Words of wisdom
A message from our CEO, Salvador Escalona.
Dear MXL Family:
Several previous articles mentioned the important challenges we would face in 2025. As we are about to start our third month, it is clear to all of us that 2025 is a year full of challenges where transformation and change are inevitable and have become an essential factor for all of us.
Our success has always been based on our ability to adapt, innovate, and find the “yes.” This is what has brought us to where we are today. Still, to reach the next level and remain relevant, we must embrace transformation as an essential part of our daily lives—whether in the way we work, the technologies we use, or how we relate to our clients, consumers, business partners, and, of course, our coworkers.
Today, I write to remind you of the fundamental role you play in this process, regardless of your position or role. Change starts with each one of us; every decision we make, every action we take, and every idea we present is a step towards shaping the future of our company, which is linked to that of our families.
As a team, as the MXL Family, we can lead by example and be the change we all want to see. We are all responsible for challenging our assumptions, questioning the way things are done, and identifying areas of opportunity for improvement—whether through innovative solutions to old problems, redefining our approach to customer service, or fostering a culture of continuous learning, communication, and collaboration.
I believe in each one of you, whether you joined MXL yesterday or 25 years ago, and I am confident that together we can make the necessary changes to face the present and shape the future. Let’s commit to being bold, to being the change our company needs and the industry demands, and to fostering a culture of teamwork that continues to drive our growth and that of our brands.
I invite each of you to bring out the best version of yourselves. Change starts with you. Be the change!
I’m counting on you.
Sincerely,
Salvador Escalona Captain of the Best Team
Salvador Escalona

The Procurement Team: Driving Value Through Purchase Analysis
The Procurement and Inventory Departments are a vital instrument playing our part in this grand Symphony of Supply Chain magic.
They take the demand planning and determine precisely how much product they need to supply 60 days of sales.
They calculate the precise number of products from every brand to ensure the shelves stay stuck if they miss a beat.
“It’s like a section of the orchestra going silent. And believe me, there are too many products sitting around in warehouses. It’s like the trumpets coming in too early.”
But the procurement team isn’t just about numbers. They also manage our suppliers’ relationships, working closely with the brand managers.
It’s a delegate balance, but they ensure that the right notes are hit every time. When things get out of sync, they are quick to step in and make sure we’re all playing the same tool.
The Imports Team:
Responsible for tracking MXL ground imports
They handle all the ground imports and track every shipment from the supplier to the warehouse or directly to the customer.
Imports also help our purchasing analysts place purchase orders, which is like setting up the sheet music for the performance. They make sure everything arrives on time.
There is no small task when dealing with multiple moving parts and different time zones.
RECOVERABLE ACTIVITIES
This is where we get a little bit of Sherlock Holmes. The Procurement team works with suppliers to recover money when things go according to plan, whether it’s
damaged goods, missing products, or simply overcharges.
They also handle invoice reviews and approvals because, let’s be honest, nobody wants to pay more than they should.
“Like a conductor ensuring the right musicians are playing at the right time, our team ensures every warehouse and custom invoice is accurate, saving us from unpleasant surprises.”
Inventory Team: Reconciling and Analyzing the Stock
The performance has ended, and we must ensure every instrument is back in place and accounted for.
The Inventory Team is the warehouse conductor, ensuring everything flows smoothly.
They manage the inbound and outbound processes, transfer products between warehouses, and even handle Co-packing, creating those beautifully crafted displays you see in stores.
“Inventory is the most asset we have here at MXL. Every product in stock is like a price instrument in our
orchestra. And the whole performance is affected if one goes missing or falls out of tune.”
That’s what inventory reconciliation is: ensuring everything we say we have is there.
Whether identifying expirations, managing finance provisions, or running ad hoc analysis, this team delivers accurate and timely data, keeping the entire business on track.
Ad Hoc Analysis
Anytime the business needs data on procurement, inventory, or anything else, we’re ready to provide insights that ensure we’re always playing the right tune.
Keeping the Beat at Mexilink
The Procurement and Inventory Departments at Mexilink are more than just parts of a machine.
They’re the musicians in an orchestra, playing their parts perfectly to keep our operations running smoothly. Whether it’s procurement, importing, managing inventory, or reconciling accounts, every team is a vital part of our Symphony.
So, let’s keep the rhythm steady and the notes sharp and ensure that Mexilink continues to perform at its best.
Let’s keep making music together.

