Local Investment Plan Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has been here for you throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

What we have delivered Over the past year, whilst continuing to deliver essential services, we have:

Listened to our communities as equal partners and provided

almost £700k in financial support to local groups and organisations.

Helped our businesses

access almost £700k of COVID-19 business support grants.

Looking ahead We continue to do the right thing, right now. We recognise the financial challenges that have been caused by the pandemic for our residents and our business community. We hope that freezing the district rate for 2021/22 will help ease some of that pressure.

COVID-19 has challenged us to think differently and to deliver more efficiently. We will continue to build on this.

Our outdoor spaces play a key role in helping us to exercise and get outside.

We will deliver: •

5 new community polytunnels & community gardens

£80k community sports funding

New Hydebank Trim Trail

Tackling Environmental Issues We have seen an increase in dog fouling and littering in our beautiful outdoor spaces recently and whilst we welcome visitors we must keep our places clean. We also continue to deal with increasing levels of waste.

We will deliver: •

2 new local ‘Bring Facilities’ to recycle card and bottles

Local Investment Plan

Empowering our Communities We want to empower our communities to help themselves by providing funding, support and advice.

We will deliver: •

£280k funding for your community facilities

• Improved amenities, parks, greenways, gardens and open spaces •

£10k to support rural village plans

Prioritising Economic Growth We want to help rebuild our economy by providing support, advice and funding to revitalise our local economy and attract shoppers to our retail spaces.

We will deliver: •

£568k to revitalise our towns, villages and city

• Increased promotion of our city, town and village retail offerings •

Free online business support programmes delivered by leading experts on key business issues

£30k Mayor’s Youth Fund

Sharing our Culture We want to continue to build on the spirit of cooperation and share what is great about where we live.

We will deliver: •

2 exciting archaeological studies at key landmarks

Maintenance and restoration of Hilden war memorial

• £20k funding for communities to celebrate cultural diversity •

£65k NI Centenary Programme

Looking to the Future The COVID-19 pandemic has changed how we deliver our services.

In many ways it has further enabled our digital agenda as we rely on technology to support the delivery of essential services.

As well as delivering the Local Investment Plan, we remain focused on long term investment and development of Lisburn & Castlereagh. Our 10 Year Investment Plan Proposition will help us to fulfil our longer term ambition to: •
