The Orbit Stroller is the perfect ride for trips to + from the big city. If you are one who is always on the go, then this stroller was made for you! With easy loading + 360 degree swivel, there’s no question about how this baby got its name. From the minute we took this stroller out of the box, we knew it was love at first site. Not only does it have a sleek + modern look, but the functionality of this stroller is every mother’s dream. It really does have all the bells + whistles + is, in our opinion, something you can’t live without! Our absolute number one stroller must-have is a cup holder. Trust us when we say to never buy a stroller without a cup holder built in or as an additional accessory. This may seem like such a small thing, but we learned the hard way that it truly is an everyday necessity. And this stroller gives us just that! A few other features we love about this stroller: the adjustable handles which make the transition to different heights a breeze, the large cargo basket to carry all of your families necessities, the easy rotation of the seat for a variety of views, and the one-handed fold for seriously easy storage!

31

| littlepeanutmag.com

This system is perfect to grow with your little peanut + a growing family because of the genius sidekick stroller board option which we are completely obsessed with. We might even have to argue that this is the best invention when it comes to baby gear! This “skate board” can quickly be moved to either side of your stroller, and you can add up to two sidekicks to your stroller for an unprecedented 3-child solution. If you have bigger toddlers + children who like the independence of not being strapped in but still need a little push from time to time, then this is hands down the best solution for you! Another awesome feature, if you decide to add more babies to the family, is that the G3 stroller converts to a double stroller with a Helix Plus Upgrade Kit. There are so many amazing options + features, and we just can’t say enough good things about this stroller! The Orbit Stroller has definitely raised the standard for stroller systems, and we are for sure on the bandwagon! This stroller is a one-time investment that will lovingly become a part of your family for many scenic trips around the city for years to come.

THE NUNA PHOTOGRAPHY LINDSEY STEWART

littlepeanutmag.com

34

The Nuna IVVI stroller was designed to help take some of the work out of being new parents so that you can enjoy every minute with that sweet new babe. Those first few months go quickly, and your peanuts will be running around before you know it! The IVVI is a multimode stroller you can use from the day your peanut arrives until he/she doesn’t even want to be pushed around anymore. Flaunting an oh-so-clever all-weather seat, which smartly switches with the seasons, and a sleek + snooze-friendly dream drape for on-the-go naptime, this stroller is both functional + stylish. This hybrid system handles a carry cot, infant seat, and/or curious toddlers all with equal parts innovation + fashion-forward design. This stroller is lightweight, easy to maneuver, and a super smooth ride making it our favorite stroller for simple strolls to the park or around the neighborhood. Equipped with everything you need, this smart-looking stroller also has a smart looking price. A few features that we are particularly fond of are the adjustable foot rest, the oversized, extendable canopy

35

| littlepeanutmag.com

with flip out eyeshade, and the one-hand, three position recline which keeps little riders relaxed when sleeping + perfectly upright when exploring. Nuna’s line of gear is made in an eco-friendly + ISO-certified factory + consists of quality materials. They strive to eliminate the use of toxic chemicals in all of their products as much as possible. It’s important to us when shopping for baby products that they comply with the most current US Federal + European chemical safety standards, and you can rest easy knowing you are providing the best for your family, your newest addition, and the world around you.

THE BUGABOO PHOTOGRAPHY TYLER RYE

littlepeanutmag.com

38

The all-terrain Bugaboo Buffalo stroller is designed specifically for parents who want to go anywhere + who love to explore + discover. Whether that’s blazing a trail through the urban jungle, traveling across the country, or wandering through the desert-paved trails of Zion National Park, Bugaboo’s got you covered! Bugaboo’s latest stroller, the Bugaboo Buffalo, is as at home in the city as it is on tough trails. This iconic stroller is well known in the baby gear world + at the top of the list when it comes to luxurious + stylish strollers; you might just call it the Range Rover of strollers! But is this lavish stroller brand really worth the investment + all the hype? We are here to truthfully answer that with a capital YES! It is! The sleek design far exceeded our expectations when it comes to a smooth ride + quality parts. Trust us when we say we’ve had our fair share of inexpensive strollers, all of which have lacked in quality + durability. In hindsight, it would have been wiser for us to invest in a long-term product like the Bugaboo Buffalo early on because it can keep up with our growing family.

39

| littlepeanutmag.com

We love a good adventure + exploring the beautiful state we live in. The Bugaboo Buffalo allows us to share our love of the great outdoors with our little peanuts by bringing them along for the ride. This stroller is built tough enough for the Dad to maneuver, and also has an adjustable handlebar to help accommodate Mom. Versatile, robust, and spacious, the one-piece-fold Bugaboo Buffalo has multiple luggage options, a high + spacious seat, and an extendable sun canopy for extra protection against the elements. If you don’t necessarily need an all-terrain stroller the Buffalo is still great for trips in the city or to your favorite local spot. The Bugaboo Family does offers a wide range of stroller options to best fit your lifestyle. So if you are looking for something more compact to zip from one place to another you should check out the Bugaboo Bee that is designed specifically for parents who live life on the fly. We also love the convertible Bugaboo Donkey that is designed to grow with your family. It transforms in just three simple clicks – from a mono to a duo. No matter your expedition preferences, Bugaboo offers great options that are always a smoothest of rides.

