Unless otherwise stated all in-house workshops at Touchstones cost £63 and are suitable for a maximum of 30-34 children. Single outreach workshops delivered in school cost £150 (unless otherwise stated). Multiples of outreach sessions, if booked for the same day, are discounted. (Please note: There is an additional travel cost of 50pence per mile for outreach sessions booked by schools located outside of the borough of Rochdale. Please contact the Education team to confirm complete price). Your school will be invoiced after the date of your workshop and within the term the session takes place. Full payment is due within the period specified.

Self-Guided Visits
Workshops at Touchstones Rochdale
There are no charges for booking a self-guided visit as entry to our building is free. Please note: Booked groups have priority in display areas. It may be difficult to accommodate your class if you haven’t booked in advance.
If you have to cancel your booked session, please telephone the Education Team immediately on 01706 924931 or 924938 (TuesFri) or 01706 641085 if you are calling on a Monday. • From the moment we take your booking we start to incur costs. So if you cancel we unfortunately have to make a charge and the later the cancellation the greater the cost. We require at least four weeks’ notice of a cancellation to enable us to reallocate your session. If you do not contact us, or we are unable to refill the session, Touchstones Rochdale reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee covering the cost of your booked session. We are a not-for-profit organisation and fees charged cover the freelance facilitator and admin costs incurred. Therefore sufficient notice from you will hopefully allow a facilitator to secure alternative work elsewhere. An administration cost of £10 is liable on any other cancellation reported outside of the four week deadline where a booking has already been processed by the finance team. •In the rare instance that we should ever have to cancel your workshop at Touchstones Rochdale on the day the workshop is due, we promise to refund you in full (including the cost of any coach you may have pre-booked where the coach company will not give you a full refund) and we will also offer you a replacement workshop without charge.
Lunch Facilities We may be able to provide you with space in which to eat your packed lunch. Please make this request at the time of booking so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
Loan Boxes Please note: You will only be able to book your loan box one term in advance. Your request remains provisional until you have received written confirmation of your booking. The service is currently FREE to users in the Rochdale borough (terms and conditions apply). We do however charge a nominal fee of £20 for schools from outside the borough. Planning a Pre-Visit?
* Please note: Touchstones Rochdale does not accept liability for any cancellation made by a school due to adverse weather conditions unless our venue is also affected and unable to open to the public.
We recommend that you make a preliminary visit before bringing the class to familiarise yourself with the displays. We can support you with this process by providing ideas for activities and further information about exhibitions. (Please see the ‘self-guided visits’ section on page 25).

Risk Assessment
Outreach Workshops at School
Touchstones Rochdale is a low risk environment and injuries to visitors are very rare. We can provide you with a generic risk assessment for self-guided visits and school workshops which take place within our building. However, it is the responsibility of individual teachers and leaders to visit the site in order to conduct risk assessments that are specific to their group and that fulfil their policy requirements.
If you have to cancel your booked outreach session, please telephone the Education Team immediately on 01706 924931 or 924938 (Tues-Fri) or 01706 641085 if you are calling on a Monday. • Schools who cancel outright on the day of the workshop or within four weeks of the date of the workshop will be obliged to pay the full cost of the workshop. • Please give as much notice as possible should you wish to reschedule a date – a minimum of four weeks is required. • Should a freelancer unfortunately not be able to deliver your session due to unforeseen circumstances, we will immediately organise an alternative date by mutual agreement. As a gesture of goodwill you will receive a discount of 10% on the cost of your rescheduled workshop. • Please note: We reserve the right to cancel a session on arrival for health and safety reasons or if the facilitator is prevented by the school from starting on time causing an excessive delay or if we deem the behaviour of the participants during the session to be inappropriate. In the case of such cancellations we will not offer a refund.

Access Touchstones Rochdale is fully accessible to people using wheelchairs with a lift to reach the Galleries on the first floor. There is level access throughout the display areas and the adapted toilet is located in the foyer. There is on-street parking immediately outside the venue for Blue Badge holders (alongside the short-stay parking bays).
