acts of kindness Acts of kindness are so simple to do yet we can easily forget to do them. They basically are small acts of service that show we care. Here are a few examples of simple acts of kindness that can transform someone's day.

Write down a positive quote and place it in someone’s book.

Put your kids favorite snack in their pocket or backpack with a sticky note saying “because I love you."

Offer someone a helping hand.

Leave a fresh cup of morning coffee on your spouse’s nightstand, made just the way they like it.

Give someone you love a kiss good morning & good night.

Open the door for someone with a warm welcome.

self-care When we love ourselves fully we radiate our love onto others. This challenge requires you to give your mind, body, and soul your full awareness for at least 15 minutes. Studies show 15 minutes a day for your own self-care can be very beneficial to your health & welling. So spend 15 minutes caring for yourself on this day.


compliments Compliments are like verbal surprises. They're unexpected and it feels pretty great receiving them. This challenge requires giving three people a genuine compliment. Because giving a genuine compliment requires us to look for the good in others. And in doing so, we also start to see the good in ourselves.

smiling It’s been scientifically proven that smiles are contagious. But that's just one of their superpowers. Smiling brings instant joy & positivity to those around you. And also increases your own happiness as well.

affection Affection plays a vital role in our feelings of happiness and fulfillment. Lack of affection in our life often leads to loneliness, pain, and depression. You can easily show affection by holding hands, hugging someone, or by making someone laugh.

non-judgement Judgment is separation from love. This love task is about practicing nonjudgment. When you can live in the moment without interpreting it as good or bad every upsetting situation becomes peaceful. You immediately release your attachment to negative energy and open yourself up to love & new possibilities.

BE PRESENT Living in the present means letting go of the past and your expectations for the future. It means just being in the now. When we start living for today, in the present moment, stress and anxiety start to dissipate and a new realm of awareness begins to open. You begin to feel more connected with life, allowing you to start appreciating the beauty all around you in this moment. If you find your mind is distracted by thoughts of the past or future, refocus back on the now. Presence is the key to joy, peace, and serenity.Â

DAILY QUESTIONS In the morning after you wake, use your Beauty Journal to start your day beautifully.

1. What will I do to make today beautiful? Â This question is a reminder that YOU have the power to make today beautiful through your actions, perspective, and your attitude. Think about how you need to BE in order to have an amazing day. Reflect on how yesterday went, learn from any mistakes, and focus on what you can do to make today go better.

2. What am I grateful for today? Gratitude is one of the best ways to restore happiness and destress. It's the simplest and most effective thing you can do to be happier. It's been proven that keeping a gratitude list along with reading an inspiring quote every day can dramatically increase your happiness and positivity. The key is consistency. Make sure to write in your beauty journal daily to improve your own happiness and develop more positivity.

At night, before you go to bed, use your Beauty Journal to end your day on a positive note.

3. What was beautiful about today? The evening ritual is to write down what was beautiful about today. Some days this will be easy, other days this will be hard. Through daily practice, the beauty journal helps you recognize the beautiful moment's life surrounds you with.

It's easy to overlook the simple blessings we experience. But when we begin to focus on the good & reflect on beautiful things our mind begins to shift, from 'I'm not enough' or 'I don't have enough', to 'I am enough' and 'I have more than enough'. This shift in mindset has a profound effect on the way we live our lives, it sets the foundation for living a happy & fulfilling life.

Maybe your most beautiful moment of the day was imagining your biggest dreams coming true, perhaps it was reminiscing about old memories & good times, or special words said by a family member or friend. If you spent the day by yourself, perhaps there was something you saw in nature that spoke to your soul. Or maybe it was something you experienced, felt, or witnessed.

Here are just a few often overlooked blessings: Having faith that all is unfolding as it should. The kindness of strangers. Holding your child in your arms. Watching them play. Learning a new lesson. Listening to a song that touches your soul. The moment you stopped struggling & surrendered to what is.

By the end of this journal, you will have a time capsule of beautiful things in your life so that you can look back, reflect, and appreciate them. Whether it's a year from now or twenty years from now, your most precious memories will always be stored in this journal. They will be here, written in your own words. You may even want to pass this journal down to a close family member as a way to remember you and get to know you better.


PRACTICING GRATITUDE Gratitude is one of the simplest and most effective ways to instill more beauty, appreciation, and happiness in your day. It reminds you to stop focusing on what you're lacking in life and bring your attention to all the blessings you have.