Human Resources
We grew our team structure to strengthen our capabilities in learning and development, recruiting and retention, benefits and compliance, and engaging with our teams in innovative ways.
We accomplished many unexpected things, including major system changes and additional team positions. We’ve also developed processes, policies, and structures that will guide our people over the coming years.
We have traditionally been very dependent on vendors to drive our decisions, and a welcome challenge for us this year has
been to build our skills and knowledge in specific subject areas to deliver more significant consulting expertise to our stakeholders.
We’ve trained to build our skills and will continue to focus on learning within our department and throughout the organization.
We will roll out new initiatives related to recruiting, learning and development, employee rewards and recognition, and performance management. We will also fully implement our new HRIS system so that team members can
immediately access information about their positions, learning paths, and new opportunities with Mexilink.
IT’S BEEN SAID THAT...”IF IT DOESN’T CHALLENGE YOU, IT DOESN’T CHANGE YOU.”
Our wish for all of us at MXL is that we discover the value of change as a driver of growth. May you find joy and personal power on the other side of every challenge in your life!
Finance
The Finance department has achieved significant milestones this year, demonstrating a strong commitment to operational excellence and financial growth.
Key Accomplishments
Financial Planning Team
• Automated the reporting process for recoverable and non-recoverable investment data across all brands.
• Improved and enhanced profitability visibility
• Launched the initial phase of the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) project.
ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE TEAM
• Improved Collections and Cash Flow: Reduced overdue accounts by streamlining our collections efforts and improving overall payment timeliness.
• Reduction in Days Sales Outstanding: Improvement resulted from better customer communication, improved invoicing accuracy, and stronger follow-up procedures.
• Strengthened Customer Relationships: We secured 98% of payment commitments while keeping customers satisfied and willing to continue their business with us.
TREASURY DEPARTMENT
• They completed the seamless transfer of all banking operations from Amegy to JP Morgan Chase. Despite the process’s complexity, we could execute the transition without interrupting our regular operations. This significant accomplishment demonstrated our team’s effective coordination and adaptability, ensuring that business continuity was maintained throughout the transition period.
• Additionally, this banking transition enabled us to transfer our employees’ MXL and HIT Sales credit cards from American Express (Amex) to JP Morgan Chase Visa. The JP Morgan Chase Visa credit card change offered enhanced employee benefits, such as broader acceptance and improved rewards, ensuring a more efficient and rewarding payment system. We successfully executed both transitions
without disrupting our regular operations, demonstrating our team’s capacity to handle complex changes effectively.
ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT
They improved monthly closing timing and data quality. We updated the corporate card expenses policy, conducted employee training sessions, and enhanced invoice registration timing.
Exceeding Expectations and Achieving 2024 Goals
The Finance department has not only met but often exceeded the ambitious goals set at the beginning of the year.
Our collection performance, outstanding improvements in Days in sales, technology integration, and focus on customer relationships have all contributed significantly to the department’s success, and we are well-positioned for continued improvements next year.
One of the key objectives for the year was the successful transfer of operations from Amegy to JP Morgan Chase, and we met this goal with exceptional results. Not only did we achieve this target, but we also did so with minimal disruption, which was a critical factor in maintaining our operational efficiency.
This accomplishment reflects our team’s ability to meet the set objectives while maintaining high service and performance standards.
We are proud to have successfully achieved most of our goals within the planned schedule. Some objectives will continue into a second phase, scheduled for 2025.
Facing and Overcoming Challenges:
A Year of Progress for the Finance Department
While we encountered several challenges this year, including managing customer relationships, invoice deductions, and technology integration, we successfully navigated these issues through proactive strategies, process improvements, and adaptability. These efforts allowed us to maintain performance and set the stage for continued success in the coming year.
One of the biggest challenges was managing the complexity of transferring our banking operations while ensuring that day-to-day activities were unaffected. To overcome this, our department implemented detailed planning, regular communication with Amegy and Chase, and thorough testing of all systems involved. Our ability to work collaboratively and stay proactive in addressing potential issues allowed us to navigate these challenges successfully.
Another significant challenge was the increasing need to evaluate business priorities, which required greater agility in planning and financial modeling. We overcame this by fostering collaboration across teams and refining our methodologies.
Finance Department’s 2025 Objectives
In 2025, we aim to continue improving processes, reinforcing our corporate policies, enhancing data accuracy, and providing detailed information to support better decision-making through sophisticated financial “what-if” scenarios.
Our focus is also on continually identifying new technologies and strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and provide even greater value to our business operations. We aim to achieve even greater operational excellence and support the company’s long-term growth and financial objectives.
From the Finance Department: Happy New Year!
As we close out this year, our Finance department would like to express our sincere gratitude to each of you for your continued support, collaboration, and dedication. Together, we’ve navigated challenges, celebrated successes, and worked hard to strengthen our company’s financial health.
Your partnership has been invaluable in helping us maintain smooth operations and foster positive relationships with our customers. We appreciate the effort and teamwork that has made this a successful year for all of us.
Looking ahead to 2025, we are excited to continue working closely with you to enhance our processes, improve communication, and drive even more excellent results for the company. We will achieve new milestones and make the coming year even more prosperous.
Let’s embrace the future with passion, purpose, and determination. Here’s to an amazing year ahead. May 2025 bring us continued success, growth, and new opportunities!

