EINE STADT VOLLER VITALITÄT Alles scheint größer in China: Das Land, die Zahl an Menschen, die Städte. Shenyang im Nordosten der Volksrepublik wirkt da mit gut fünf Millionen Einwohnern neben immer schneller wachsenden Ballungsräumen um Peking, Shanghai oder Chengdu beinahe beschaulich. In der Eigenwerbung halten sich die Stadtväter daher mit Superlativen à la „Größer. Schneller. Weiter“ bewusst zurück, sie nennen Shenyang schlichtweg „Eine Stadt voller Vitalität“. Früher, ja früher, da war Shenyang das Einfallstor zur „rostigen Zone“ Nordostchinas: Bergbau, Eisen- und Stahlerzeugung, Kohlekraftwerke prägten das Land und überzogen die Straßen mit feinem, ungesunden Staub. Auch heute kämpft die Region immer wieder gegen den Smog an, mit Grünflächen, neuen Parkanlagen und modernen Filtertechniken: Nicht umsonst ist Shenyang zur „Nationalen Modellstadt für Umweltschutz“ ernannt worden. →
NATIONAL ENVIRONMENT MODEL CITY Everything in China comes across as being bigger – the country itself, the number of people and the cities. In the northeast of the People's Republic, Shenyang, with nearly five million inhabitants, makes an almost tranquil impression in comparison to the ever faster-growing conurbations such as Beijing, Shanghai or Chengdu. At a communication level, the city elders deliberately abstain from superlatives such as ‘bigger, better and faster’ in their promotion. They simply call Shenyang ‘A city shining vitality’. In times past Shenyang used to be the gateway to China's 'rust belt' in the northeast. Mining, iron and steel production as well as coal-fired power plants shaped the region at the same time as covering the streets with fine, unhealthy dust. Even today one continually strives against smog with the aid of green spaces, new parks and modern filter technologies: it is not in vain that Shenyang has been nominated a ‘National Environment Model City’. →

2015 investierte BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) eine Milliarde Euro in die Produktionsstätten in und um Shenyang - das neue Motorenwerk bereits eingeschlossen. Seit 2003 produziert BMW vor Ort und hat bis dato rund eine Millionen Fahrzeuge für den chinesischen Markt hergestellt.

In 2015 BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) invested one billion Euros in their production centres both in and around Shenyang, including the new engine plant. Since 2003 BMW has been producing on site and to date has manufactured around one million vehicles for the Chinese market.
