Location: Tucson, Arizona Excerpts

from With Good Heart: Yaqui Beliefs and Ceremonies in Pascua Village by Muriel Painter: Huya ania, Wilderness World

“The huya ania is described as remote, wild brush country...with dense thickets of low trees, such as mesquite, and close-growing shrubs like thorny cactus”

Sea ania, Flower World

“[The sea ania] implies the beneficent and fruitful aspects of nature, such as rivers, streams, lakes, clouds, and rain”

“The common concept of the sea ania (flower world) is that it is the huya ania in bloom.”

Merging the Yaqui’s culture into this design to bring out the uniqueness, some of the essential elements such as rose, water, art work, vegetation… Water is one of the critical elements of life, and in this project, plays as a guider throughout the Tortuga Ranch.