24 hours life of IN THE
Gabriela Pérez
With freshly brewed coffee on her desk and wearing comfortable clothes,
Gabriela Pérez, Trade Marketing
Specialist, starts her day by making a to-do list for work, from the most urgent to the ones that can wait a bit longer.
Her first activities of the day include checking her calendar to see if she has any meetings that day, answering emails, and creating general reports. While she does this, she listens to relaxing music to concentrate.
Reviewing information with agencies and coordinating activations with demonstrators in stores in the Southeast, Midwest, and Northeast territories are part of her job duties.
Another activity she performs in the Trade Marketing department is conducting training sessions for agencies to ensure they have all the information about the brands. She also reviews contests for the merchandising teams in all territories at certain times of the year.
Immersed in her tasks, Gaby takes a break to eat with her parents, with whom she lives. Her mom is the house chef
and usually delights them with various Mexican flavors every day, like noodle soup and red rice.
When her workday is over, Gaby takes her dog for a walk, and they take a good stroll through the streets of her city.
Occasionally, she goes out with her friends for coffee or to hang out at a shopping mall. But on those quiet days at home, Gaby plays different video games on her tablet.
You should know that she loves Spanish series and is a big fan of “Friends”. Her series repertoire includes legal, autobiographical, and romantic series.
The days in Gaby’s life are different from each other, but with her cup of coffee in the mornings, she’s ready for anything.

