On that same night, when NBC begins an hourlong special that immediately precedes the final “Office” episode, Fischer will be making her New York theater debut in a much-anticipated work by A-list playwright Neil LaBute, a career milestone any actress would covet — and she knows she never would have gotten it without the years she put in at Dunder Mifflin, the fictional Scranton, Pa., paper company where Pam plugged away and eventually found love with her colleague and soul mate, Jim Halpert (John Krasinski). “ ‘The Office’ made all my dreams come true,” the actress says from New York during a break in rehearsals for her play. “When I moved to Los Angeles to be an actress, all I wanted to do was to be part of a group of people on a really funny show that I truly loved.

And it came true. That’s a really powerful thing, to be a little girl and wish for this thing and then have it happen.

I got to be on the ‘Cheers’ of my generation. John and I got to be Sam and Diane, which is what I wanted more than anything.”

As fans hope for the best for the Halperts, both Fischer and Krasinski

freely acknowledge that they expect “The Office” to be a once-in-a-lifetime professional experience.

“Everything else that happens now is gravy,” Fischer says. “If ‘The Office’ is the only thing that I am remembered for, that’s still the greatest gift of my life. I hope that I will go on to play other roles that are interesting and move people and are creatively satisfying to me. I think theater might be a good fit for me for awhile, because I know that I am not going to ever find another TV show like this. I honestly don’t think lightning strikes twice with something like this.”

“I was a waiter before this,” Krasinski says. “ ‘The Office’ has given me every opportunity I’ve ever had, along with a pile of experiences and moments and friends that have changed my life forever. To say it’s been transformative is an understatement. You can go from the basics, in that every job I’ve ever gotten was because of this show, to the more existential conversation that I never would have met my wife (actress Emily Blunt) had I not gotten this show. I never would have been in L.A., and she never would have known who I was.

The Jeffrey Donovan-starring espionage drama will be back in its customary Thursday slot to start its seventh season June 6 on USA Network.

“Heroes” alumni Adrian Pasdar and Jack Coleman are both set to have recurring roles in the show’s new round, which will encompass a milestone for any series: its 100th episode.

Why is Cher a Turner Classic Movies host now? — Robert Slade, Grand Junction, Colo.

It was only temporary, and her gig there actually has ended now. The movie and music superstar was enlisted as Robert Osborne’s co-host for a “Friday Night Spotlight” series with the umbrella title “A Woman’s World: The Defining Era of Women in Film,” but it only was for the month of April.

It’s interesting that with such movies as “Moonstruck” (her Oscar winner) and “Mermaids” on her resume, none of Cher’s own films were chosen for the festival.

However, with such greats as “His Girl Friday,” “The Women” and “Mildred Pierce” in the lineup, she and Osborne had plenty to talk about anyway.

I would like to find out if “Inside the Actors Studio” has a regular schedule on Bravo. I always seem to find it by accident. — Kathleen Sitzman, Lincoln, Mich.

You aren’t alone. Not only is any new episode of the program — once a mainstay of the channel in the pre-“Real Housewives” era — scheduled irregularly now, it’s typically announced fairly close to the airdate, so that there isn’t enough time to get a listing for it into weekly television supplements that have a much earlier deadline than daily listings.

Such was the case with recent episodes that featured Hugh Jackman and Tina Fey. However, given the sort of reality programming the channel now specializes in, “Actors Studio” fans probably should be grateful that James Lipton’s series is still being shown there at all.

We loved the first season of “Longmire” and are eagerly awaiting its return. Any good news for us? — Kat Berger, Overland Park, Kan. As a matter of fact, yes. The combination of modern Western and mystery will begin its second season Monday, May 27 — Memorial Day — on A&E Network. Its unofficial partner from last summer also moves from Sundays to Mondays that night, as “The Glades” returns to start its fourth season.

