sport great udders, performance and longevity to keep your return coming for years to come. Needing a junior prospect with a great disposition? Here’s your chance, she will be competitive in the show ring while growing into being a top cow.

This heifer is very thick. The cow family is one of John’s favorites, tracing back to the 1988 Angus Show Female of the Year, and also raised Black Ridge Widespread 2K that Isla Bank owned and used with success. Resolute 37W has now proven that he sires very good females that are moderate in frame with good udders and ample milk. Wideworld has worked well here and has had top quality bulls and heifers over the past couple years. They are correct, thick, have lots of grow and hair.

LOT 25 We at Swan Hills Ranch are very excited to be a part of the 2014 Masterpiece Sale. Here’s an open heifer that we really like, and her dam is one of our “front pasture females” who always caught the eyes of guests who visit our ranch. Her dam SMX Blackcap 101W goes back to a foundation female WILP/HAR BLACKCAP 075L, acquired from Semex for their donor program. A pedigree with lots of depth that needs no introduction. SAV REVERE 1180 has left his mark at our ranch as well, with a group of exceptional ET calves this year. The female calves are stylish with great eye appeal, and the bull calves exhibit natural thickness and great muscle expression. Look for their progeny down the road, as we have been welcomed to be part of the Blue Collar Bull Sale in Yorkton, Sask., on the second Saturday in April – a great group of consignors we are excited to work with into the future! The cattle future has never been brighter, here’s a great addition and heifer to add to your herd, she awaits your inspection!

Consigned By First Line Unanimous 13B is from one of the original Countess cow family that we originally purchased from Art Skaley’s Bevalen herd, tracing back to Double A Willie Boy 2S, four generations back. This family accounts for more progeny in our herd than any other family, with longevity being one of their strongest suites. 13B would be described like his father – big footed, good depth of heel, a powerful stifle, and packed with muscle expression. If you like numbers, these Unanimous calves have some of the biggest spreads for weaning and yearling weight and 13B is in the top 1% for both. His dam is a 3-yearold Salt Creek Bob daughter that has been working hard to produce two of our best bull calves over the last two years. She is a near-flawless phenotype cow with a real nice, tight, well structured udder and teats that will keep her around for a number of years. Unanimous 13B is a well disposition bull that we are showing at fall fairs with good success. Bottom line is that this bull will add pounds to your calf crop.

P IC K OF TH REE BUL L CALVES When we purchased a package of Connealy Consensus sired embryos from Hamilton Farms, our goal was to get a bull to use in our program. To our amazement, we got four bulls out of four embryos. Here is your opportunity to share in our windfall from the heart of the Hamilton Farms program and pick one for your herd before we decide on one for ours. In our opinion, each of these bulls is well worth a look; they each offer something a little different. Connealy Consensus 7229 has become a popular sire in the Angus industry as he combines calving ease with performance, and the thickness we like to see in calves. He also imparts a docility that makes these bulls a pleasure to work with.

Isla Bank Momentum 4121 is off of the fantastic HF Miss Blackcap 27R cow. He is a maternal brother to HF Swagger who had a very successful show career and sold in the 2009 Masterpiece sale for $37,500 for 2/3 interest. Momentum 4121 is also a full flush brother to HF Syndicate 213Z who was part of Hamilton’s Denver pen and sold in their 2013 sale for $15,000 for ½ interest and 1/2 possession. His flush brother sold through the Power and Perfection sale last year at Agribition to South View Ranch for a $21,000 valuation, unfortunately he was lost due to injury. He was admired at Agribition for his shape and style and 4121 is no different.

Rush Lake 71’12 caught the attention of everyone at Agribition in 2012, along side his beautiful 2-year-old dam. When he became available for sale, we knew that this was a bull we needed to own, and $73,000 later he called Pincher Creek home. At Stauffer Ranches, our Bull Sale has earned its success through marketing 2-year-old bulls to predominantly commercial operations throughout Western Canada. We strive to breed cattle with performance and doability from seedstock mirroring the same challenges our commercial customers endure. Rush Lake continues to clear the hurdles that any good breeding bull must do. We have an excellent set of calves that hit the ground this spring; his bull calves are deep, stout and thick with exceptional style, while his heifer calves are like peas in a pod. With 107 calves recorded with the CAA, his bull calves have average birth weights of 85lbs and heifers calves 81lbs. These signs of a true breeding bull are all pointing towards the kind of cattle we need to raise to not only make our living, but also provide benefits for customers as well. Rush Lake continues to impress all who see him. Here’s your opportunity to add these exciting genetics to your program.

TERMS: Pick to be made any time before April 1, 2015. Stauffer Ranches reserves the right to retain 150 straws of in-herd-use-only semen off any bull calf selected. If a bull calf is selected, Stauffer Ranches will guarantee him to pass semen test by May 1, 2015. If a bull calf is selected, terms are ½ down sale day, and the other ½ upon delivery.

RED SIX MILE & CO JAGGER 780A Jagger is a bull that gets more impressive every day. Jagger was Reserve Champion Junior bull calf last year at both Denver and Agribiton and he is coming out in full force again this fall. His prolific dam Cheta 702W was the high-selling cow at Red Roundup 2012 when a half interest sold for $21,000 to Wright’s Livestock and Triple L Angus. This cow family is filled with “Elite Dams” and incredible productivity. Jagger is sired by the “go to” calving ease bull at Six Mile, Game Plan, making him a paternal brother to such bulls as the $65,000 half interest, Game Face. No semen has ever been released on this outstanding young sire, making this offering incredibly valuable. This is a rare opportunity to secure his service for 2015, as only 100 units of Canadian or U.S. semen will be released from now until the end of 2015.