BROOKE WHITE INSPIRING MOM + singer/songwriter co-creator of the Girls with Glasses Show PHOTOGRAPHY BY BECKY KIMBALL

69

| littlepeanutmag.com

TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOU + WHAT YOU ARE UP TO WITH WORK!

HOW DO YOU BALANCE WORK LIFE AND FAMILY LIFE?

I'm Londy Loo's mom, a music maker, American Idol survivor, artsy fartsy lady, wild-haired beauty school drop out, barefoot shoe lover, frequent Disneylander, long captioner, tortured over-analyzer, girl with glasses! I used to spend most of my time singing and songwriting behind a piano or a guitar, on a stage or in the studio. However, since becoming a mom to my cool little girl London, 3 years ago, I put music on the back burner to be closer to home with my family. But I've always got a creative project up my sleeve. Because if I don't create I'll die! In the last few years I've spent a bit more time in my gold glitter glasses as half of the Girls with Glasses Show, a web series on YouTube that I started a while back with my friend Summer Bellessa. It's a lifestyle variety show filled with DIYs, fashion, beauty, parenting, travel and occasionally we write songs and do parodies. It's usually silly, sometimes informative but mainly we just want to make people happy!

Yikes! The B word! I feel like I don't know how to answer questions about Balance. Because I really blow it in the balance department. But I want balance, badly. I'm either here or there. It's hard and probably my biggest struggle as a passionate mom/wife with strong creative ambitions. It's pretty obvious to those I know well that I struggle. I actually had a good friend give me a book I'm currently reading "Queen of Distraction" and it's a book about women with ADHD and how to manage it. Haha! I've never been diagnosed but I've felt so discouraged throughout my life with struggles of imbalance, distraction, over-committing, time management, indecision, perfectionism, anxiety and probably a bit of depression. As I read it I keep finding myself saying "yep that's me!!". I'm identifying so closely with it and it's kind of a relief. All I can say about work life balance is that I try my best. And sometimes my best is good. Sometimes it sucks. Multi-tasking is usually my downfall and so I'm just trying to be present in whatever I'm doing. One thing at a time! When I'm working I try to just work. When I’m with my family, I try to just zone in on the family. Mindfulness is massive! Saying no is also important, though hard. Working on that. And truthfully, I gave up making dinner for a while. We eat out but try to make good choices. And I fully surrender to the fact that, I NEED HELP. I'm not super mom. I can't do everything and I can't do it alone. Once I accepted the help of a babysitter, or someone to clean my house once a month or my husband stepping in to do more to help pick up the slack, things got a bit more under control. But usually, it's a day-by-day, minute-byminute battle for that balance.

WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE PARTS ABOUT YOUR JOB? As a mom, my favorite part of the job is seeing my girl become herself, watching her build Legos, paint pictures, crack an egg or create something out of random objects around the house. I love listening to her talk and hearing the funny things she has to say. It always surprises me, how smart she is. She has opinions, strong ones. What songs she likes: Yellow by Coldplay or Downtown by Petula Clark. What she wants to wear, dresses. She is growing so fast. She is getting so big. Literally! I know that too soon she will be too big for me to hold her and carry her around on my hip. Lately she has wanted me to hold her and I'm trying to embrace it. She snuggles her face into my neck and that is everything. Being a mom can be so hard, but it's heaven too. My favorite part of music is making records, being in the studio and creating something from nothing. Stacking harmonies on the mic. It's magic. I could make records everyday forever if I didn't have to actually promote them and make money, that part rips my heart out. My favorite part of being a Girl with Glasses is collaborating with great friends. We get to be silly and grown-ups all at once and we even get paid sometimes!

WHAT INSPIRES YOU? Music! Music keeps me alive and in love with life and the world. It is my medicine and my therapy! I listen to it in my room, in my office, in my car, at he gym. Whenever I can. And usually loud! I recently started taking a tiny bit of time to just listen and discover new music on Spotify in the evening. I love making playlists for friends and family too. Playing the piano is always therapeutic. Another way I stay inspired is audible.com! Self help books all the way! Another book that I found super powerful was Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less. Life changing. A trip to a thrift store or vintage shop can really get my creative juices flowing. I dig used stuff and love how it diversifies my personal style. It tells a story.

AFTER A LONG BUSY WEEK, WHAT DO YOU DO TO UNWIND?

WHAT DO YOU + YOUR FAMILY LIKE TO DO TOG ETHER?

