ISSUE 1| WEEK 3| TERM 4 | 2023

TECHNOLOGICAL & APPLIED STUDIES NEWS As the year is nearing the end and reporting is getting closer, it is a good time to capture what students have been doing this year. We have started the term with a staffing change and would like to wish Mr Ben Berghan all the best in his move to Moree Secondary College. I would also like to welcome Mr Clay Pawson to the TAS staff. He is working three days a week with us and also teaches at the Dorroughby Environmental Education Centre. This has meant some changes to the timetable for Term 4 and the teacher your child has for their TAS class. Earlier in the year Ms Ruby Dowling transferred from the Richmond River Campus as well. We are very well resourced and offer many electives in our subject area, particularly for Year 9 and 10 students, including Food Technology, Crafty Ways, Child Care, Industrial Technology Timber, Industrial Technology Metal, Industrial Technology Multimedia, iSTEM, Information and Software Technology and Agriculture. These courses have been particularly popular for the current Year 8 students who have chosen their electives for next year. We wish the Year 12 students in Hospitality, Industrial Technology Metals, Design and Technology, and Community and Family Studies success with their HSC and future learning and work commitments. 80% of the Hospitality students in Year 12 picked up part-time work after their 70 hours of work placement and all students completed the Certificate II in Hospitality (SIT20316) course which they will receive this qualification as well as their Higher School Certificate. The Year 11 Hospitality class have completed one week of work placement and are currently organising their second week. They have also completed a coffee making course. Students in all junior years are currently finishing their projects ready for marking and inclusion in their reports. A summary of what many of the years are currently completing follows. bugalbee Mrs Debbie Baker Head Teacher TAS