Storytellers
A Taste of Home: Ruben Estrada’s Impact on Hispanic Families
Rubén Estrada tells one of his favorite moments at Mexilink.
When Ruben Estrada, Sabormex Brand Manager, shared with his ESL (English as a Second Language) students about his work at Mexilink, he was deeply moved to hear that many of them were familiar with and enjoyed the company’s products. This realization perfectly aligned with his vision for the company when he first joined.
Ruben began his journey at Mexilink in 2022 and, in 2023, became a volunteer ESL teacher. His decision was rooted in his experiences when he first arrived in the United States and
faced numerous language challenges. He vowed to help others overcome similar obstacles.
Driven by the desire to support Hispanic families, Ruben often imagines a typical Latin family starting their day with beloved foods like La Sierra beans, Café Legal, or Clemente Jacques salsa. He believes that regardless of their circumstances, these families can achieve their goals in the United States.
Hearing his students express their appreciation for Mexilink’s products, Ruben felt a profound sense of fulfillment. It confirmed that his efforts were making a real difference in the lives of Hispanic families.
For Ruben, the work done at Mexilink is more than just a job; it’s about positively impacting the lives of Hispanic families in the United States. By offering products that remind them of home and their culture, Mexilink is helping to create a sense of belonging and connection.
From Aspiration to Inspiration: Sara Rodriguez’s journey
Discover more about Sara’s career at Mexilink.
“I would see the merchandisers organizing the supermarkets, and I thought, ‘I want to be one of them.’”
This was one of Sara Rodriguez’s thoughts, an Outside Sales Merchandiser, 7 years ago when she decided she wanted to be a merchandiser. But the path wasn’t linear.
“In fact, I had zero experience, so it was starting from scratch. I began to get involved with people, to learn everything we do as merchandisers, and I really liked it”
Sara commented.
After 3 years of working directly with Tajín, Sara met her current boss, César Flores, who offered her the opportunity to join MXL—something she had already sought years ago.
One of the things Sara enjoys about her job is meeting and talking to many people daily.
“I am a very smiley person with a positive attitude, something that catches people’s attention. And I tell them,
THE Mexilink Path
that’s life, you must turn the page every day and start over,” Sara emphasized.
Every day, Sara seeks to be a better version of herself. One of her biggest challenges as a merchandiser is the brand display contests. She aims to do an impeccable job and, above all, surpass what she has done before.
One of her favorite experiences at Mexilink was the trip to Las Vegas this year. She had the opportunity to meet many people, and she cherishes this memory very much.
“The gatherings at MXL are super nice because we all forget about everything, and it gives you a special energy and completely changes you. We are all together like a family, but it doesn’t mean everything is perfect because there is no perfect family. We all try to get along, smile, and have a good time.”
Sara concluded.
MXL out and about - The Merchandiser Way
What is done with all the information that merchandisers collect with their devices?
Understanding and Utilizing Merchandiser Data
Beyond the excellent service that our Merchandisers offer daily to our Brands in stores (checking shelves, inventories, expirations, product rotation, prices, additional displays, etc.), another essential part of their work is to obtain information that will later be very useful for our commercial areas, either to make sales projections, price analysis, competitive activities, or different departments of MXL.
With the proper information collection, MXL can make strategic decisions based on real-time data and prepare quality reports for our business partners.
Javier Soto, Manager of the Execution Department, explained in broad terms how information is used, who analyzes it, and how it is maximized and converted into actions.
Route Compliance Report
The system allows us to analyze our operation in detail regarding route compliance and store visits, which are programmed one month in advance. Once the cycle is closed, a detailed report, like the one shown n the next page, along with a summary of the operation, is sent to the territories.
Monthly Attendance Report,
by Territory
Beyond a compliance report, a monthly “Attendance Report” is generated by territory, which shows the number of points of sale (stores) in that territory, how many of those stores were visited, and how many were not.
The importance of this indicator allows us to analyze with the Merchandiser the reason why certain visits were not made, such as:
• Store closure
• Illness or vacation
Additionally, the system allows us to schedule and track the number of visits the Merchandiser makes to each of those stores each month. That is, in one month, 1012 visits to 418 points of sale can be scheduled. This means that there are stores that are visited two or three times a month, or even monthly, and we can know in advance which ones.
This information helps us identify the fulfillment of scheduled visits by store and by Merchandiser, what days there are more or fewer visits, etc., and even allows us to see in detail how many stores each Merchandiser visits per day, how long they spend on average inside the store and how long it takes them to move from store to store.
This information allows us to analyze and restructure the routes to optimize the operation in favor of productivity, as shown in the table below.
Full Visibility of the Point of Sale
In addition to the detailed report of the operation at the Point of Sale, this information captured by the Merchandisers allows us to carry out periodic and constant analysis of the performance of our Brands, and even of each product that we launch on the Market and have precise information for our Business Partners and Customers, such as:
• In which territories are the product and in which it has a more significant presence?
• In how many stores is the product registered?
• In which stores should a particular product be launched according to its target?
• Which Chains and which stores have direct Merchandising service?
• How many displays are placed, when, and where?
• How do the sales of a product or brand develop during a specific promotional campaign?
• Identify high and low inventories in stores according to the season, which allows for better demand planning.
• Identify low velocity at the point of sale to execute promotional and demo campaigns that help increase it.
Special project Kroger coverage and its banners
A special project is being carried out on the coverage of Kroger and its banners, so Javier Soto, in an interview with Link It, explained this entire process with an example:
“Out-of-Stock” Report
a) It starts with defining the objective according to the company’s needs.
b) According to the objective and information needs, the system (Storecheck) is configured to identify out-of-stock SKUs. The information can be obtained by store/chain/region.
c) When they visit the stores, the Merchandisers collect information in the application on their cell phones (Storecheck), leaving a record of 100% of their activities, which will later be analyzed by our team.
d) Once the information has been analyzed, the reports are generated and sent with the requested information, as you can see in the following example:
This type of report tells us which products are out of stock by store/chain, and based on the information, different analyses are made, such as:
• What are the days with the most stockouts
• What product(s)
• In which Chains?
But with all this data, we can also go to a deeper level of detail, as shown in this example:
• Which Merchandiser visited which Chain?
• Did you meet the scheduled visit?
• How did you find the product(s)?
Coverage Indicators at the Point of Sale
This report helps us monitor the coverage of our service at the point of sale and analyze compliance in routes, activities carried out, and the different brands that Territory and Merchandiser attended.
With this information, our system allows us to identify the following:
• Offer visibility of which points of sale were visited.
• The frequency and average time per visit by territory allow for identifying opportunities for improvement and proposing improvement
actions, always seeking to optimize the time of our merchandisers.
There are cases where it is necessary to outsource to external merchandising companies for projects, and having this level of visibility is very useful for us in knowing if we are receiving the requested service 100%.
Conclusion
The team of merchandisers that MXL has throughout the United States is a fundamental piece in giving greater visibility to our products on the shelves, displays, and winning zones in stores. Beyond the natural increase in sales, this gives recognition to our Brands in the eyes of millions of consumers. They are also key to better business decision-making, identifying opportunities for improvement, and giving visibility to our Business Partners.
The passion and daily dedication of our Point-ofSale Execution Department, whether in the store or the office, have been and will continue to be an essential and differentiating part of MXL compared to its competitors.