Many of us forget what a powerful mood enhancer this is. We can easily overlook the daily blessings we are surrounded with if we don't remind ourselves to be grateful for them.

Bellow is a list of simple daily things to be grateful for:

Being alive, being able to breathe this very moment. Your sense of sight, to observe all the beauty in the world. Your beating heart, for pumping blood throughout your body. The ability to move your body and go any place you choose. Your voice, allowing you to express your thoughts & emotions. Your bed, for giving you a safe and comfy place to rest. Life's challenges, for helping you become stronger and wiser. The ability to laugh and how it brings you joy. Having access to clean drinking water, the foundation of life. Having a roof over your head tonight. Having a cabinet full of food. Having the sun shine on your face & warm your body. Being around someone you love.


MOMENTS Life is filled with

small beautiful moments.

But after a period of time, many of these beautiful moments slip our minds, become hazy, or go forgotten.

Years from now, when you go back and read your beauty journal you’ll create a

trigger in your brain, allowing you to

easily recall special moments and remember them more

vividly. We can easily snap a photo but we can’t snap our

feelings, thoughts, and emotions. Written in your own words, the beauty journal is your tool for encapsulating the joy & beauty in your life.

Occasionally you may come across moments of fate, or serendipity. Which are always exciting to write down.

WHAT WAS BEAUTIFUL ABOUT TODAY?

Lily and I hiked to the very top of Mount Robson in Jasper, Alberta. We sat there marveling at the beauty of it all. I remember being so in tune with myself and the world around me. It was magical. WHAT WAS BEAUTIFUL ABOUT TODAY?

Making peanut butter cookies with my seven-year-old in our kitchen, they were so warm & delicious! While we were eating them she gave me a big kiss on my cheek and said, “you're the best, mommy ever!” WHAT WAS BEAUTIFUL ABOUT TODAY?

Watching my husband walk down the street holding hands with our daughter this morning as the sun was setting, they looked so beautiful & content at that very moment, they were glowing. WHAT WAS BEAUTIFUL ABOUT TODAY?

Sitting on a park bench reading a book. A beautiful butterfly landed on my hand reading the sentence. “Your wings already exist., all you have to do is fly." I knew at that moment, it was a divine sign.


JOURNALING ON THE 'BAD DAYS' On some days writing in your beauty journal will be easy, other days it will feel really hard and might be the last thing you want to do. If writing in your beauty journal is only something you see yourself doing on 'good days' you are missing out on the powerful part of learning, appreciating, and growing on the bad days by using this journal.

There are ways of seeing the beauty in what your mind considers 'bad'. The Beauty Journal uses a process called the 5R's of Reflection to recognize and uncover the hidden blessings found in every situation. The 5R method can be used to notice the good, even on the hard & difficult days. It's not about suppressing your negative thoughts, it's about reprogramming your mind to transform these negative thoughts into solutions to learn and grow.

We all have the ability to change our perspective and point-ofview around any situation. But sometimes our mental & emotional reactions are so habitual that we don't know how to look at something from a new perspective. As the worldrenowned life coach & author Wayne Dyer once said, "If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change."

The 5R method will help you look at your situation in better light. It will help you recognize healthy ways of dealing with life's most difficult challenges. If you write in your Beauty Journal daily, even on the challenging days, you will begin to face & solve your problems, and might start to look at life in a whole new way once you start to commit to the 5R's of self-reflection.


THE 5R'S OF REFLECTION REALIZATIONS Lessons learned & self-discoveries. There is beauty in learning lessons & in discovering new revelations about life and about ourselves. I like to call this 'soul discovery'. Soul discoveries are the catalyst for growth & improvement. Begin to love your mistakes, and look for the beauty in learning from them. Instead of perceiving them as 'failures' perceive them as soul discoveries.

what was beautiful about today? I realized I need to give up the need to always be right. Instead of constantly defending my point of view I will commit to spending more time listening to others from their perceptive without talking over them.

REMINDERS I reminded myself that I... Reminding yourself of an encouraging thought or mantra, and writing down what you're grateful for is another great way to end a challenging day. Gratitude is what can hold us together when our day seems to be falling apart. When you can't seem to find the beauty in a difficult day. You can also write down a paragraph about what you're grateful for.

what was beautiful about today? I am so grateful for my family, friends & my dog Cody.. I am grateful to have a fridge full of food & a roof over my head. I am grateful for my functional body, that's doing its best to care for me, allowing me to breathe at this very moment.