MIA OF PEAK DOT 40Y, sire of embryos Bush’s Easy Decision 98 Mia of Peak Dot 40Y was our daughter Ami’s 4-H heifer, but has evolved into much more than that. We value 40Y for many reasons but one of her greatest attributes is her amazing fertility. We have exhibited Mia 40Y at Agribition a couple of times, as well flushed her twice, and she bred back to maintain her calving interval almost to the day. She raises thick, heavy calves while catching to AI every time, leaving us with a 65lbs. Harvestor heifer calf that we are retaining. These embryos represent a power house Denver Champion in Bushs Easy Decision 98 with this powerful, thick made, fertile donor cow who will keep you in the business and profitable.

RED BRYLOR JKC GHOST RIDER 108Y This Ghost Rider bull has left his mark here with very consistent progeny, both male and female. The feed efficiency that he and his progeny exhibit is extraordinary! He has an exceptional foot under him with incredible muscle shape and expression. Ghost Rider was on display in our yards pen last year at Agribition weighing 2560lbs. as a 2-year-old. You will find daughters for your appraisal in our yards pen this year. His dam 22L sold into the US for $10,000 in 2008 to JK and Fair Acres, then again at 11 years of age for $17,000 USD to Garth Griffin for his flush program. Full sib sisters to Ghost Rider have made their mark with both banners and production: Mercedes (Reserve Grand Champion Female in Denver 2010) and Cherok 19U (banners at Farmfair, Agribition, World Angus Forum) produced the $47,500 Red Brylor/WRAZ Mak’n Waves 39X, the 2012 Denver Reserve Junior Champion Bull. This will be the first package of exclusive limited semen offered on Ghost Rider 108Y in Canada. (WRAZ guarantees there will be a limit of 80 straws selling in Canada this year). On offer is two packages of 10 straws each.

95N is the cornerstone of our Serebl cow family. She is a proven producer with ten progeny registered – two are full sibs to these Ghostrider embryos. 95N is in the top 1% of the breed in Canada for CE, STAY, HPG; keeping these female factories bred and producing on their own in the herd is economically more efficient than the traits the industry is focusing on at times. All of the 95N daughters are retained at home or producing in other purebred herds in Canada. WRAZ 146A, a full sib female to these Ghostrider embryos, sold in this sale last year for $4,500 as a heifer calf and she looks great – she is one powerful bred heifer! We are pleased to offer the opportunity to share in the top end genetics of this Serebl cow family. Offering three #1 export quality embryos with a guarantee of one pregnancy if implanted by a certified ET technician.

RED RUNNING BAR PREVIEW 1P, sire of embryos RED MRLA NEW ERA 87Y Red Running Bar Preview 1P is a terrific female. Since she landed at the pastures of Lauron, she has surpassed all expectations. Preview has excellent feet and udder structure for a 10-yearold mother cow. This girl has striking phenotype, strong maternal lineage and she keeps her shape while passing it down to her progeny without hesitation. We have reserved her one son, Red Lauron Scenic Route 8Y, back for head duties in the heifer pen and is a phenom for calving ease. The sire of the package, New Era 87Y, is the 2013 U.S. National Reserve Grand Champion Bull. He sure is building himself a legacy after his premature departure. Being a uniquely bred grandson of the proven SAV Net Worth 4200, he is siring some impressive progeny in the Six Mile show string. The guesswork has been taken out of the equation; this mating is oneof-a-kind from two very outstanding parents that offer the best in Red Angus genetics today.

KENRAY RED ANGUS

We are excited to be displaying our breeding program within The Yards at 2014 Canadian Western Agribition. During the week of November 24-29, we will proudly display five of the heifer calves from our 2014 Online Production Sale that will run December 1-3, 2014. During the 2014 Masterpiece we will be offering the opportunity to secure your choice of our Yards display heifers. In our 2014 Yards pen, we will be showcasing some of the first progeny of Red Mar Mac Indicator 30Z, who was the $12,000 high selling bull at the 2013 Mar Mac Farms bull sale. Indicator 30Z is consistently stamping his calves with added bone, extra lower quarter, and eye appeal. An ET brother to Indicator 30Z was awarded Jr Champion Red Angus Bull at CWA 2013. A powerful daughter of Red Kenray X-Over 3Z, who is a son of the widely popular Red Six Mile Sakic 832S, will be included in our pen. A daughter of X-Over 3Z was the high selling bred heifer to Wilbar Farms in our 2013 Online Production Sale. We will also be showcasing two daughters of Red McRae’s Vision 50T. The Vision 50T daughters have had success in both the show ring and in the pastures of many industry leading breeding operations. Complete pedigree and performance information for this opportunity is available at www.kenrayranch.com or by stopping by our Yards display prior to the sale. Selection must be made by November 29, 2014.

RED SIX MILE KILL SWITCH 135Z Kill Switch offers exceptional phenotype with an outcross pedigree. He is the $21,000 son of Benchmark Better Beef, U.S. National Champion Bull at Denver 2012. Kill Switch excels in docility and is big hipped, standing on a solid set of feet and legs. Kill Switch’s dam is a moderate easy fleshing, well uddered female. She is a maternal sister to Red Six Mile Timberline 880W. His dam also produced a $10,000 heifer calf in the recent Six Mile Focused On Females Sale. We showed Kill Switch this summer at Prince Albert Exhibition where he was named Supreme Champion bull, making him qualified for the Royal Bank Supreme Challenge. The first calf crop that we have sired by Kill Switch are what we feel outstanding. Kill Switch speaks for himself. You won’t be disappointed.

A New Trend heifer was Ben Fraser’s $13,500 selection for Australia, as well as seven direct daughters in the Brylor herd. The mixture of sires in this flush couldn’t be any better in Indeed 104H and the original Kodiak 5R bull.
