Six young people with different roots examined during a workshop the significance of the mining area to its inhabitants. They confronted passers-by with questions and images. Is the vernacular being influenced by the many streams of migrants? How do foreign traders communicate in the streets? What value does the mining site have for the younger generation?
The participants were all in their 20s and came from Beringen, Maasmechelen or Genk. With a few photographing and interviewing tasks they set out through CitĂŠ I of Winterslag, Vennestraat and C-mine.
