Latest News Active Holidays February Programme a Success BVAL and partners delivered a fantastic ‘Active Holidays’ programme during February half term for families and young people across South East Northumberland. More than 1000 young people attended activities throughout the holidays which included a wide range of sports sessions and camps. In Blyth, an inclusion programme for people with disabilities was attended by 60 young people, setting a new high for the number of people taking part. Move It Community Dance Camps proved to be extremely popular with 70 young people performing routines which had been practised throughout the holidays, this took place at Blyth Sports Centre. Partners who have supported Active Holidays include Seaton Valley Parish Council, Newbiggin Town Council, Morpeth Town Council, Cramlington Town Council and West Bedlington Town Council. BVAL will be delivering a range of activities during May half term, to find out more please visit our website. Taster programme encourages young adults to get active As part of the Sportivate programme in Northumberland, a range of activities targeting 14-25 year olds have been delivered by BVAL including Archery, Multi Sport, Dance, Athletics and Cycling. 96 young adults have attended activities during year two of the programme with 82 attending at least 5 out of 6 sessions. Partners who have supported activities include Northumberland Church Of England Academy, Bedlington High School, Seaton Valley Youth Services, Seaton Valley Town Council, Blyth Community College, Cramlington Learning Village, Northumberland Athletics Network and GUST. As part of Sport England’s Places People Play initiative, Sportivate offers young people aged 14-25 years old the opportunity to take part in a range of sporting activities.
