2019 Detroit Lions Community Report

Kicking off its inaugural year, the Detroit Lions launched the Touchdown In Your Town initiative aiming to foster safe play and a love of football by travelling across the state of Michigan to five youth football camps. At each camp, the local high school team spent time mentoring camp attendees and running drills. At the close of each camp, the Lions revealed a series of surprises. To kick things off, the United Dairy Industry of Michigan presented the high school with a $3,000 Chocolate Milk Grant that would provide nutritious milk at practices and games for all fall sports. USA Football also committed to providing resources for the football teams—presenting a $1,000 equipment grant to each program. As part of a commitment to empowering youth and leveling the playing field for all, Detroit Lions Charities presented the youth and high schoolers with Lions apparel and bags, and surprised each high school team with a $10,000 grant to benefit the football program. As one final surprise, Riddell, in partnership with Detroit Lions Charities, presented the high school programs with brand new SpeedFlex 052 helmets.

• 400+ helmets donated. • 800+ youth impacted. • $70,000 in grants disbursed.