What was it about: Las Cuevas
“Participating in the donation of food and toys for the families was rewarding. When we received the invitation, I thought it was important to combine efforts to bring the donations from the entire team to “Las Cuevas” but I had no idea of the warmth and excitement with which we would be received. Seeing whole families help us bring what we had, the smiles on the children’s faces as they patiently received their toys, and

Filipinas
The gift-giving tradition in Filipino culture during Christmas time highlights thoughtfulness and consideration amidst these difficult times for the poor and indigent members of the community.
During the yuletide season, almost globally, people give gifts as a way of showing consideration, love, and affection. When we give gifts, it brings joy and pleasure to both the giver and the receiver.
It is in this regard, that we, the E-Commerce Filipinas
Team decided to do a small gift-giving project in Barangay 170 of Caloocan City (a Barangay is a small territorial and administrative district forming the most local level of government). It is a small community composed mostly of low-income families.
Headed by their Barangay Captain Crisostomo R. Contreras, our team was received warmly in their office, alongside with the staff. We gave gifts of food, rice, toys, and other goodies which are popular gift offerings.
We were also given a tour of the Barangay premises which include the daycare center for preschoolers, the justice office, and the covered court.
So from the Philippines, we wish one and all a “Maligayang Pasko at Manigong Bagong Taon!” – Carissa Ortiz
What’s coming?

