Directly adjacent to the monastery, a leisure complex has been built, which has a lot to offer especially for children, but also for adults. A new feature is the exhibition “The aliens are coming – New animal and plant species in our homeland”. In the newly constructed walk-through aquarium Danube fish, in particular sturgeons, of up to 2 metres in size can be admired.

Visit the Engelszell monastery, the only Trappist monastery in Austria, famous for its excellent homemade liqueurs, Engelszell Trappist cheese and the latest monastery product: Trappist beer! The church can be visited without a guide! Brewery and liqueur production tours are not possible! The “Sinnesgarten” (sensory garden) is a beautiful garden with old species of fruit, a stone labyrinth, a herb garden and a vineyard with old varieties of grapes. Interactive exhibition “Haus am Strom” and Jochenstein Danube power station

The new interactive exhibition in the Haus am Strom (house on the river) provides fun and easy access to the important themes of the Passau Danube valley: Nature, energy and water. Right next door is a further highlight: the biggest hydroelectric power plant of its kind in Germany, the Bavarian/Upper Austrian Jochenstein Danube power station. Danube Stories exhibition with info point Natura 2000 In the “Danube Stories” exhibition, themes from the history of our market are addressed by children in a playful and artistic way. It is located directly adjacent to the market town council office and includes an original ship’s cabin, small models of ships and much more about life beside and on the Danube.