Days of our Lives Brady told Kristen he wanted to adopt. Roman had words with John over the way he was treating Marlena. A mysterious figure broke into Jennifer’s house. Daniel warned Anne to leave Jennifer alone. Kristen went to the secret room in the DiMera mansion to confront her past, only to find John. Daniel and Jennifer spent a romantic afternoon together, unaware an intruder was near. Sami resorted to subterfuge to retrieve the evidence against Will from Bernardi. Justin gave EJ an answer. Ciara concealed important information from Hope. John and Kristen nearly had a close encounter of the amorous kind as Brady was nearby. Gabi caught Nick and Vargas in a tense moment. Nick demanded that Sami give back the money or else. Abigail told Cameron she was ready to progress in their relationship. Sami let Stefano have it for double-crossing her. Rafe warned Nick he was going to tell Gabi the truth about him, but then he was knocked unconscious.

General Hospital Nikolas changed his hotel plans to match up with AJ and Liz’s. Lulu flashed back when visited by Nikolas and agreed to accompany Maxie to a checkup. Scott tried to pin down Laura about their wedding just as Luke arrived. Spinelli told AJ about his discovery just as Luke surprised Tracy with news about the Quartermaine heir. Ellie considered what might happen if she revealed the truth about Maxie’s baby to Spinelli.

TJ asked Molly to the prom. then tricked Rafe into coming to Kelly’s.

Luke and Spinelli searched for Lauren. Dante tried to jog Lulu’s memory. Luke and Laura took stock. Sam and Rafe lit a candle for his mother at church. Nik and Tracy prepared to surprise AJ with Pickle-Eddie on “The Chew.” Luke met with an art dealer. Spinelli spoke with a woman claiming to be Lauren. Liz told Nik to back off AJ. Michael demanded answers from Lauren, but the argument was interrupted by a call from Paul telling them Fen had been arrested for a fight at The Underground. Victor questioned Adam about his relationship with Sharon and his possible fatherhood of Chelsea’s baby. Summer asked Nick to back off and let her make her own decisions. SPOTLIGHT ‘The Mindy Project’ hits the back lot

By Kate O’Hare © Zap2it Already renewed for a second season, Fox’s freshman comedy “The Mindy Project” has the rare pleasure to close out its season on Tuesday, May 14, with the assurance that it’ll return next year.

But that doesn’t mean that star, executive producer and writer Mindy Kaling — who plays love-hungry 30-something OB/GYN Dr. Mindy Lahiri — is ending at a different place than she planned.

Out on the Universal Studios back lot, around the corner from what looks like a giant courthouse and a huge, flat painted row of urban buildings, Kaling is taking a break inside a jumbled restaurant set. From the giant Buddha and pagoda lamps, it might have been a Chinese eatery.

The penultimate episode is in production, involving a frat party and two of Mindy’s exboyfriends: cool Lutheran pastor Casey (Anders Holm, “Workaholics”) and dentist Tom (Bill Hader, “Saturday Night Live”). There’s even some violence, but first, it’s time for a snack.

“I’m going to add more Craisins,” Kaling says, referring both to her bowl of yogurt and to her love of dried cranberries.

“It’s all about the Craisins.”

And, apparently, it’s also about having a road map.

Mindy Kaling “Pickup or no pickup,” she says, “we had the same ending plan, but also there would have been a little bit of finality if we hadn’t gotten picked up. I’ve been thinking about the second season since the pilot, because I thought about the world and how big it was and how ambitious we were.”

“The Mindy Project,” inspired

by Kaling’s OB/GYN mother, also stars Chris Messina and Ed Weeks as Drs. Danny Castellano and Jeremy Reed, respectively, Mindy’s co-workers in a medical practice. Ike Barinholtz plays nurse Morgan Tookers while, like Kaling, doing double duty as a writer and story editor.

“She had her ending in July or August,” says Barinholtz. “Even though it might be some kind of cliffhanger-y end, there’s some kind of emotional resolution of where those characters go to over the year — so if we didn’t come back, there would be a sense of completion.”
