COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY SERVICES:

WiFi, Printers, IoT, Oh My!

Lumina Communities works closely with Computers and Technology Services with the University to maintain the overall WiFi experience for our residents.

The CTS Help Desk has shared the following recommendations to ensure a good WiFi connection:

  • Verify you are using the correct network (DuqNet or DuqNetIoT) for your device.

  • Avoid blocking any WiFi access points in your unit with large furniture or objects. Turn off interfering WiFI devices.

  • Follow up with roommates or neighbors about turning off their interfering WiFi devices.

Wireless Printers

CTS does not recommend using a wireless printer in your unit. When powered on, these devices broadcast a wireless signal that interferes with DuqNet.

This causes network interference that can impact everyone in your immediate area. A wireless printer is available to our residents in each of the community study areas.

Follow these instructions to print from a Lumina building:

  1. Go to duprint.duq.edu and sign in using your MultiPass username and password.

  2. Click Print in the menu along the top to open the print options window.

  3. Upload the files you want to print and then click Next.

  4. Select your community’s printer.

  5. Click Next.

  6. Click Print Now to complete your print job.

  7. Collect your print job.

If you are unable to ‘release’ your print job from the printer before your job times out, you may need to follow the instructions again to successfully print and retrieve your documents.
