Grab your keys, start the engine, and jump into the journey of life with Singarama: Life is a Highway!
We are honored that you have joined Student Life and College of Entertainment and the Arts to celebrate one of Lipscomb University’s longest-running traditions. Singarama: Life is a Highway is a show that celebrates the adventures, challenges, and milestones we all encounter along the road. From the carefree days of youth to the twists, turns, and triumphs of adulthood, this year’s production explores the stages of life through music, storytelling, and performance.
As always, we are excited for a memorable and fun-filled show of entertainment with these three original mini-musicals written, choreographed, and produced exclusively by students. With songs that spark nostalgia, moments that connect to the present, and stories that inspire hope for the future, this show is designed to resonate with audiences of all ages. Get ready for a heartfelt, uplifting ride that reminds us that life is truly a highway, filled with memories made, lessons learned, and the excitement of what lies ahead.
While the acts are ultimately competing against one another in Visual Elements, Choreography, Theme, Entertainment, and Vocals, the Singarama experience goes beyond winning a trophy. This production allows space for developing leadership skills, writing skills, musical talent, artistry, and choreography.
The partnership with the College of Entertainment and the Arts has allowed more students to assist in the production. The Singarama band, hosts, dancers, and media are all designed and facilitated by CEA students. We are excited for you to see how this partnership enhanced the small and large details of Singarama.
We thank you for celebrating and supporting the 63rd Singarama and cheering on our students!
Enjoy the Show!

THE NEXT LEVEL
Set in 1989, on the day of their high school graduation, four high school friends break out into a fight. Their guidance counselor intervenes, dragging them to his office and refusing to let them leave until they resolve their issues. To ease tensions, the counselor suggests they play a few games on the Atari in his office. When they power it on, the friends are suddenly pulled inside the game and must work together to find a way out.

Special Thanks
Lipscomb University Student Government Association, Kristi Jones, Kim Chaudoin and the Office of Communication and Public Relations, Wendy Archer and Lipscomb University Events Management, the College of Entertainment and the Arts, and Foundation Dance Team.
The final thanks is reserved for two remarkable students who stepped up to take Singarama to the next level. After directing outstanding club shows last year, Emily Richerson and Hadley Hall were invited to step into new roles as Student Production Assistants, helping oversee the overall show production. The joy, initiative, and excellence they brought to this year’s show was truly unmatched.
Hadley infused her tenacious creative storytelling into the host numbers, shaping moments that elevated the heart and flow of the production. Emily mentored and encouraged each show’s directors and cast members, providing thoughtful guidance that strengthened both their confidence and the overall quality of every performance. Together, this dynamic duo combined their talents to create a Singarama show that told a cohesive and compelling story from lights up to curtain down. Life truly is a highway, and we are forever grateful that Hadley and Emily have been on the journey with us.
Thank you for coming to Singarama 2026!
PLEASENOTE: Flashing lighting, strobe lights, and theatrical haze and fog will be used during the performance.