Discovering the Philippines: A historical legacy and a travel guide
Would you like to visit the Philippines but don’t know what you can do there? No worries!
We asked Carissa Ortiz (E-commerce Supervisor), Marco Diola (E-commerce Walmart Assistant), Justin Ortiz (E-commerce Junior Coordinator) and Paul Bautista (E-commerce Assistant), locals from Manila, Philippines, for their recommendations to visit their city so that you can consider them for your next trip.
We’re excited to share that our relationship with the Philippines goes beyond Mexilink; it’s rooted in shared history.
The Nao China, or “Manila Galleon”, was a commercial service connecting Mexico and the Philippines for over two centuries (1565-1815). These massive ships crossed the Pacific Ocean, laden with exotic goods.
Silks, porcelains, spices, and other precious commodities came from Asia, while silver, food, and handcrafted products came from America.
Considering this historical context, we invite you to read our locals’ recommendations for their city and country. As you read each one, we’re sure you’ll start searching for flights to the Philippines.
Planning Your Trip
FIRST STOP: MANILA
Duration: Marco, Paul, and Justin recommend spending a week in Manila and then another two weeks exploring the beaches and islands of the Philippines.

Carissa recommends staying at these hotels:
• Shangri-la
• The Peninsula
• Ascott
• Grand Hyatt.
If you have a higher budget, Seda, F1 Hotel, and The Heritage Hotel are also good options for your stay.

DIVERSITY IN FILIPINO CUISINE

Justin recommends trying sisig and sinigang. Sisig is a dish made with parts of the pig, such as head, ears, snout, brains, cheeks, and liver, while sinigang is fried rice with garlic served for breakfast with a fried egg and cured meat or sausages.
Places to get these dishes:
• Mesa: Sinigang
• Gerry’s Grill: Sisig (best paired with beers)
Marco recommends trying kare-kare and crispy pata. For the more adventurous with an exotic taste, there are options like balut (a fertilized duck egg) and fried isaw (grilled or fried chicken intestines).

The Backstage Pass
Mexilink and FunDavid:
An alliance for childhood
Our children are the strength and inspiration of this home
This phrase greets you as you enter the house, surrounded by photos of the children who will live there. This new home is for FunDavid, a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children who have suffered from abandonment, domestic violence, and orphanhood.
Mexilink has been part of this new beginning for FunDavid. The company has supported various aspects of the renovation, such as purchasing mattresses, custom-made bunk beds, and painting the new bedrooms for girls, boys, babies, and teenagers. All of this is to provide them with a dignified home and a safe space.
OnDecember 6th, Salvador Escalona, along with his father Don Carlos, the founder of Mexilink, and other members of the MXL family, visited the facilities and were moved by the restoration results.
Salvador gave a speech and mentioned that the Escalona family and Mexilink have always been characterized by their commitment to helping their community, and their dedication to FunDavid will continue for a long time.
After the tour, there was a small gathering where the MXL family spent an afternoon of fun with the children, playing games, and eating hamburgers and churros. It was an afternoon to remember.
When you meet the children for the first time, they approach you with so much affection, even if they don’t know you. They give you a big hug and introduce themselves. Their faces reflect their
innocence and happiness; you see them playing all over the yard, full of life. We know without a doubt that this house will bring a lot of happiness.
The people who have made this noble cause possible are Erica Ríos Ávila and Joel Haro Mora, a couple who, following a divine calling, decided to invest everything they had to give a dignified life to many children who have suffered domestic violence and abandonment by their families.
Someone who has also been fundamental to this new home project is Brandon Johanson, an architect who wants this
space to be more than just a house, but a place where children can dream and feel protected.
Unity is strength. Thanks to the generosity of companies like Mexilink, the commitment of families like the Escalonas, and the altruism of people like Erica, Joel, and Brandon, this space has been transformed into a home filled with love and hope.
Seeing these children play, laugh, and dream, we understand the true meaning of home. They remind us of the importance of childhood, protection, and love.
Thanks to this project, we are giving them the opportunity to have a life full of possibilities. And that is priceless.
