My EVS story started few months after it was born in my mind. I was collaborating with the youth centre in my town on different projects and I was a mentor to an EVS volunteer that was hosted by the centre and was working on multimedia project at that time. I just finished university and nothing special was happening with my professional life, there was no regular job waiting for me, so I decided to do something else before entering into the ‘serious’ life. So, I said ‘yes’ to the EVS opportunity in Ireland. I did a group EVS that is a bit different from the ordinary one. There were 5 of us from different countries living in the same house and working in 2 groups for the same project. It was short, but very intensive. Five people of different backgrounds were brought together with the same purpose – to do the cultural festival in a very small town in the East-west part of Ireland. There were 4 girls from Portugal, Germany, Hungary and Slovenia and a guy from Slovenia as well. We were settled in a big house in a small village with 300 inhabitants near the waters of river Shannon. The house was nice and cosy, with a big garden. Everyone got its own room with bathroom, which made this part of everyday life much easier. We had common kitchen, living room and dinning room where we spent most of our time. In first days we were just getting to know each other, our new environment and daily habits. You can imagine that is hard to live with roommates from the same country, but to be faced with the habits from 4 different
