Places t Speaking of Liverpool ONE, the terrace that opens up onto Chavasse Park, upstairs at Liverpool ONE, is our second recommended destination for a spot of fun in the sun. It’s cocktail o’clock when we head in this direction and while the whole place – from Yee Rah to Palm Sugar with plenty in between – has a fantastic atmosphere and loads to offer, we suggest that you try some classic, Latin cocktails at Las Iguanas to really taste the summer. Liverpool ONE. Best for: a well deserved cocktail, Friday night after work. Coming away from the waterfront there is one big-old beer terrace that stands out as THE place to head for a pint in the sunshine. You guessed it, Concert Square is our next outdoor destination of choice. It’s no surprise that Concert Square was recommended by our social network as one of the best inner city places to have a drink. A favourite, particularly with the students of our city, for many years, Concert Square has more bars than you could shake a stick at (no, we don’t really know what that expression means either... it just has a huge choice of bars, ok?). With Modo serving directly onto the terrace, you don’t even need to go inside to get a beer. Don’t forget the sunscreen. Concert Square. Best for: a Saturday afternoon session.

If you’re looking for the beer garden path less trodden, you’re in luck. There are plenty of beautiful little terraces in the city centre if you know where to look. Ye Cracke, tucked away on Rice Street, has a great beer garden and was actually a favourite haunt of John Lennon – not a bad recommendation for any venue. It’s still going strong and is never more popular than on a sunny day. Peacock on Seel Street not only has plenty of space to sit in the sun but it also, more often than not, serves FREE FOOD on a Friday after work. You just can’t ask for more than that. And finally, did you know that The Monro on Duke Street has a beer garden? Until very recently we’d mainly spent time in The Monro during the winter, snuggled up in front of their open fire with a pint and a big piece of cake. Imagine how pleased we were to discover that this gastro pub and purveyor of fabulous grub is just as great in the summer time, with a light, bright and beautiful beer garden out the back! We know where we’ll be off to this Sunday. Hidden beer gardens. Best for: a pubcrawl of discovery. Where’s your favourite spot for outdoor drinking in the city?
