Lipoma is a slow-growing tumor that may feel soft & may move slightly under the skin typically reaching a size of 2-3 centimeters. In rare cases, some people have giant Lipomas than can range from 6-10 cm. Fatty tumors usually trigger the upper body parts like the shoulders, the chest, the forearms, the upper thighs, & the back, etc. However, a Lipoma that develops under the skin can sometimes look unsightly but noticeable when the size increases. Fortunately, non-surgical Lipoma removal is available to treat fatty tumors at your pace. What are the Causes of Lipoma Formation? Lipoma develops underneath the skin as these non-cancerous growths are made up of fat cells that clump together. They can occur in anyone in people who are overweight, consume too much alcohol & fatty foods, are middle-aged & inherit this condition. Some people develop one Lipoma at a time while others have 10 or more due to familal Lipomatosis where Lipoma is passed down to younger generations. Apart from this, certain medical conditions also promote the growth of fatty tumors in the body such as – Gardner's syndrome, Cowden syndrome, Madelung's disease, & adiposis dolorosa, etc. In addition to this, some Lipomas may also result from an injury that involves a substantial impact on the area.
