All bulls selling will be penned at the sale facility. The auction will be conducted inside the sale barn at Black Gold Genetics Headquarters. A video of each bull will be played on a large screen display as the animal sells. Cattle will not come into the sale ring.
If you cannot be with us on sale day, mail or phone bids will be handled with strictest of confidence. Please call any of the sale phones provided.
All persons attending the Black Gold Genetics bull sale do so at their own risk. The sale sponsors, sale manager, and Black Gold Genetics assume no liability for accidents, theft, injury, sickness, or damages occuring during this event on site of Black Gold Genetics.
Cash or check on sale day. Bulls are to be paid for directly following the sale. Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over information printed in the sale book. Any disputes will be settled by the auctioneer and his decision will be final. All cattle sell under the standard terms and conditions recommended by the AGA, AAA, and RAA.
The bulls will be available for viewing by appointment any time prior to the sale. Bulls will be ready for viewing on sale day by 9 AM.

All bulls sell with a valid health certificate that will allow shipment anywhere in the continental United States. All bulls are selling virgin bulls. All bulls have been tested PI BVD free. Bulls have received all appropriate vaccinations and any applicable boosters. All bulls have received Ivomec pour-on prior to sale date. All bulls will be tric tested.
Ultrasound data was collected December 10th 2025.
Each bull is guaranteed to settle healthy, fertile females and have been semen tested. Should any bull be claimed a nonbreeder the recommendation of the AGA will apply. However, this does not preclude us from making adjustments that are mutually beneficial to both parties.
Retaining 1/3 semen interest in all bulls selling unless otherwise noted. Buyer will take 100% possession, 100% salvage value. Semen collection, if we select to do so, will be at our expense and your convenience during the off breeding season. Should the buyer choose to collect semen on the bulls, the expense and semen will be 100% of the buyer. At a later date, by mutual agreement, if semen sales are a possibility the mutual agreed on expense and revenue will be split 1/3 Black Gold Genetics and 2/3 with the buyer.
The Genomically Enhanced EPDs listed in the sale book were obtained from the American Gelbvieh Association, the American Angus Association, and the American Red Angus Association and are current as of 2/20/2021. EPDs are subject to change with updated data processed through the AGA, AAA, and RAA between sale day and registration transfers. Weaning weights provided are adjusted weights calculated by the respective associations. All bulls have been Genomically Enhanced through Geneseek. EPDs being enhanced allows for greater accuracy of EPDs.
Black Gold Genetics will deliver all purchases free of charge within 200 miles, or central points in Colorado and adjoining states. We will try to coordinate between multiple buyers so bulls can be delivered conveniently and efficiently to the buyer. Deliveries can be scheduled from shortly after the sale date to the end of April. Bring your own trailer and deduct $100 per head if hauled away day of sale.

Jason Walton is a long time customer of Black Gold Genetics, and attended the very first Share the Gold Bull Sale held at Winter Livestock twenty years ago. Jason runs his custom hay business in the Johnson, KS area. He and his son Alec utilize Black Gold Genetics to rebuild their cow base within their own herd. The maternal foundation of Black Gold Bulls ave given heavy influence to the maternal side of their herd.
Jason has been running gelbvieh influenced bulls his whole life, and is impressed with the calm disposition and docility of the Crane herd. Besides that, calves out of his Black Gold bulls have hit the ground at a manageable weight for cows or heifers calving, and still grown at exceptional rates.
Jason recalls when a clean up bull from the Crane family was snake bit and died, just 2 days later Mark delivered a spare clean up sire himself to finish out the season.

The Bishop Family has been purchasing from Black Gold genetics since the 1990’s. We have always been extremely happy with the quality of sires and how they performed throughout the year, with great weaning weights off grass and profitable conversion rates in the feedlot.

The Igentity stamp recognizes all our bulls have been 100K DNA tested for genomically enhanced EPDs. Bulls with this testing have higher accuracy EPDs.
We stand behind all of our bulls and want you to be satisfied. All of our bulls have passed a fertility soundness exam, unless indicated on the sale block. The first breeding season is guaranteed against injury.
If any bull purchased in the Black Gold Genetics Bull Sale or private treaty is disabled during the first 90 days following first turnout as a young bull, the following will apply.
If your young bull is temporarily unable to complete the breeding season, if possible, Black Gold Genetics will provide you with a loaner bull without cost to you other than transportation of the bull from and back to Black Gold Genetics.
If your bull becomes permanently disabled, Black Gold Genetics will provide a loaner bull with the option to keep the loaner bull or Black Gold Genetics will allow credit (not exceeding purchase value), minus $2,000 will be applied toward the purchase of one bull in the next Black Gold Genetics sale. Buyer keeps the salvage value. Should the bull you purchase cost more than your credit, you pay the difference. If he costs less, no further credit is due.
In the event of death during the first breeding season, a credit of 50% of the sale price will be applied at the next sale of a bull. This guarantee does not cover illness due to neglect. If you have a problem, please notify us as soon as possible since we try to keep a few bulls available in case your new Black Gold Genetics bull is disabled the first breeding season. If you are unable to attend the sale, a bull can be purchased f during the auction. Please call Mark in advance of the sale to range and the type of bull you are looking for, and he will recommen bulls that will fit your needs. If you don’t like the bull when he is delivered to your place, he is not yours and the money paid will be refunded. If purchased for less than your maximum bid, you get the bull at the amoun the ring at, just as if you were bidding yourself. Each year breeders tak advantage of this free service.
