Millions of workers are currently being automatically enrolled into a workplace pension by their employer and once enrolled not only will they pay into it but so will their employer and the government.
With all the pension reforms announced recently and with the government’s Auto-enrolment scheme in full flow, there is a lot of talk about how people like you are going to be affected when they finally stop working.

The government estimates about 7 million people are not saving at all for retirement, or simply not saving enough. On top of that, life expectancy is increasing – people will live longer in retirement and the size of their pension fund needs to be greater to fund this.

But without professional financial advice and good planning, business owners could find themselves facing hefty fines from the Pensions Regulator.” It has been called the most radical pension reform in almost a century.
For these reasons, the government may not be able to afford to keep state pensions at their current level in the longer term. Therefore, new legal duties will require employers to ‘automatically enrol’ their eligible jobholders into a qualifying pension scheme and pay contributions towards it. This new workplace pension reform will be ‘staged’ over a six year period depending on the size of the employer.