RENEWAL Starting fresh & new beginnings. Only through our mistakes can we learn to transform ourselves. Every breath we breathe is a chance for a fresh start & new beginning. When we feel guilty on certain days for giving in to bad habits, addictions, or old ways of being, we can remind ourselves to recommit to new healthy ways of being starting right now.

what was beautiful about today? I noticed I haven't been eating very healthy and my body is giving me signs I need to eat healthier. Starting right now I am going to stop drinking and eat plant-based for one month.

RESOLVE Redemption & making things right. Did you fight with your spouse? Yell at your kids? Did something that wasn't quite right? When we commit to rectify the situation and make things right it helps us find solutions to our problems, and that is a beautiful thing we can commit to in our journal.

what was beautiful about today? My mom upset me today so I lashed out at her. After analyzing the situation I realized I handled the issue poorly & my ego got in the way.. Tomorrow I plan on apologizing & telling her that I love her.


RELEASE Letting go.

We choose what we give meaning to. When we choose to let go of hurt, anger & disappointment, we make room for peace to set in. Write down what you choose to let go of at this moment, anything that isn't serving you in the highest. Read it to yourself out loud and take a deep breath in and a long breath out. Do this a few times until you feel the anger, pain or resentment you were feeling start to dissipate.

what was beautiful about today? Today, I choose to let go of the things I can’t control, including the pain in my past, I can't move forward looking back, So I will start to focus on the present beauty found right here in front of me. Whatever your situation, accept it fully. If you don’t like something, take action to change it, leave the situation, or surrender and accept it. All else is madness.

Think of the 5R method as an emotional release technique. You take a negative emotional experience and turn it into something positive and empowering. If you don't feel like using any of these five methods, chances are you are being ruled by your ego. If your ego is refusing to acknowledge the beauty that can be found today, try this exercise instead.


REFOCUS Become Present. Focus on what is happening right now. Get still and notice what you are doing at this very moment. Breathe and feel the energy inside your body and observe what surrounds you. This gets you to stop running stories in your head and enables you to just be present to what is at this very moment.

Everything in the present moment is beautiful, whether we are aware of it or not. Write down the exact details of what is happening right in front of you. This will get you out of ego state and bring you into awareness, which is the present moment. What are you doing exactly at this moment? Get still and describe the senses you are experiencing right now, and write down anything that comes to mind.

what was beautiful about today? Drinking a hot cup of green tea at my desk, while writing in my Beauty Journal as I watch Eric sleeping in bed. There is a still silence in the room, and as I write this, I'm feeling a subtle peacefulness come over me. By doing this simple exercise daily you are practicing awareness and becoming more present. As you practice awareness daily you should effortlessly begin to feel more peace, joy, and abundance enter your life. When we are living in the present a new dimension of life opens up for us, and the beauty of just being reveals itself to us.

You may want to bookmark this section so that you can refer back to the R Methods for inspiration when you find it difficult to write in your beauty journal. Just know that you CAN reprogram your mind and put positivity at your core, even if negativity is your current default.


And remember...

If you’re working on changing bad habits, unhealthy thought patterns, negative emotions, or toxic behaviors, know that you are healing a small part of the world by healing yourself. Everyone around you will benefit and they will be served by your wholeness. It’s hard sometimes and I know you want to quit, but this is the work that ultimately changes the world.

WEEKLY PROMISE & REFLECTION PROMISE Your weekly promise is a time to reflect on your week and discover what needs change or commitment. Think of how you need to be and what you can do to make the week beautiful.

Example of a promise:

"I promise to be more patient with people and circumstances that surround me."

AFFIRMATION Affirmations are a great tool for overcoming limiting beliefs and building daily confidence. They should be written in present tense starting with the words "I am". Your affirmation can also be related to your weekly promise. Read your affirmation every time you need a pick-me-up or a boost of encouragement.

Example of an affirmation:

“I am patient, calm, & tolerant to all things that show up.”


REFLECTION A weekly reflection is an important tool for becoming your best self and allows you to observe the choices you are making in your daily life.

There are 3 questions you'll be asked at the end of every week:

What did I learn this week?

What's the message the universe is giving me?

How can I make next week more beautiful?

Take a deep breath, get still, and write down the answer to each question as guided by your intuition. If you take the time to do this weekly you may come across some grand discoveries.

If you commit to writing in your Beauty Journal daily, you should start to feel more present, peaceful & happier sooner than you think.