U-relax! You know, those Chinese foot message places? We've got a ton of them here in California and for 20 bucks you can get the best massage of your life for an hour, and no one talks to you so it's just quiet with awesome Chinese music. I love it so much! Also, a trip to target is always good.

Eat! Haha! We love to grab dinner out at Malibu Seafood during the summer and sit on the patio. We love Costco pizza and hotdogs, or enchiladas at our favorite Mexican joint. We take drives along the PCH after church on Sunday's and we watch So You Think You Can Dance?!

WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU CAN G IVE OTHER MOTHERS?

WHAT QUOTE BEST DESCRIBES YOU + WHAT YOU LIVE BY?

Do your best. I think that's what it comes down to. Don't compare yourself to another mother. Accept help and don't be afraid to ask for it. Give up the perfect life for a happy life. Get out of the house. Try to be here, now. Look into your little ones eyes as much as possible. Hold on, but let go.

The quote that I've been pondering on a lot lately is "in the end, I'm the only one who can give my children a happy mother who loves life". When I read it, it hit me like a ton of bricks. Such a powerful realization and I truly believe that one of the greatest gifts we can give our children and our families is a generally happy mom.

SLOW-COOKER APPLE BUTTER ING REDIENTS -

5 pounds of apples (about 10 apples) 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup honey 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon cinnamon juice of 1 lemon

DIRECTIONS - Peel and chop up apples into small pieces, then transfer to slow-cooker. - Toss apples with brown sugar, honey, salt, cinnamon, and lemon juice. - Cover and cook on low for 8 hours. I like to let it cook over night so when you wake in the morning your house smells heavenly! - Transfer mixture to food processor and blend until completely smooth. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your processor. - Transfer to airtight containers (we love these ones) and refrigerate for up to 3 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.

TURKEY BRIE + CRANBERRY-APRICOT SANDWICH ING REDIENTS Cranberry-Apricot Chutney - 1 tablespoon olive oil - 1/3 cup sweet onion, chopped - 1 spicy red pepper, seeded and chopped - 1 clove of garlic, minced - juice of 1/2 lemon - juice of 1 orange - 1 teaspoon worcestershire - 4 tablespoons of brown sugar - pinch of ginger - 12 ounce bag of cranberries - 15 dried apricot rounds, chopped - 1 cup water - 1 teaspoon salt

Sandwich Ingredients - hearty bread - sliced turkey - sliced brie - cranberry-apricot chutney - handful of salad greens

DIRECTIONS - To make the chutney, heat olive oil in a sauce pan over medium heat. Add onion and pepper, cook for 3 minute until the onions have softened. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more. Add the remaining chutney ingredients to the pan and bring to a boil, let cook covered for 10 minutes until the cranberries have softened and then remove the lid and cook until nearly all of the liquid has cooked away, about another 10-15 minutes. - Taste for sweetness and add another tablespoon or 2 of sugar, if you think it needs it. - Let cool then transfer to a jar and keep in the refrigerator (will last a good 2 weeks). - To assemble the sandwiches spread chutney on bread and pile turkey, brie, and salad greens on top.

FALL HERB ROASTED CHICKEN ING REDIENTS -

3-4 pounds bone-in chicken 1/4 cup olive oil 2 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary 2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme 1 tablespoon brown sugar 2 tablespoons butter 1 1/2 cup wild rice 3/4 cup orzo pasta 2 1/2 cup chicken broth 1 cup sherry wine 2 carrots, chopped into 1/2" pieces 2 parsnips, chopped into 1/2" pieces 2 cups cremini mushrooms 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley juice of 1 lemon 1/4 cup honey salt + pepper to taste 1 head of garlic, minced 1 red onion, cut into eights

DIRECTIONS - Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. - Heat a large dutch oven pot (our favorite it this one) Add the 2 tablespoons olive oil. Toss the chicken with the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil, thyme, rosemary, brown sugar, and a good pinch of both salt and pepper. Add the chicken to the dutch oven and sear on both sides until lightly browned, about 2 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the pan. Repeat with any remaining chicken, remove from the pan. - Reduce the heat to medium and add 2 tablespoons butter. Add the orzo and cook about 1-2 minutes or until lightly toasted and golden, stirring often (watch this closely as it burns fast). Add the wild rice and toast another 1-2 minutes, stirring often. Toss in the carrots, parsnips and mushrooms, cook 2 minutes. Add the chicken broth, sherry and another pinch of salt and pepper. Use a wooden spoon to scrape up any browned bits off the bottom of the pan. Stir in the parsley and remove from heat. - Place the chicken right on top of the rice. Drizzle with lemon juice and honey, season lightly with salt and pepper. Add the onion and garlic. Throw in a few sprigs of fresh thyme and rosemary. Cover the pan tightly with a lid. - Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is cooked.
