The demolished house, a landmark of Sikinos, comes to life through abstract visual compositions projected on its walls. The artist uses light, bright colors, organic textures and images reminiscent of the island itself. The movements of colors and textures inside the building depict the ever-changing world while Sikinos itself continues to embrace its uniqueness.

F Kid 3+ AQUAVITAE Marine Midy (FR)

Sunday, 22 August | 22:00

Inspired from oceanographic explorations, AQUAVITAE offers a dreamlike, on stage portrait of the ocean. Medusa, a sole female marine goddess and water as a mirror of the society. Those creatures with their powerful eyes, terror stricken, will offer us another vision of reality. Medusas proliferate in the ocean in the absence of predators, due to overfishing as well as due to their easy adaptation to changes. They are beautiful, bewitching, mysterious and nonetheless monstrous and dangerous. They are sending a strong wake-up call to humanity. Medusas are now the queens of the sea. If we assume that water is the origin of the world, and that its life functions are threatened by human activities, then if the marine biosphere comes to extinction, we human beings will die, too. So now is the time to find a way for humans to cope with such a fragile world.

+ O ect ’ t ACROSS HER BODY Zaharias Mavroidis (GR)

Monday, 23 August | 20:00

Every July 31st, Mrs. Irene and the other remaining “fifteeners” return to the obsolete Monastery of the Accession, on the island of Therasia, the little know twin sister of cosmopolitan Santorini. For fifteen days they stay at the empty cells of the Monastery, preparing it for the celebration of the Accession and praying for eternal rest of their beloved ones. In between they recall past glories of the tradition of “Fifteen” while gazing at the touristic traffic across Santorini’s volcanic bay. ACROSS HER BODY questions issues of faith, identity and gender by correlating three distinct bodies: the “unspoiled” body of the Virgin Mary, the deserted body of the once upon a time fertile Therasia and the aging female bodies of the fifteeners.

STILL, MISSING YOU NOBODY’S TALES

STILL, MISSING YOU Layla Klinger (USA)

A passageway of electroluminescent lace, activated by the people passing through. This interactive installation can only be witnessed through participation - controlled by motion and soft textile touch sensors, different light patterns are activated through touch and movement. The body is encouraged to have a dialogue with the work, moving and discovering new ways to move itself, to touch, and explore the possibilities of this new interaction. Breaking down the traditional art and constructed environment hierarchy of subject/object, this work is comprised of two bodies: a body of flesh and a body of light, conversing.

NOBODY’S TALES Lele Marcojanny (IT)

Nobody's Tales is a film in a book, an experimental collection of real-life stories. A hybrid of literature and cinematic narrative. Texts, sounds and videos are combined to compose a narrative tale. A collection of stories from the Mediterranean region comprise the chapters of this interactive multimedia book. The first chapter takes place in the old town of Taranto in Italy while the second in Nicosia, Cyprus. The first delves into the meaning of time while the second into identity. The stories are geographically located but are globally readable and understood and can travel to many countries just like myths and fairy tales. Short stories of people unfolding in the Mediterranean, a sea that instead of separating, according to the dominant narrative, eventually brings people together.