HISTORY
1964
Singarama's debut was February 3, 1964, staged by the six social clubs which were started on campus to replace class distinctions. Coba Craig, the first Singarama director, was given a standing ovation from the first Singarama, Club Chante'. The first winning act was produced by the Gammas (at this time each act was 15 minutes).
1966
After a few successful years, one of the most unusual aspects of Singarama history took place. There were two Singarama shows in the calendar year. Due to the busyness of Spring semester, the Singarama staff attempted to move the show to the Fall semester; however, this change was short-lived. In the school year of 1967-68, Singarama returned to its Sping date requested by popular demand.
1973
This was the first year “friends” (students who are not members of social clubs) participated in Singarama.
1974
Singarama went to two performances and lengthened each individual act to 25 minutes.
1977
A third performance was introduced along with the decision to charge admission.
1978
As participation increased, so did the audience. A year later, a fourth performance, a Saturday Matinee, was added.
1979
To honor the then President Willard Collins, individual awards were given out. “The Willards” awards were distributed to those who demonstrated excellence in Singarama.
1980
For the first time, campus-wide auditions were held to select hosts for the production. Kevin Arvin and Sherilyn Harless had the honor of being the first Singarama hosts.
1983
Singarama celebrated its 20th anniversary with the winning act, Frontierland, directed by John Balentine.
1985
Sarah Keith Gamble became Singarama's coordinator after serving as assistant coordinator for a number of years.
1988
Singarama: An Anniversary Celebration was the theme for the show's 25th anniversary, as the four groups offered gifts of Diamonds, Gold, Pearl, and Silver. A special feature of this anniversary year was the first appearance of four hosts.
1993
We celebrated 30 years of Singarama with the theme It’s Showtime! Shane Hooper led the Comedy cast to victory.
1998
In celebration of 35 years of Classic Singarama we presented three popular themes of the past: Romance, Adventure, and Mystery. Andrea Spencer's Adventure act captured first place.
2002
Melissa Lancaster joined us as Director of the Hosts, and we celebrated by selecting 6 hosts: Laura Ellis, Jonathan Hardison, Aaron Johnson, Chris Lindsey, Vicki VanAcker and Mandy Wilson
2003
The production’s theme was Milestones: Celebrating 40 Years of Singarama! featuting Memories, Celebrations, and Dreams as Andrea Calhoun's Celebrations captured first place.
2008
We celebrated 45 years of Singarama with A Play on Words as we explored Since, Cents, and Sense. Tyler Browning and his cast of pirates captured the Sweepstakes trophy for Some Change Will Do You Good. Many thanks to the Otter Creek Church of Christ for hosting Singarama 2008 while Collins Alumni Auditorium was being renovated.
2009
We returned to a newly-renovated Collins Alumni Auditorium to present Branded, which featured three popular marketing slogans Don't Leave Home Without It, The Best Part of Waking Up, and Can You Hear Me Now? The Best Part of Waking Up, directed by Katie Callis, was declared the winning show.
2010
For the first time in the show's history 8 Hosts and Hostesses took the stage: Mariel Bolton, Josh Britt, Zack Green, Carter Hamric, Mallory Haynes, Allison Lancaster, Carter Martin, and Joe Muchmore!
2013
Celebrating 50 years of Singarama with the theme: Timeless. David Grayson directed the winning act: No day But Today. Kelsea Ballerini, a now country music singer and songwriter, served as a host for Singarama in 2012 and 2013.
2015
The acts started using a video board as the backdrops for their sets. Before this year, students would paint large canvas sheets to act as their scenery.
2020
Due to the uncertainty at the start of the pandemic, Singarama was not a live production.
2021
Singarama went virtual. Due to health and safety precautions, we did not have the capacity to bring Singarama fully back in-person. Acts practiced through out the Spring semester and performed for an empty Collins Auditorium and film crew. Although it was sad to not have an audience, the students worked hard to provide an incredible, but virtual show.
2022
A year later, Singarama was fully back in-person! We had an incredible production with an increase in participation and refound love for Singarama.
2023
This year marked the beginning of a beautiful friendship between student life and the College of Entertainment and the Arts as they came on to help strengthen the production. We were especially thankful to Dean Mike Fernandez, the School of Music, the fashion program and the School of Cinematic Arts. They truly made the Diamond Anniversary a marvelous production.
2024
Singarama “Eras” took a look back in time at Lipscomb in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. Student directors were given historical moments in Lipscomb’s past to use as the foundation of their shows. The pivotal stories that helped define the school included: Delta NaNaNa, The 1986 NAIA Basketball Championship, and the inception of Healing Hands International.
2024
Singarama stepped into the world of cinema with "Singarama: Movie Premiere," an exciting show that weaved together the magic of movies and the power of live performance. The production used songs from blockbuster movie soundtracks with original theatrical storytelling, creating an immersive experience that spanned across multiple genres.
For the first time in Singarama history, each individual show created and premiered an original, short film as part of their performance.
