Buying into Baltimore Incentive FAQs
Q: How can I earn a homeownership counseling certificate??
You can earn a homeownership counseling certificate by completing a homeownership workshop and counseling session with a City-approved counseling agency. For a complete list of City-approved counseling agencies, visit LiveBaltimore.com/counseling.
Q: How do I apply for the $5,000 incentive after the Trolley Tour event?
See pages 6-7 for full details on how to apply for the incentive.
Q: What are my chances of receiving a $5,000 incentive?
Incentives are awarded by lottery. The odds of receiving an award vary based on the number of applications submitted following each event. Past applicants have had about a 50% chance of receiving an incentive.
The Buying Into Baltimore incentive is available every Winter, Spring, and Fall after attending a Trolley Tour event.
Q: How many incentive awards are available through each event?
Twenty homebuyers from each Trolley Tour event may receive the Buying Into Baltimore incentive. Incentive money is not awarded at events.
Q: How are $5,000 incentives awarded following an event?
Twenty Buying Into Baltimore incentives are awarded by lottery following each Trolley Tour event. Incentive money is distributed at settlement, not at events.
Lottery winners from the January Trolley Tour are chosen from a pool of all eligible applicants at 3 pm on February 10, 2023. All participants are contacted via email after the lottery drawing.
Q: Can my partner and I both qualify for an incentive?
Only one incentive application will be accepted per property address. One contract equals one lottery entry, meaning two people buying a home together will not be entered into the lottery twice.
