Defying expectations The four million plus Remuera residential market has seen a surge in sales during the last quarter.

There were 23 publicly recorded sales since June 2020, compared with 18 in 2019, 14 in 2018, and 16 in 2017. A similar trend is occurring in wealthy countries around the world.

Historic low interest rates and monetary policy make property an increasingly valuable asset class. Home too has enhanced meaning, with the only European holiday this year being in

one’s own mansion. Buyers are discerning. The educated know what they will not compromise on, whether that is sea views, property features, or size of landholding. During the last few years there has been a tendency to wait on the side lines. This has changed. Surging sales volumes have fuelled confidence and bolstered activity, suggesting the coming summer may be the strongest yet.
